Halloween Horror Nights 2008

I ve been waiting for a while now to hear any news on this years HHN, have never been to one before but have watched many vids on Youtube of this event & it looks amazing. I will be especially happy if Freddy Kruegar makes an appearance :thumbsup2

We made sure when booking our trip to Orlando that the dates we picked would allow us to attend both MNSSHP & HHN. We ve got tickets for the Disney event so am now just waiting for the announcement of this years HHN.

We re only going in to Universal once HHN starts up so will we still need to have a universal park ticket or is the HHN ticket all we will need??

dates are already up.
look at the thread i started in the forum....
hhn.......411
it has the dates and prices listed.

to answer your other question:

you do not need a day ticket to the parks for HHN. only need the HHN tix.
but, you will not be able to enter the park for the stay and scream area if you do not have a day ticket.

you can do hhn for the hard ticket event but you will have to stand in line to enter the park.

HHN begins at 6:30 to the general admission group.
get in the line early so you don't waste park time !!

i have seen people starting the wait line at 5:15 last year.
those in the front of that line will get in earlier than the ones that come to the park around 6:15

I am going on opening night (Friday 26th).

Macraven, thank you so much for all of your help and guidance relating to HHN.

I've been on a few chat boards in my time and have never met such a friendly & helpful bunch of people!

we are a friendly bunch of homies here.
we love talking universal and hhn..........:goodvibes

since you are going on opening night, i would recommend you get the express pass.
it will have its crowd as the FFP will be valid for that night for hhn.

if you have the day ticket, do not leave the park at closing time at 5:00.
the security will make everyone leave but if you show them your HHN ticket, they will direct you to the stay and scream area.

this is a place where you wait until security has everyone out of the park.
at that time, you get the go ahead to start on the event before the guests out in the line can enter.

there will be 3 houses open and ready for the s & s groups.

if you have a day ticket, buy the ADD ON ticket for hhn.
it is cheaper.

and get the express pass as then you can repeat some of the rides you did prior to the crowds building in the park.

that is my suggestion.

the express pass allows you to use the express lane for each ride/ attraction/ show only once.

usually the bill and teds show only lets the first show of the evening/around 7ish/ be utilized for the ex pass.

do the houses and when the posted time is about 20 minute wait, start to use your ex pass then.

can anyone of you help me with this?

i hate to see it be dropped.
i love the day tours for HHN.

you can go thru 3 of the houses and take as many pictures you want.
your tour guide will give background information of the house and hhn event that not many are aware of.

please help me save the UTH..........

I remember getting let in from the main queue at 6pm last year (we were at the front and were there just under an hour) - so what's the advantage to S&S? An extra half hour? or more? What time do they let you out into the rest of the park?

It's probably not worth it for us because we don't go on weekends, will probably go at least twice, and have the express pass one night. We did about 3 houses last year before needing the passes, and then later on in the night Dead Silence dropped back down to a 5/10 minute wait time also, so we did 6 houses and B&T that night, and the first night (before we got wise to Express Passes ;) and I was so tired that first night) we did 2 houses, B&T, RHS tribute & Jack's show. We only ended up missing the Freak Show over both nights.
My DF went back to some of the houses we hadn't used the Express Passes for the second night, but once round was enough for me - I'm such a wuss! :rotfl2:

last year on the non peak nights i noticed that especially on sunday, the line from IOA did enter the park at 6:00.

IOA closes at 6 in the evening on hhn nights and you can, or at least last year, could get over to the studios side for hhn from ioa.

i start early and don't use my ex pass in the beginning.
i do doubles and triples sometimes on the house.
i start to use my ex pass once the wait line hits 20 minute wait.

and usually able to do the houses the last hour it is open without the ex pass on some nights.

Personally...I wouldn't do HHN w/o doing S & S and having Express passes in hand. You waste too much time in the outside lines.

macraven just said they got let through from IOA at 6pm last year, but we were in the outside queue and I seem to remember getting let in about the same time.....

