??? About Camping Storage

We bought our first travel trailer last fall, and I had asked for opinions about camper storage. At that point it was too late for us to consider it for the rest of the year. While I'm really leery of leaving it somewhere, we live in NEPA, and really have to winterize it from November 'till April. We love camping, and would really like to use it during the winter months. We have a Disney trip planned at FW this Christmas so we really need to leave it somewhere so we don't need to worry about the weather ruining our trip! Any insights or recommendations would greatly be appreciated! Thanks!

Buy or rent an yearly/monthly site in a campground that Stay's open. I own a site in Cecilton md. I don't winterize untill mid dec .


Lot to buy $3500.00 to $6000.00
Yearly dues 1200.00

If I stored the MH it would cost me $1800+ per year

I don't look at winterizing as that big a deal. It only takes me about 10-15 minutes to run the antifreeze through the lines and it's a pretty cheap operation. I live in SEPA so we don't get quite as cold as you, but I used to live in the mountains of NWPA. If it was gonna get cold, I'd just run the antifreeze through it. Then when we went to Disney in October or November, I'd just clear the lines at FW. Just before we left to go home, I'd just run the antifreeze through again. It sure is cheaper than renting a spot somewhere year round.

While we are concerned about winterizing it--although it doesn't seem like a big deal the way you describe it--maybe it's because DH was new to it that it seemed like a major project... Anyway, he is concerned about towing a tt on icy roads with 4 kids in the car. That is why we are looking at storage as an option again. (I'm not sold yet--I am afraid to part with it) We did camp at a place in SC that stores them, and fell in love with the place, but it is 15 hours away! Thanks for your feedback.

Agree with Jim... or you can use an air compressor to blow out the lines, and open your hot water heater valve. Pour a little anti-freeze in the drains and tanks. 15 minutes and $1.00 cost. I don't like not being able to keep an eye on something that costs that much.

Oh, so you are saying you want to store it somewhere South, and pick it up on the way to WDW in the winter??

I guess that's what we were thinking originally--being newbies--you know, the South should = WARMTH!! But we are open to anything that will enable us to use the camper more during the winter months. DH is very interested in reading what the previous posters said about winterizing it, and not storing it. You guys are the experts, so I figured I would ask for ideas here!
