Ok
I’ve been lurking.
Maybe some of you have seen me around. :goodvibes I’m not quite a Disney bride, but you all have made me REALLY want to be!

I’m also not your ‘average’ bride. I’m a lesbian, so that makes it even stranger (I suppose) for me to be posting on a wedding board. However, I’m game, and Sungela is now my hero!

I’m kind of on the poorish side right now. I know my actual dreams of walking down the aisle in that amazing Ariel dress is not really going to happen because I’m not loaded, but I can dream! :bride: :bride:

So, what I am GOING to do is plan a vow renewal, and yes – at Disney World! However, it will be without the bells and whistles of a million people, and renting places, and all that exciting stuff that I’d LIKE to do.

My DW and I got ‘married’ back in 2005 in a little ceremony at our house. We had about 12 people. We did it at midnight in the themed ‘Disney Villains’ room of our house, and our only light was candlelight. Each of our guests held a candle that we lit for them when we walked into the room – and we had many candles going on up at the front where our officiant (my best friend) stood.

I’d always wanted a big wedding. The big floofy dress, the pretty outdoor walkway and the huge bash afterwards with the gargantuan cake. But alas, I couldn’t then, nor can I now, afford it so I had to make do. We had a beautiful ceremony though, and a sweet little get together the next day.

Here we are after the wedding:

I’ve just always wanted to do something at Disney. And I think I’ve come up with a little plan of my own. I’ve been reading some of your posts on here and getting some ideas, so I am hoping that will help me. I have a little over 2 years. I want to renew our vows on our 5-year mark: 11.19.2010. I’m also hoping, maybe the whole gay marriage thing will be legalized everywhere by then, but I won’t hold my breath. :worship:

I still need to ask the wife if she’ll agree to it yet. We have a trip planned for our three-year anniversary in November this year. I’d like to ask her during our anniversary dinner. Anyone have any creative ideas for me? We’re going to EPCOT that day and having dinner at LeCellier.

So far here is what I have planned for our 2010 mini ceremony. Which will be just her and I. We won’t have an officiant or any of that. But I do want to get some flowers, a cake and a photographer.

I want to do it at the Port Orleans Riverside. By the water. Early afternoon when it isn’t crowded.
My plan is for us to get new rings, and throw our actual original (which were not expensive) wedding rings (not engagement rings which WERE expensive!) into the water and replace them with something a little better. This way – there is a part of us always in WDW. :rotfl: Err, or in a fish at WDW maybe? At this time, we’ll say vows we’ve written to each other. I don’t want it to last too long, but just long enough for us.

I DO want to get dressed up. I’m still searching for dresses. Oh it’s not easy. Nor is the searching for rings!

After that, and a photo shoot. We’ll go to one of our Favorite WDW restaurants and have a magical lunch with our cake for dessert. I thought we’d go back to POR and do a horse drawn carriage to round out the day.

So far I’m on the search for: Rings and Dresses. I am going to make our jewelry and our head/hairpieces like I had done for our original wedding.

I’m also CONSIDERING making our cake.. but will probably turn that over to Disney, along with the flowers. I’ve seen those rose wands, and I am wondering if they do those with other types of flowers, and maybe feathers? I want a feather theme going thru this, since there was one in our original wedding.
So I’ve got tons of time.. but I’ll probably post here and there when I find dresses and rings. And I’ll def. Post my anniversary trip report if you want to hear it!

I’ve so enjoyed reading all of your wedding planning’s and trip accounts!
I can’t wait to become a part of this little board!

HELLO!! :cloud9:

:yay: YAY! Welcome! Can't wait to hear about your VR planning. I love the feather idea. I was thinking of doing feathers at my at home reception. I can't wait to hear more and about your anniversary trip.

WELCOME! :welcome:

Welcome to the boards! Sounds like you already have a good idea of what you want. Can't wait to hear some more details. That chocolate cake looks so yummy!

Yay, you started a PJ! It was starting to get a little lonely being the only poster with two Disbrides. I love your wedding outfits, and that cake looks to die for.

Thank you! I have lots of ideas which I'll be posting on Monday!

Thank you! It was pretty yummy. We were even able to save a little bit for our one year anniversary (which we spent in WDW.) :cool1:

Well now you aren't alone! :bride: :bride: I'm excited to be doing this. You were my inspiration. Everyone is so nice here. It's a welcome change from other boards. Thanks! The cake was reeally yummy. Chocolate on Chocolate - Migraine city!

So, like the mad Disney nut that I am, I've been a planning fool for the past several months with this trip we're going on in November. This is our 3 year anniversary trip, so I want it to be special. This is also the one where I am going to ask DW to marry me again! :goodvibes

I can't figure out how to ask her though. There was no formal proposal to begin with when we did get married. We just decided together - "hey lets get hitched!" So, we did it. I'd like this one to be special. :lovestruc

Points to note though -
*DW is NOT a big Disney nut like me. (for shame):confused3 This is not to say she doesn't like Disney, but the issue is that she thinks we need to 'stay home and save money.' While this is practical - yes, it's not at all fun to 'stay at home' on your anniversary. We did that last year, and I nearly cried. We went to work and came home, and made dinner and that was about it. I want to REMEMBER our anniversaries! We spent our first year at WDW so it's only fitting to try and do that at LEAST every other year! (at least I think so.) :rotfl:

*We also don't have a ton of money. I'd contemplated getting an anniversary cake made, as opposed to just asking for the cake at our TS restaraunt. (We're dining at LeCellier.) Those are so pricey though, and apparently they'll only do something really special (pictures or special sayings) if you buy a cake bigger than the two of us will need. I don't really want to carry this around the park though. I also contemplated making cupcakes for us to enjoy at the hotel. Buut I don't know.

So, I am not at all sure how, or where to ask her. It's not like she has a favorite spot in the 'World' as she's only been there one other time. If she had to pick a fave, it'd probably be Big Thunder Mountain, but we'll be in EPCOT on our Anniversary day, so I want it to happen there.

Any ideas?
I'm open!

This isn't going very far, and it's sad. I'm not even sure how to fix the title on my original post to tell whomever would like to know that I've updated.
I did however, buy my tickets today.

Not that you care right? :rotfl:

Hi just caught up on your journal!
to update your title go to your first post, edit, advanced, and simply change the title.

As far as something special what about going out of the park to one of the resort restaurants. Boma at the AKL was so fabulous and they gave us a free dessert plate for just getting engaged the day before. Id try a resort...they are more affordable and you get to see the resort.
