Question??? Since when is MyPoints or Bzz considered a Disney reward exclusively?

It seems any talk of MyPoints AND BzzAgent is being sent to the DISNEY REWARDS forum. I do not understand why because it is not for just getting things for Disney. My post was about getting a JCPenney card which will be used for back to school shopping. I think saving money on back to school clothes is more appropriate on the Budget Board than a Disney Rewards forum since there is not a JCPenney anywhere on Disney property.

For BUDGET Board:
Learn the 'in and outs' of smart earning, saving, and spending your money. Our motto: 'Any dollar saved or earned is another dollar for Disney!' Be sure to visit our DIScounts Page for more Disney money saving tips!

For DISNEY REWARDS:
This forum is for the discussion of various Disney Rewards programs. It is NOT for the purpose of solicitation of referrals in any form. Posts that solicit referrals will be deleted.

Info about Bzzing (getting FREE products to try out) and using MyPoints to get gift cards to save money on "whatever" is "Any dollar saved or earned is another dollar for Disney"

I agree with you!:thumbsup2

I had no idea this was happening - I am just used to coming to the Budget board and finding stuff on Bzz Agent, Coke Rewards, MyPoints, etc. here. Are they going to start moving that all over there?:confused3 It does not make sense to pick and choose - kind of sounds like they are either going to have to leave it here or change the name and purpose of the Rewards board.

If they do decide to relocate everything, I have a sneaking suspicion that many of the Budgeteers will be relocating also!::yes::

Oh well, I guess the powers that be will have to decide and I will just follow - but I sure wish someone would provide some clarification....:rolleyes1

I don't KNOW if this is the answer, but I *believe* that the forum you're talking about was never about "disney rewards", but of rewards sites where you can earn for Disney. When I very first joined one of the sites, there was more than one site offering Disney giftcards and dollars as a redemption option, therefore, they were Disney rewards, if not "disney rewards" as in the $$ you get on a disney rewards card for having a Disney credit card.

I think it's just a problem with the naming of that forum. Maybe they can change it (but I doubt it, b/c when I pointed out a typo in a sub-forum name a year ago, nothing could be done about it...they can't change things later on, I guess).

Also they are VERY worried about people requesting, offering, or offering to offer referrals. If there's even a hint that someone might want to offer their referral there is trouble. I once told someone if they had more questions about something to PM me (b/c we were taking over another person's thread), and I got in trouble for soliciting a referral and an inappropriate link, when NO suggestion (or thought of it) was made at all (and I hadn't put a link to anywhere in the post). Of course it's hard to find rules in any one place, and I looked and looked when that happened, b/c I hadn't done anything wrong that I could find, just the suggestion of possibly in the future doing something wrong.

It has been going on for awhile now with others. I think the mods are just leveling the playing field.

I think the idea of a board here dedicated to rewards programs is great. The problem is with its' location. It is all the way at the end of the list. I personally think it should be right under the budget board or even a sub-category of the budget board. That way ALOT more people would find it and benefit from the information presented there!

The point is though not everyone is saving money or earning things for Disney alone. I am earning for back to school clothes or gas cards.

Talking about Bzz Agent and getting a toothbrush or some Ziploc bags will NOT get me to Disney. Using my points at MyPoints to get a JCPenney card will NOT get me to Disney.

I never thought it (Disney Rewards forum)was for having a Disney Visa.

I really like that idea! :thumbsup2 I hope the mods will read and consider this!:goodvibes

I think this would continue to be an ongoing problem no matter where they post it! I'm not so sure changing the location will help :confused3

I don't think it's limited to rewards posts, I've seen a lot more OT posts get moved lately- which is surprising to me because the last post I had seen by a mod explained that some people are just more at home here- the budget board is their dis 'family' so OT posts were allowed. Probably just depends on the mod.

I think when the rewards board was started it was meant not just as a Disney Rewards board but an all around Rewards board that allowed you to earn money or cards for anywhere. Say if you earned gas cards but were flying you could still use the cards at home and save the money you would have spent on gas for your Disney trips. So in a round about way you were still saving for Disney. And loooooooong ago it moved a bit faster because we had a reward site the hid "Beenz" that posters would help each other out on the location of the beenz.

I really don't see that its that big of a deal to just post all the Reward type posts there. All you have to do is save the page to your favorites. :confused3 There's already quite a few people that post off-topic stuff here because they for some reason trust the budget board peeps more than the peeps on the community board. Give the Rewards Board a chance.

The Rewards Board IS for all rewards-type programs. It does not matter how you decide to spend those rewards. Threads that are about GPT and rewards programs should be posted there and not on the Budget Board. The Rewards Board has been in existence for a long time and it is not fair for us to steal their traffic. There will not be a Budget Board subforum that would only be a copy of the Rewards Board. To do so would be redundant.

