OK I am a bit freaked out about staying at POP I will admit it. But this is really a trip to find a house and I am sneaking in some Mouse time. Will I be totally unerved at a value. My favorite resort is AKL but that was CL and I also like BWI. I have not even been at a mod in 10 years. I guess I am really concerned about the noise most of all and the room size I can live with for 2 nights. What do you think will I survive??

Didnt Bob do a review or blog or something about POP? Off to try and find an answer. Help me out if you can.

i've never stayed at the pop, but my daughter and i were just at the All Star Music in november and i was very pleasantly surprised....
i really enjoyed it... I hadn't been there since it opened...and i haven't been at anything other than a deluxe in over 6 years...
but i liked the ASMu and i would happily stay there again...next time i'll try the pop....

I'm a dvc girl, so I've gotten used to space on my WDW trips. We did a surprise trip (for the kids) with two other families, and they wanted to stay at POP because of the value, and of course I'd never turn down a trip to WDW. We had a great time and the room was fine. It is a little smaller, as far as hotel rooms go, but it's clean and we never had a problem with noise.

I swear that the staff at the values, we've stayed at AS too, is the nicest we've encountered on WDW property. Everyone went out of their way to say hello and to ask us how our trip was going. FYI, we've never received that at BCV, it's a fabulous resort, but not as friendly as the values. - Just my observations.

I know Bob did a review on the show this past Spring for POP. I don't remember which episode but I think his review was favorable.

I'm not overly picky when it comes to hotels. My big thing is if they are CLEAN, with a comfortable bed, but I don't have to stay at luxury places...to me if I'm in hotel, I'm not at work, so I'm pretty happy! I will say though since I've been staying DVC at OKW I have become very spoiled by coffee maker, fridge and especially the balcony. I LOVE sitting out there in the mornings and at night. I have my coffee there in the mornings, a little quiet time before heading to the parks and a glass of wine (or two) at night to wind down and journal about the day. If staying at POP was the only way for me to go to WDW, I'd take it, but I know I'd sorely miss the coffee maker, fridge and balcony.

I'm also a deluxe girl who has stayed at Pop. Mine was a budget trip to take advantage of free dining a few years ago. Considering the nature of you're trip, I think you will be just fine. The size of the room was adequate, and it was perfectly quiet. I liked Pop just fine, and I would stay there in the future, but I don't think it would ever be my first choice. So go enjoy your bonus Disney time and good luck with the house hunt!

I debated long and hard between POR and POP. Though I've never really been in POP, our ME bus stopped there to load and unload during our last trip. What kindof bothered me was the lack of cover over the bus stop lines. Now I understand POP is a "bargin" hotel with fewer ammenities. JMHO, but shade over a place where people could be waiting for 20 minutes or more is not a "ammenity/luxury". Perhaps most of the year it doesn't matter. My trip is in Aug when the sun is very strong. Then POP has been open many years and is very popular. I guess people have found a "work around" or standing in the hot sun doesn't bother them (or their children).

Maybe one day we'll stay at POP. This time it's POR for us.

Enjoy your stay.:wizard:

It sounds like we are alot alike. Those are the exact things I was worried about. Plus my husband is a total resort snob. It sounds like we will be ok from all the comments everyone has left. DH is won over by the slurpee machines and I want to stay at a value at least once. I just got home from work so I want to listen to Bawbs review. I am really getting excited now.

We stay at the POP when we go. IS the room huge? Absolutely not, but for th emaount of time that we are in a room, it is fine. We are a family of four, our daughters are 16 and 12 (almost) and we are fine. Noise has never been an issue, and we go in the summer. The only complaint I have is the wait to get a bus back from MK at night.

Our forefathers (and mothers) crossed the broad oceans jammed cheek-to-jowl in the holds of small wooden sailboats and modern passenger steamers; spanned the wide prairies and treacherous mountains of this great nation in everything from ox-pulled carts to station wagons; and endured the deprivations of space as we made perilous journey to the moon and back.

I'm thinking you can handle a few nights at POP.

:confused3

Have a great time!!!

:rotfl: now that is funny.

We are DVC owners at AKV...... and stay at POP all the time. That resort is great! You'll be fine there. POP is a lot of fun. It has a different feel than the deluxe resorts to be sure, but we love it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.:thumbsup2

I have stayed at many of the resorts, deluxe included, and consider myself a bit of a hotel snob at times. Personally I like POP....I find it to be good value for the money I pay. It depends on the trip and what my goal is as to which resort I choose. Our upcoming trip in Sept we are staying there because we wanted to take advantage of free dining and upgrade to the deluxe plan. To save a bit of money, we chose POP.

A couple things I like....

bus transportation -- personally think its best on property no "sharing" with another resort. One thing I like about the values is the cues for the busses. Unlike the free for all at the other resorts.

food court -- big, lots of seats and some good food options

I am not a fan of double beds, but if there are just two of you you can request a King.

I think POP is personally okay. I too like the food court and you can get anything pretty much at any time. Yeah, the rooms aren't the greatest, but it's a realitively good deal and there's usually always buses in to go to one of the theme parks
