Hi Everyone!

I first want to thank everyone for all the information on this board. I don't know what I would do without it! :worship: Our escape wedding is on December 9th, 2008 at the WP. I can't wait!

I am Amy, I'm 22 and am in advertising. My fiance, Alec is 35  and is an expense analyst.

How We Met:

We met 7 years ago at my first job, at a movie theater. We have been dating for 5 years, moved across the country together, and then back again! He's the one who knows me best and I can't wait to continue our life together!

The Proposal:

We visited Disney World on a trip in December 07. On a previous trip together, we had gotten the "Leave a Legacy" at Epcot with our pictures on the stone slabs just as you walk into the park. We were eager to find our picture. We finally found it, and Alec proposed right there! In front of our picture! He said he did it so "I'll always remember exactly where we got engaged, so we can tell our kids" I thought it was so special. We were the only ones around and got to revel in our own happiness!

This was right after the proposal!

And another one from the engagement trip!

Disney holds a special place in both our hearts because it was our first vacation together. The first time Alec went to Disney World was when I took him. He loves (OK, maybe obsessed with) it now, and we try to go every chance we get!

more to come....as the anticipation builds!!! :)

Congratulations! What a nice story & nice pictures, too.

I'm so excited - we are like wedding twins. My wedding is also 12/9/08 only I am going to be over at the Swan. :cool1:

Good luck with your planning. I will be sure to keep up with it. It's getting so close isn't it? I hope you enjoy the process :goodvibes

Thank you so much, XmasPixie! I have read your PJ and it sounds so fun! I can't believe how close December 9th is getting!

Ok, so here are some details about our wedding:

We’ve invited 11 of our closest family and friends to our wedding. We wanted to keep it nice and simple. Our guests are going to be there for 2 nights, and we pretty much want this wedding to be a party. We decided this when we went to Alec’s brother’s wedding and there were 200+ people there, and half of them the bride and the groom didn’t know. I would hate it! So we wanted our wedding to be shared by only the people who are closest to us.

We’re paying for everyone’s rooms at the Caribbean Beach for 2 nights. We figured this would cut down on costs for most of our guests. Everyone is arriving on Dec 8th. We’re going to hang out during the day at Downtown Disney (there are a few in the group who have never been to Disney so I thought it was a good place to start), and then we are having our Welcome Dinner at Jiko that night. Then I thought we would go to Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk for drinks, but I know I can’t stay out too late!

Our wedding is at 10 a.m. on the 9th because we wanted everyone to be able to go into the park after. We have gotten everyone one-day park tickets to go into Epcot after the wedding. We are having our reception at Les Chefs de France in Epcot at about 2:30 (I figured that would give everyone time to digest the cake they are going to have at 11 a.m. :rotfl: ) and then we’re going to enjoy the rest of the day in the park.

Everyone leaves on the 10th and that’s when our Disneymoon starts!!! We are staying at the GF for 11 nights! I have stayed at the Poly before and have looked over the water and always dreamed of staying at the GF and now I am! :cloud9:

I didn’t add this to our engagement story, but here is a pic of my ring with our picture on the wall.

So more on the wedding….

Here is a picture of my dress. Sorry the picture is so small, it was the only one I could find online.

I bought it about 6 months ago, it was the first and only dress I tried on! I knew it was the one! It would have been fun to try on a bunch more dresses though, but I’m just glad I found the one I loved so quickly!

The only other thing that we have figured out is most of the music during the wedding. Alec is going to walk down the aisle to the music from Star Wars (do you see how good of a bride I am?:lmao:) and my brother (who is the “man of honor”) is walking down to Indiana Jones! - I thought that would make him feel a bit more manly in such a girly job! :rotfl2:

That’s about as far as I have gotten in the planning. Still trying to figure out the type of bouquet and the color flowers and whether we can fit the Epcot photography session in our budget! ---Only 4 months out!!!!!! :yay:

Your plans sound wonderful. That is so sweet of you to cover the cost of your guests rooms. And the GF for all that time - lucky you :goodvibes

Your dress is gorgeous - very sohpisticated.

Oh - love the music choices also. Great ideas

Aww OMG your ring is gorgeous and how cool you guys are on the wall!!!! How cute!

Your dress is stunning :)

Thank you so much ladies!!!!!!!!

So I've looked into the Epcot Portrait Session. Looked at a lot of pics on here and thought they were so beautiful. Has anyone done this, and how happy were they? Its significantly less than the MK Portrait Session, and Epcot is our favorite park. I just can't decide! I just need help! Also, another thing I can't decide on :rotfl: ...flowers. I'm a December bride, so I'm thinking the rose bouquet with white and red flowers? But I also like the pink rose bouquet, but its not that wintery.....any thoughts, I'd love some help making decisions?

Ok, so I have decided a few things. The flowers - I went back and forth about just red roses or dark pink and medium pink roses, but I have decided on a bouquet with red roses and dark pink roses - like this.

I feel like it is wintery, but the pink makes it a little brighter, which is what I wanted! :cool1:

Also...I did find a better pic of my dress. - it's beaded lace! Can't wait to wear it!