With regard to other "OT" posts: It would be a good idea to check the many other forums that the DIS has in order to see if there is another forum which is better suited to the topic at hand. As it states in the Posting Guidelines:
6. STAYING ON TOPIC: Each of the DIS boards focuses on a specific topic. Please look the choices over before posting on the wrong board. For instance, you don't want to ask about park hours on the Restaurants Board or tell everyone about your stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort on the Disney Cruise Line Board. It makes it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for when the boards stay on topic.

While we love the fact that y'all consider the Budget Board your home, sometimes it's important to leave your living room and check out what's going on in the rest of the neighborhood.

I'm not suggesting another board. All I am suggesting is simply moving where the rewards board is stituated. It now sits at the very end between Just say Thanks and the Rumors board. Sorry but the placement doesn't make much sense. I would think that more rewards posts would be properly placed if the board was placed near the budget board (or relocated to be a sub-forum of the budget board.)

Wow... I never expected this to become a debate and I certainly do not like the undertone - as I am sure others do not either. If I had time to explore my neighborhood all the time I would - but for me it is a whole lot easier to do a quick look around the livingroom! And furthermore if we all had that kind of time to explore this entire site there are a lot of other sites out there that are worthy of exploring also!

I think the point that many were trying to make is that one feels comfortable with people they regularly communicate with - especially when it comes to a personal topic and they might be more willing to post with people they know than go to a whole new room and give it a go there. I certainly do not wish to sort through all the one word posts that are present on the rewards board and are so frequent that they are almost always covering the front page!

I do not think anyone meant any harm by posting in this thread and the OP specifically mentioned that. Others voiced their opinion and I assumed that would be welcome as the only way to solve a problem is to gather input and figure out why the problem came into being in the first place. I don't think any of us wanted to be preached at about living rooms or neighborhoods.

Sorry... but for a mod your post came out pretty rough and rather judgemental.... I think it could of been worded a lot more friendly and more postively! I obey and respect rules but there was no reason to be so blunt and agitated - I did not think that was what the Dis was all about! And if I were a new visitor here after reading your post I would be rather afraid to even attempt to start a thread because I was not exactly sure exactly where to put it...

Anyone in their right mind can easily see that so many topics can overlap... perhaps we need a place to post where we should post a thread?

Oh and by the way - I just went back and looked closely at the very first page of the budget board. Looks like you have an awful lot of moving to do. I only see a few threads that can even remotely be considered budget. You should have a pretty busy night ahead of you and we will all be busy trying to find the threads we are interested in tommorow.:(

:thumbsup2 I agree with this. I never knew that board was there. It took me a minute to find it due to it's strange location on this board.

I will just have to learn to check out that board now for my Buzz info.

Stupid me - I was wondering where all the BzzAgent threads went to.

:thumbsup2 Exactly....face painting......spread sheets for accepting a job....beaches.....disney movie club......restaurants.....DC on the 4th of July.....the list goes on and on with things that have zero to do with budgets but saving money for school clothes by using an earned gift card or getting a free product gets moved?????????? Give me a break.
I guess if you are not a member of the photo cd/fridge/everything under the sun swaps you are just ..............oh never mind.
So ...considering CVS requires a reward card to save money and get the good deals all of those threads will now go to the Rewards board ....correct????

The webmasters are the ones who chose the locations of the various forums on the DIS homepage. It was their decision to have the Rewards Board located in the "Just For Fun" group while the Budget Board is in the "Trip Planning" group. Moving a forum to another category is not as easily done as you might think. The same can be said for absorbing the Rewards Forum into the Budget Board as a subforum. Certainly all four moderators of this forum and the Rewards Board moderating team could take the idea under consideration.

I'm sorry that you read an attitude into my reply. It certainly wasn't meant to be judgemental or harsh. That's the problem with the written vs. the spoken word. You can't hear the tone or inflections with the written word and it can come across entirely different from the way the author intended.

However, the Budget Board has been more and more off-topic lately and as Dagny mentioned back in April ( http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1790801&page=1&highlight= ), we need to get back to budget-related topics. There are forums on the DIS for discussing family, cooking, pin trading, offsite resorts, the DDP and a plethora of other topics. It would be nice if our members would take the time to explore those areas. But if you should post a thread to the Budget Board that is more appropriate to another board, then it's not a big deal. The moderators can just move the thread to where it is better suited and leave a redirecting link to show you where it went. No one is going to chide you for posting in the wrong forum.

Aha.

Well, whenever I get a card for something I would otherwise have paid money for, I DO consider it getting me closer to Disney. Less money I'm paying out of pocket for mundane things, more money in my pocket for Disneyland trips!

I think this would continue to be an ongoing problem no matter where they post it! I'm not so sure changing the location will help :confused3

Agreed.

The Rewards Board IS for all rewards-type programs. It does not matter how you decide to spend those rewards.

Thing is, it's not the "Rewards Board". It's Disney Rewards Programs. It is NOT the first thing a person thinks of, when they think "I wonder where to find out about that Bzz thing I keep reading about." :goodvibes (please note I am not part of that program and the quote was not to indicate an advertisement)

But as I know from the typo suggestion I made about a year ago, names of forums can't be changed, so I guess there's nothing to be done. :confused3
