The Great Make Up Trip Of 2008~7/22- SEE YOU REAL SOON! (pg. 86) ~COMPLETED~

So today is day 5 of our trip, but day 4 of our time at Disney. Which means it is already our 2nd to last day since we are only staying 5 nights this time.

Today is our "official" Magic Kingdom day. We had breakfast ressie's at Crystal Palace before the park opened, just as we do each time we go. This time it just didn't seem as magical. Not sure exactly what it was. Guess just a combination of things. We were seated on the right side when there were still plenty of tables on the left. Not sure why, but this made it extremely long before the characters came around. Our waiter couldn't have cared less about anything. He was all business and no fun. He had no sense of humor and I got the impression that he didn't much like kids. Not sure why he'd take a job in a place like that but, whatever. DH and I wanted to leave earlier because we could tell it would be a LOOOONG time before we could see each one, but DS wasn't having it. We were there for almost 2 hours. The park had long been open by the time we got out of there. :( This is usually a tradition with us but I think I'm giving up that tradition.

We headed over to the Indy track because that's what DS requested to do first. We got fastpasses to Buzz Lightyear on the way. Hey Rosie and Jordan, remember this bush?? :rotfl2:

I need to pause here and tell you something I forgot to tell you the first night we rode Buzz this trip...... We rode it about 2-3 times that night and each time, the ride either stopped or the guns weren't working properly. Ok, back to the present.... Here are a couple of pic's from the speedway:

(ds is in there, you just can't see him:lmao: )

It was at this moment that my car suddenly started going crazy!! It started banging itself back and forth on the track and I couldn't steer it. I couldn't stop because there was a line of cars. A CM came out and pulled on the steering wheel and it came out! He said just hit the gas and bring it around to the front and that myself and DH/DS could go again. COOL!:hyper:

After another round of indy cars, we got on the people mover again. We seem to ride this A LOT each time we are at WDW. When we get off, it's time for BUZZ!! We quickly head over to Winnie the Pooh for a fastpass, then back to Buzz to ride....

When we get on the ride and get to the point where it lets you control the car with the joystick, the numbers went crazy and then blank. :( Then, we tried to use the joystick....NOTHING! We all just sat back and rode because there was nothing else to do. When we got off, I tried to tell the CM walking the conveyor. His name tag said his name was FRANK and I'm here to tell you that he was a turd!! He glared at me out of the corner of his eye, then rolled his eyes at me and KEPT WALKING!!!:furious: :furious: :furious: We went back around to the front and told the CM there that the ride wasn't working properly and I also told her of "Frank". She apologized about the ride and told me where to go to complain about Frank. She then let us in to ride again. This time, when we were let into the 2nd portion of the line, we rounded the corner, only to find.........A MEMBER OF THE DREAM TEAM!!! She was handing out Year of a Million Dreams Lanyards & pin sets. :woohoo: How cool!!! Suddenly, I wasn't so mad about Frank any more. After all, had he not been a turd that day, we wouldn't have won a YOMD prize. :rotfl: We did our ride, and I told DH that he might as well take DS out ahead of me because I planned on having a little chat with Frank on my way out. (Oh Yes, I did)....I told Frank... "Thank you for being such a turd to me earlier because now myself and my family won these YOMD lanyards", "I'll be sure to tell the supervisors at Guest Services all about it when I get up to 'City Hall'"."Have a nice day". :) His mouth was wide open, and as I walked off I saw a girl CM standing on the side laughing because she heard the entire thing. ::yes:: I did not go to tattle tell on Frank. I thought that letting him sweat it for a few minutes or hours was punishment enough. Besides, it put us in the right place at the right time. Who am I to mess with destiny?? :confused3 :wizard:

UP NEXT.....Winnie The Pooh, many other rides, and DS is brave AGAIN!!!

How great you got the lanyard! For every Frank I think there are 20 great CMs , but one Frank can cause sooo much harm!!

I don't want to say YAY to Frank for being a jerk but at least it got you something cool! Those pins are great! Props to you for telling him off tho!

****First an announcement!! I'm excited to say that we have just booked our next vacation....a land/sea vacation in June 2009!! Now all we have to do is wait an ENTIRE YEAR for it to get here! I probably won't be doing a PTR on it because I've just done 5 TR's back to back (counting PTR's and TR's). I'm sort of wiped out. I will most likely do a TR after the trip, though! We will get to stay at the Poly for the land portion which is another HUGE exciting thing for us. We booked a room with a verandah and our cruise portion will make stops at Nassau and Castaway Cay.

Ok back to this TR....

We head over to ride Winnie the Pooh. I attempted to take pic's inside the ride which I've never done before. No flash, of course and this is how they turned out. So, I gave up on it. :rotfl:

After Pooh, we decide to head over to Splash Mountain to get a fastpass because DS said he was going to ride it! Hmmmm, I wonder if he really will???
Along the way, we were just in time to catch Woody's Round up! DS suddenly got shy and wouldn't participate which sort of irked me but oh well. Here are pic's from that....

