Spliting Meals at Character Meals

We're taking our first trip to WDW this August. Since I'm really the only one stressing making sure everything is planned and reservations are reserved I'm beside myself. We're planning breakfast at Chef Mickey's and for a family of four (myself, JI (36), DI (9), RI (8)) I'm wanting to know if you can split a buffett plate. I know that sounds strange, but seeing that it will cost us about $60 for breakfast seems kind of crazy. I know I have to take in mind that it's eating with Mickey or Goofy etc., but it's the budgeting part of me that's throwing me off. Hope someone can help.

You can't split buffets!

Maybe you should look into the Dining Plan if you want to do some character meals. With 2 children it should be a good deal as long as you use your TS.

Have you booked an ADR? What time in August are you going? The end of August is the start of Free Dining, if you haven't booked anything you might not get a ADR.

No, sadly, you can't split an all you can eat buffet at WDW any more than you can at home.

If it's breaking the budget, you might skip the character breakfast and just catch up with the characters at the park for free. :thumbsup2

If only that were the case! Lol...

I now have 2 that are considered ADULTS at ages 10 and 11. It is hard at this point to justify the buffet prices for them. This year we have Ohana brek. and Cape May Clam Bake booked as they are must do's but I am having second thoughts because of the buffet pricing for them.

It is really all about the "entertainment" and atmosphere at the character TS anyway.

Good Luck deciding

It's expensive. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do.

I have one idea though. Why don't you schedule the b-fast for the latest time possible and treat it as a combo breakfast / lunch. Then you'll get to only eat 2 meals that day which may help with savings. You could have the kids have something small like a banana for breakfast so that they get something to eat for breakfast, but nothing too big. Then you could load up at Chef Mickey's and be good until dinner.

I've never done this b/c I prefer a big breakfast and a smalll lunch, but there's no reason it couldn't work out.
