Robert, 23, planner, constant worrywart, UO expert (well, out of the 2 of us going, lol).

Chip, 24 (as of Aug. 3), cooler, thinner, Filipino version of me (haha not really), that is not so worried. Avid gamer, and has a cool car.

So, 2008 began with me deciding to finally go on a trip back to Walt Disney World for the first time since I "grew up" and moved out of my dad and step-mom's house. So I planned, and I planned, and I planned some more. Oh, and then I did some planning. During my planning I realized....Disney is hella expensive!! Plus, I really wanted to go ride ROTM, since my step-mom spoke really highly of it. It also was partly because she and my dad spolied me growing up. Every trip to WDW was never complete with out a side trip to UO. So I had to go!! So then I did some more planning and realized....wow, it sucks if you wanna try to rent a car when you're under 25. And I don't really like driving when on vacation. I'm lazy like that! :teeth: Of course, it was long after that that I found out that there are transport companies that will shuttle you between parks. :headache: Oh well. While doing my research on UO, I saw the "2-Park Unlimited Ticket" deal. And that there were a lot of hotels right across the street from the park, so I wouldn't have to rely on scheduled transportation (Disney buses) to get to the park. Joy!! (I'm a stickler on being somewhere at the time I want to be there.) So, I decided to book me a package (D'oh!) through Universal Vacations, www.univacations.com, that included airfare. And thus my hotel hopping began. I booked the package with the new(ish) Hyatt Place, because the 42 inch HD TV sounded rather pleasant to a boy who doesn't have cable. Plus, free breakfast. So, that stuck......for about a month. Then I saw that if I switched to the Doubletree, I'd save a lot of money....money that could be spent on shiny things....and food!! So I switched again. I believe that was late March/April. Come May, I was looking at my finances, and I sorta realized that I could very well afford to stay on site at the RPR. Score!!! So I switched again. Then, my car broke down. :headache: So, it was a dent, but I could still scrounge up the dough for RPR. I just wouldn't buy so many shiny things. Then, my lazy butt got caught. I had neglected to get my registration and inspection stickers renewed....since 2006. D'oh! Then after that on the same day, I got caught speeding. D'OH!! :faint: Ok, so $428 later, RPR was no longer an option. So, back to the Hyatt Place. Yes, it's a little more than the Doubletree, but we can save money with the free breakfast. But my brain wouldn't stop working. I'm not a giant breakfast eater, and we're barely going to be in the room at all....why are we spending an extra $100 for food and a TV? Doubletree it is then. And things have started to work out for the better (so far). Me thinks I should have stayed at the Doubletree to begin with. Of course, since I booked the package before I knew for sure Chip was going, we have to pay an extra $25 a night, according to the person I spoke with at Universal Vacations. Oh well. Not like I have much of a choice. Especially since I booked my package with airfare, and if I canceled it would also cancel my plane ticket. But that's it so far. Almost a month left before the big day!! I can't wait!!!

I've been planning to read your trip report later this fall (I know I have awhile). But I love, love, love pre-tripies! What a great surprise! I love to plan too. It's like 1/3 the fun!

Soooo, what time is your flight out? how long are you staying? any resturant plans? :surfweb:

Great start--keep it coming

check out my ticker:rolleyes1

You can walk to PBH from the Doubletree... :rolleyes1 We did :teeth: You can hop the PBH boat to the parks or walk (the shortcut). ;)

Not important where you stay (esp. off peak)...in your case, it's just getting there! :thumbsup2

Isn't that technically a form of cheating?

what? taking the boat and not being a guest? no. but they will check for hotel roomkey at peak times the boat runs....ie: when parks close...hotel guests are the priority.

don't forget you can take the boats to other hotels....say, for instance, to eat at a restaurant there. unless it's 'peak boatin time', they don't ask to see roomkey.

Wow, when it rains it pour for you. What a string of back luck. I guess that means you'll have nothing but mummy dust from here on out! :wizard:

Enjoyed your pretrippie, can't wait to read bout the actual trip! :goodvibes

Cool Pre-trippie....but Andy...have you ever thought about getting a bike !!? :rotfl2:

Lucky, only a few more days!! Since I had to get the plane tickets separately, Chip is leaving at 6am and I'm leaving at 9am on Sept. 7. We luckily got the same flight back at 6ish (we had booked 8pm but AA canceled that flight :guilty:) on the 13th. I've already made a ressie for Tchoup Chop for the nigth we arrive as a "welcome" dinner. And other than Mythos, nothing really planned. I want to go to Margaritaville and maybe another CW restaurant. And we make trek over to DTD (I've never been to DisneyQuest, and I kinda wanna see the Adventurer's Club before it closes).

You always have the best tips, Brab!!

Well, I was planning on trying to boat back to CityWalk after dinner at Tchoup Chop. I'm drying to go to the new karaoke bar. I'm one of the few who enjoys doing karaoke completely sober! :teeth:

oh, and BTW, I'm stealing from Brab and doing links to my pics, like this. So if you go back to the top and click on my or Chip's names, you'll see us. In case you hadn't notced!! :teeth:

cash only please :teeth:

no checks or credit cards accepted

 ...actually, putting the pix in the report like that is the only way around the 25 image limit ;) Last post (day 1 of cruise) had almost 200 pix in it