Next we head over to Splash Mountain to get fastpasses. It's still sort of early in the morning (around 10-10:30am) and the standby line said 10 minutes!! So we decided to go for it. DS was super excited and didn't start getting nervous until we got ON the ride. Then it was a zillion questions. First they put me and DS in the front seat but we swapped with DH because I thought DS would be too scared. Off we went.....I forgot that there are many smaller & medium sized drops throughout the ride before the BIG ONE. This made DS soooooo nervous. He got himself all worked up wanting to know where the "big slide" was. I kept him busy by pointing out the characters. There was a dad and his son close to my DS's age sitting right behind us. I could hear the little boy bragging about being so brave, etc. Everytime DS would sound like he was going to cry, that little boy bragged to his dad about how excited he was for the 'BIG ONE'. When it came time and we started going UP, UP, UP. I could tell DS was TERRIFIED and I started feeling like the bad mommy again. I told him...."you know how when you want to slide on the playground, you have to climb up the ladder first??" he said "yeah", so I told him "that's what we are doing right now. It's like we are climbing the ladder to the slide" He felt a little better once he knew exactly what was happening. I just sort of narrarated it until we got to the opening at the top. I said "ok, we're here". He held on tight to the handle bar and I had my arm around him. He said "you got me, mama??" I said "I sure do!!" "HERE WEEEE GOOOOOO......AAAAGGGHHHHH!!!" I forgot just how steep that thing is!!! BAD-BAD-BAD MOMMY!!!! Inner thoughts....."OH SH#@, HE'S NEVER GOING TO FORGIVE ME" :lmao: When we got to the bottom, DS was whoooping and yelling for joy. He was so excited that he did it and did not cry at all. The little brave boy that was siting behind us, was now in complete hysterics. Just goes to show, you never know what kids are going to do sometimes.:confused3 Ok, sorry for the long story. Just proud of my DS because I know he really struggled with it the entire time. Here's our ride photo. :rotfl2: You can't even see DS, I've got him so tight plus DH is blocking him. DH is just sitting there like nothing is happening, and my face clearly shows...."OH NOOOO...MY BABY!!" :lmao:

Ok, on with the story. We then got fastpasses for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Then we grabbed lunch at Columbia Harbour House. DH and I got the fish and DS got the chicken. I like that you can get fruit on the side and yogurt for desert here. After lunch we rode BTMRR. DS didn't want to ride so DH and I took turns. I haven't ridden this ride since 1997 either (same as Splash Mountain). I forgot how rough it was. I was seated in the front seat by myself. There was a girl and guy behind me. During one of the curves, it whipped me from one side to the other and I swear I almost flew out!! From then on I rode with my hands straight out to either side of the seat to stop me from sliding in the curves. I heard a scream behind me when this happened too. When the ride stopped I turned around and asked them if they saw me almost fly out. The girl said..."did you hear me scream?" I said "yes", she said "that was for you!!! I thought you were gone!!" :lmao: After I rode and DH rode, we gave the extra fastpass away and decided to head out for DS's nap. By this time it was around noon and it was HOT.

While DS had his nap, DH and I discussed what to do after our dinner ressie's at Planet Hollywood. I made this ADR back when the WDW calendar stated that the MK would close at 7pm but not for a pirate and princess party. However, right before our trip they changed it and MK was now open till 11pm. Since we had visited MK after our Kona dinner on our 2nd night, we've now ridden all the rides at MK. We decided it would be fun to head back over to Epcot and catch Illuminations since we've never seen it before. So that's just what we did. We took a walk around WS again and I finally got to get my Grey Goose Slush Martini.
Here are pics from dinner at Planet Hollywood in DTD.

My tribute to Jordan...
2594908015_c6203f11a3.jpg

We find DS some popcorn that he's been begging for, for 3 days!! Then we grab a bench out front of Germany and just people watch for awhile. DH commented on how there are MANY couples who have a much older man with a younger woman. :confused3 So, what are you trying to say??? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:
2594910785_a363e900c2.jpg

We start walking again, all the while keeping our eye out for an open bench to sit and watch Illuminations from. We cross the bridge and are in front of China and we see a bench. We stop and set up camp there. Here are some pic's of our surroundings...
Looking back toward America:

Looking toward Future World:
2595747216_4983f02941.jpg

Straight out. View of the water and fireworks barges. Notice the tree on the left?? Make a mental note...this is NOT the best place to sit for Illuminations. The globe stayed directly behind this tree during the entire show and we couldn't see it at all. We did enjoy the fireworks portion but still have no idea what happens with the rest of the show. :lmao:

This little guy kept watch over us while we waited for the show to begin...

And this concludes Day 5. Up next.....our last day...or is it???

:thumbsup2 For DS for being so brave on Splash Mountain. Next time you go on BTMRR ask for the back, it's lots better. ::yes::

Planet Hollywood looks fun.

I'm so glad you and FJ got your Grey Goose Slushie! :goodvibes