One thing that I thought of today as I was going through all the fabulous posts by everyone - a GROOM"S CAKE! I thought it would be such a fun idea to surprise my DF with either a Star Wars cake or an XBOX cake. I found some inspirations online like these...

haha this looks the easiest to make!

I have heard that this can be booked through the wedding planner. Hopefully its not too expensive I would like to stay under $200. I don't really care how big it is - its his cake anyway.

I wanted to surprise him at the welcome dinner we are having at Jiko. I would love to see the expression on his face! I know he will love it! :yay:

congrats, your plans sound wonderful.... I love the bouquet choice and the colors! The music selections are very cool and unique. best wishes and looking forward to hearing more!:goodvibes

I bought my dress in February and I just got it back a couple weeks ago. I tried in on yesterday......I feel like I don't look as good in it as I had remembered!!!!!!! I have probably gained weight since them (being at a job where you sit in meetings and in front of computers will do that too you :headache:) I love the dress so I am hoping that it is because it was a little snug and of course, a little uncomfortable, but I guess all dresses are supposed to be! Beauty is pain!! I definitely need to start dieting and exercising, and hopefully, by my fitting in October, I will love the way the dress looks!!!

Sorry for ranting...has anyone else had this happen to them? They like the dress in the store and it doesn't look as good as they remembered when tried it on later! Ugh....:sad2:

Everything looks wonderful! Your DF is such a sweetheart to have proposed in such a romantic location! LOVE your floral color combination and your gown is stunning. Can't wait to hear more!

Hey there wedding twin!

I'm sure it was just one of those funny moments with the dress. Do what you have to do to make it feel better and I'm sure by your fitting and then hair and make up it will all be just perfect!

Love your flower choices and those groom cakes look great. That's going to be a tough choice picking out one.

Thank you so much for your responses ladies :goodvibes

Ugh, I am so mad about the groom's cake I probably am not going to do it. To make a cake in the shape of a ball, Disney is going to charge me upwards of $300. :scared1: I'd rather have a Mad Hatter cake for $500 than a small ball of cake for over $300. I tried to find other bakeries in the Orlando area to make a groom's cake in Star Wars and I sent a bunch of e-mails out. I pretty much asked in the e-mail if they could do a Star Wars cake, how much it would be and if they could deliver. Generally simple questions right? I got this response back from one of the bakeries

We need to talk.
Larry

I WAS LIVID

The tone of that e-mail makes it sound like I did something wrong and those are the type of e-mail that clients send me, (maybe that's why I got so mad) not the other way around. I was in customer service for years in high school and college and I would NEVER speak to a customer in that manner. I wanted to write back soooo bad with something witty, but figured it wasn't worth it...

All he could have said is something like, "This would be better talked about over the phone, please give me a call at ....." That would have had such a better tone!!!

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

I'll post more updates a little later....need to go to bed!!!!

Sorry about your bad experience, you are right it could have been said differently... wishing you luck ....the star wars cake would be cool though:goodvibes

Love your dress, kind of resembles mine. :lovestruc

Sorry about the grooms cake. Yeah, he could have stated that a bit better. For something like that, all I would have said would be Yes or No to delivery at Disney, everything else would need to be talked about. For instance, did you tell him how big the cake needed to be? That would determine the price. Also, did you just want a sheet cake with Star Wars logo, or a Cake in the shape of the ship, an Ewok, lots of things to determine the price.

YOu should also check with the restaurant you will be having the dinner at, to see if they will allow you to bring in an outside cake. One of the other brides, i can't remember who now, had an issue where the kitchen did not want to store her cake for her. Health code reasons or something. :confused3

If I lived closer, I'd totally make a star wars grooms cake for you!! :thumbsup2

I can't believe I just found your PJ!!! I LOVE everything! I think we have the same engagement ring!!! Although, your center stone looks a bit bigger. Do you have 4 princess cut diamonds on each side. Your dress is gorgeaus!! The flowers are great! It sounds like you are going to have a fabulous wedding. Can't wait to hear more about it.

Oh- I forgot!!! Does your DF really think you'll forget where he proposed???? Even if it weren't right at your pictures!!!

Yep mine is four on each side. I always notice that my ring looks bigger in the pictures probably because its up close. Its 1 1/4 carats! Val, thank you so much for reading!!!

Tammy, thank you so much for your response!!!! :goodvibes

Good news on the Star Wars cake! Tanis finally got back to me about what the Disney bakery said about the groom's cake, and THEY CAN DO IT! :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo: :cool2: :worship:

It will be this cake...

untitled.jpg

which was my FAVORITE! I am so happy. They are going to do a smaller version of this, but it will still feed my 14 guests! Alec is going to be so surprised, I can't wait to give it to him and see the look on his face :yay:

Tanis got me so worried about it, and I started to think that it was going to be like $400 to make this little cake, but it will be $200 for the cake and then a $75 delivery charge to Jiko. Not bad at all. I am so excited!!!!

I will post pictures of me in my dress soon. They are on mom's camera!!!
