We have a reservation at the sci-fi restaurant but want to know if it is scary for young kids (6 ans 4 yo) Thank you!

No, it's not scary at all. The "movies" are like coming attractions of the 1950's campy sci-fi movies. They'll love it.

I would think it would be OK. It is dark, but lighter than a bedroom with a night light on. The movies are kind of silly - the sci fi type of flicks with people dressed in giant rubber suits to portray "monsters" and it is only the trailers they show anyway.

thank you! It's the "movies" I was concerned about...don't want my husband telling me again about my poor judgment!! :lmao:

When we dined there in June is seemed as though they had more cartoons than before. I think they'll like just based on atmosphere alone. Have fun!

It is actually my 2 boys, ages 8 & 5, favorite place in the World to eat! LOL

We have been eating there each year since the 5 year old was 2.

We are a party of 5. We all get a car. The 2 boys drive. They sit in the front seat. My husband & I sit in the middle then we put Grandma in the back by herself. LOL

We love that place. The boys are quiet while we are there. They really think they are at a drive-in. It's a lot of fun. Have a great time.

do you have to ask for a car?

It seems lot of fun! I think my kids would love to "drive" the car!!

They have tables and cars, but we have never had to "request" a car. That makes me wonder if maybe you have to request a table. It seems like I remember reading on the boards that if you have a child in a high chair, you will get a table...but I can't remember the details. Maybe someone can answer that for you.

When you check in, you may just want to let them know that you would like to have a car. That way you will be sure to get one.

Have a great time!

They will usually ask when you check in if you would be okay with a table or would you prefer the car. Large groups are more than likely going to get a table. We opted to wait a little longer and sit in the car. We just rested outside for a bit. The movies are not scary. They are more just like the previews of old movies like The Blob or Dracula. (Not saying these are them, just sorta along those lines.) It is a little darker in there than most restaurants, but not so dark that a child would be scared I don't think.
My kids really enjoyed this restaurant and wanted to go back this year, but it is my birthday the day we are going to DHS and I wanted to try 50's Primetime Cafe.

It is actually assumed that you want a car...But they will give you the option of taking the table if it is available first...We actually requested/reserved a car a couple of years ago because we needed a high chair...Tables are best for people with babies and those on the larger side...So you can ask for one but most people want the car....Therefore, tables are usually open quicker and available if you want to sit more quickly...But otherwise you will get a car...

As far as being scarey...It was not for our kids...The baby was 2 the first time we went and he was not afraid at all....In fact all three times we have been our small boys sit quietly and watch the movies...The movies are terrific at keeping our boys well behaved.

My 6 & 4 year olds loved it! (The milkshake didn't hurt!)

They told me when I checked in that your ADR guarantees you a car.

My 10 yr old niece and 3 yr old daughter really liked the atmosphere. My niece is afraid of everything too but really liked it. The movies are corny and funny, not scary in the least.

I just wish the food and service matched the atmosphere!

its very dark but so well themed that we go every trip. we have one DD5 who inst afraid of much and we always have fun, great shakes and onion rings, food isnt amazing, (think Denneys burgers:lmao: _) but we always eat here,
some movie clips are dinosaur, blob like but I warn her before we go and she is fine.
