Best Non-Character Breakfast?

As a solo adult traveler, I rarely indulge in longer sit-down meals on my WDW trips. However, I was spoiled last year with the dining plan and have come to really enjoy a nicer meal now and then. On an upcoming trip in October, I have a large opening in my schedule where I will not be in a park (not going to MK until 4pm for MNSSHP). I will have spent the prior day at F&W, and will be eating primarily at CS for the rest of the trip. But on that Sunday, I have until 4pm with no park time. I'm hoping to spend some time at DTD and lounging at the resort pool, but I'm thinking it would be nice to have a late morning breakfast at a nicer sit-down place. I'm not opposed to lunch, but I absolutely love breakfast foods, and a 10:30/11am "brunch" sounds like a perfect vacation morning. I'm not looking for character interaction, it can't be in a park, but I'm willing to travel to other resorts or DTD, and dining plan is not a factor. Any suggestions?

If you're in DTD, hop on the boat to POR and have a late breakfast at Boatwright's. They have sweet potato pancakes that are amazing, along with your standard breakfast fare. I think you'd be happy with that choice.

Sweet potato pancakes sound perfect! Is Boatwrights an ADR type place or would a walk-in on an October Sunday be easy? I've never visited POR so that too sounds excellent!

Boatwrights??? OMG. Well we all have different tastes. I am a huge breakfast lover - well actually a huge foodie and one of the reasons I go to WDW is for its food. My all time favorite breakfast at the world is at Boma's. Absolutely amazing! Incredible omelot station, waffles, pancakes, all kinds of eggs, great potatoes, fruits, pastries, plus exotic things you don't usually find. Think the best breakfast buffet on property like Cape May and Park 1900 and Chef Mickey's and then take it one step higher. That is Boma's breakfast.

As far as non-character breakfasts go, my pick is for Kona Cafe at the Poly. I feel like their menu was broad and offered all kinds of breakfast choices and you can't beat their specialty, the tonga toast!

Ouch! Sorry if I offended your sophisticated taste buds. Yes, we all have different tastes. I have stayed at AKL, and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The OP mentioned he would be at DTD and the sweet potato pancakes at Boatwright's are superb. And if you've never been to Port Orleans, just strolling the beautiful grounds there is worth the trip. Thanks for sharing your opinion, but insulting mine seems a little over the top. But, then again, I'm not a foodie

Please be nice. I did say that I was looking for DTD area, and knowing that there is a reasonable option in that area at a resort I've never visited, sounds good to me. Maybe its not "The Best" but a solid recommedation is exactly what I was looking for. I've been to Boma and Kona for other meals (lunch/dinner) and loved it, so I don't doubt that breakfast is fabulous as well. I will definitely keep both of those in mind.

Any other suggestions? Maybe others in the DTD area? While I do have the time to resort hop (and said in my OP that I would), I'm starting to really like the idea of NOT spending 2 hours on buses. Anything in DTD (or close) have great breakfast options?

I've done Boatwright's for breakfast twice (last year in December) and although I did get an ADR each time just to be safe, I didn't think it was necessary. From what I saw walking past it during dinner hours though, I would say it is for dinner. And what's nice about POR is that is has a boat for going to DTD.

I too love breakfast foods - just about any kind and I love trying new and different breakfast foods. WPE has an Applewood Smoked Bacon Pizza and Crispy Cornflake French Toast that is delicious!! DH loves their omelets too! I've never tried the chocolate chip waffles, but I've heard they are great as well.

Ooh, those both sound delicious! Breakfast pizza is second only to pancakes on my list of favorite breakfast foods, so now I may have a tough choice. Thanks!! Its good to know that "sit-down" or not, there are some good breakfast options in DTD that aren't McDonald's. Thank you!

I'm tempted by a Boma breakfast, and know it would be worth it, but I've done it for dinner. I know its not the same experience at all, but going to AKL, experiencing the ambiance, strolling the resort, etc, is one of the few non-park days I've done. I loved it, but I feel like I should explore a few other resorts before returning to one I've done. Same thing with Kona at the Poly. That's the only other resort I've explored on non-park days. So, while I know I would love doing either of those, I also want to branch out to a new experience. And sweet potato pancakes at POR would be just that!
