Trails End

We have reservations for dinner at Trails End on August 6th and I just heard they have changed their food and it is not good, has anyone else had any experience with this?

They can't change it much (at least for dinner) as it incorporates the HDD. The menu on All-Ears looks pretty much the same as when we ate there back in May.

I'd be interested in knowing this as well. We love Trail's End and try to eat there as often as possible.

:thumbsup2 We also ate there this past May and it was the same items listed on the menu. We found the food to be "okay" and plentiful. It was normal buffet-style food (fried chicken, meat-carving station, salad bar, dessert bar, soup bar). My favorite was the chili (Which was probably from a can. But, tasted so yummy!). I got some rice off the buffet and put the chili over it and sprinkled it with shredded cheese (I made up my own meal with all the offerings. ). That was really good! The apple cobbler was good too (I put some of the soft-serve ice cream on it!). If we were staying at Fort Wilderness, we'd eat there again. However, I wouldn't make the trek if I was staying at another resort.

 Keep in mind, everyone has different likes and dislikes. That is why we take other people's opinions "into consideration" and then go and make our own opinion. ;)

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

This is what I read. Doesn't look like the menu changed but how it is made.
"If you are a regular at Trails End you may be in for a surprise. We visited it on July 14 for dinner and found that it had changed. The server told us that they had made changes and were seeking guest feedback and we told him what we thought. The ribs are now immersed in barbecue sauce that conceals a markedly inferior product, the fried chicken was sopping with grease, not crispy at all, and the salmon was tasteless and bland. Even the macaroni and cheese had a margarine taste. I hope Trails End hasn't reached the end of the trail."

This is why I asked for others opinions, if everyone has the same opinion, then maybe we wouldn't try it, but if it was mixed reviews, we would try it

We've had many good meals at TE. Remember, this is not fine dining by no means, but is a favorite esp if you have lots of kids and boys of all sizes to feed. My guys love this place.....can you say AYCE pizza! I do generally only do lunch here and I try never to be there when it opens at noon. I always kid my husband that the leftover chicken from HDDR is put out for lunch the next day......We like to venture over around 1:00PM. We are not big fans of dinner here because it is only a slight step above lunch but cost $5 more a head, not really worth it to us. We do like the boat ride over and the relaxed feel of this place.

:sad2: Sounds like bad cooking as opposed to changing the menu. Same "items" we had in May. But, ours tasted just fine.

We were just there July 4th we thought the food was good. The chicken was still very good as were the ribs. I'm sorry I can't recall any sauce on the ribs.

The food is not gourmet by anyones imagination just good home-style cooking.

we were discussing this on the camping board and another poster mentioned they were going there tonight and would post back. They came back to report that it was as good as ever so no need to worry! it must have been an off night or something. Trails End remains one of the better buffet lunch and dinner deals in disney! dinner is a little more but there is a whole other section set up that isn't there for lunch. Get ken for your server, you won't be sorry!

Thanks, We appreciate it. We are looking forward to going to the Fort and Trails End on our last day. We plan to ride the boats and just take our time, we might get to the movie.
