So we just moved to Tampa in January and have been bitten by the Disney World bug. We went in April, last week, and now have booked one night in the Contemporary on the 4th. Because it's so crowded we are skiping the park on the holiday and planning to spend the day in the pools and watch the fireworks from there. Then Friday we will head to one of the parks. Not sure which one.

So any tips on where at the hotel is the best to view fireworks? (And if this has been done, i'm sorry!)

well, you can go out onto the 4th floor viewing areas for free, or book dinner at the California Grill and watch from there...the dinner will run about $200 tho...personally, we just walked to the front of the resort...sort of inbetween the tower bulding and the walk way to MK,,,watched the desplay, and then quick ran backto the dock to see the Electric Water Pageant go by at 10:05, got to see both things back to back. Iam sending you a PM.....

If you don't have the Tower Magic Kingdom View my suggestion is trying the 4th floor observation deck, just get there early because I am sure there will a lot of people wanting to watch the fireworks from there. Besides that location I have seen guests stand in the middle of the valet parking lot, or just by the bus station.

It will be body to body people on the observation deck so do get there very early! ::yes::

We stayed in CR tower, MK side (before it was a catagory) and decided to go to MK, then EPCOT for the day on the 4th - it was beyond crowded!! Line for POC ws all the way down to the Treehouse! EPCOT was no better, but byt the time we headed back to the resort we got stuck at TTC and had to watch the fireworks in middle of the crushing crowd instead of from our CR balcony!! Lesson learned! ;)

The parks were quiet up until the 4th, but from the 4th on the crowds were massive. We've never visited over a holiday again.

Well, we did for Thanksgiving weekend once, but that was quite managable :)

So, get to the deck early and expect massive crowds the next day....and have a fantastic time!!! :goodvibes

Well, we'll be neighbors for the 4th of July !

We'll be at The Poly, watching from the beach. :goodvibes

As for The Contemporary, I would imagine The California Grill is booked solid by now, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

If I were you, I'd skip the 4th floor deck, (too crowded for our taste) and just watch from the bus stop or valet lot as stated above. Once the show starts, you'll lose track of where you are standing, anyway. :hyper:

We have no intention of going in the parks that day, either. Just relax by the pool and maybe ride over to Fantasia Gardens for a round or two of 'putt putt'.

Have a wonderful time.

Welcome to the boards! Its easy to get bit by the Disney bug when you live in Florida:thumbsup2 Enjoy the 4th at CR. Its my favorite resort, and would be amazing to see Wishes on this holiday. If you dont have an MK view, then my vote would be to try to at least go to the bar at Cali Grill to see the show. If you have an MK view, then I would get some room service, and just enjoy the show from your balcony:thumbsup2

If I am not mistaken in years past the California Grill does a special event for the 4th of July that is $$$$$....I think it is a BBQ theme and if remember correctly it was at least $300 pp.

Thanks for the suggestions! We've made reservations at new restaraunt and should be finishing up about a half hour before the fireworks if not sooner. So I guess we'll just find a place to stand outside. Thanks for the tips!

Joshua_me, I hope your son has a great birthday!

(We thought about staying at the Poly and just watching from there but were trying to try a new place!)