Although thinking about it, perhaps that was just letting us through the metal detectors and then we had to wait at the gates for a while. Oh dear, my memory :rotfl:

I think what we did last year worked well for us without spending more money of the S&S, and we were newbies then, so we may even have a better strategy next time! Plus with frequent fear passes, we can always go back. 2 nights with 1 express night should be plenty for us. We did go quite early in the season though, does it get busier the later into the run it gets? (we would only do FF nights, so no weekends)

Do they only release a limited number of S&S though, or can anyone do it? I'd hate to be the only person who didn't do this and be stuck clawing at the outside gate " pleeeeease let me in" :lmao:

How do I get a S& S pass. I haven't bought any general tickets yet. Will the stay and scream work with the 7 day ticket. Also I was thinking on buying a FF pass. What would be best?

You should buy the FF pass if you're planning on going more than one night. Remember...the FF pass is only good on offpeak nights so it's not good on Fridays or Saturdays (except opening weekend). Otherwise, stick with the add-on S & S ticket.

you have many options.

if you buy the FFP, that is your hhn tix for the non peak nights plus opening night.

you can buy the ADD ON ticket for HHN then.
if you buy the 7 day promo ticket, you can buy the ADD ON for hhn also.

the stay and scream tickets are on sale on the website now.

anyone with a day ticket to the parks can buy the hhn add on ticket that day if they want to extend their stay for the hard ticket event that day.

you can buy the tickets in advance.

what i did before i bought the annual pass was call for ticket sales, give them the info of already purchasing a promo multi day pass and then i was able to buy the discounted add on ticket.

the Stay and Scream ticket is a discounted ticket that is ADDED ON to your day ticket.

AP holders do not get that discount.

you do not have to stay in the stay and scream area if you buy the ADD ON ticket for the hard ticket event.

you can leave the park and stand in the very long line waiting to get in to the park at 6:30.

or you can do the wise thing and stay in the park and wait in the designated areas for the event to begin. get a head start for the night before the crowds are let in.

there was a group from IOA that was allowed to go thru the metal detectors earlier than usual last year on the sunday before columbus day.

i think something was wrong with the signals the TMs were given and by chance that waiting group entered earlier than the group standing in line out by the entrance gate.

this was the only night that happened when i was there.
the people in the S & S area still got released before the IOA group came in.

they only sell a limited number of express passes in order to have crowd control.

the S & S tickets are the hard tickets for the event.
i am sure there is a maximum number of tickets sold for the nights.
due to fire codes, there would have to be a cap on the number of people in the park at the same time.

the closer to the date you want to go, could be an issue on buying tickets.
if you waited until the day before to attend hhn for a night at the end of the season, it might be touch and go on available tickets.

the beginning of the month has less crowds than the end of the month.
once hell week happens, the crowds grow bigger each night for hhn.

like metro said, i would not do hnn without the express pass.

ahhhhhhh so is S&S an add on to a normal park pass and you don't need a seperate HHN pass?

I might have just actually understood it now!! :rotfl2:

Exactly what I've done :)

So thanks again

yes.

if you call to buy your ticket in advance, tell the tm you want to buy the ADD ON ticket for HHN.

you have to tell them the date you want the ticket valid for

the ADD ON ticket is your ticket for HHN entrance.
anyone at the park the day of HHN, does not have to leave the park.
you can go to the Stay and Scream area and wait for the all clear signal to start the houses early.

S & S is what UO calls the holding area

doh! that's where I was getting confused, I thought you had to pay for S&S aaand HHN seperately.

So can you be in either park for S&S?

We'll have pre-bought tickets from the UK (most likely on a 7 days for the price of 2 offer or something like that) - are we still entitled to S&S? Does it basically work that as long as somehow you're already in the park, you just need to show your S&S pass for access to HHN?

I've just realised that if we were intending to go twice with the frequent fear pass at $69.99 like we did last time, it would actually be better value for us to get 2 days of S&S at $29.99 per day each wouldn't it? And we'd get in earlier.
So even if we didn't really use them as full park days, and just arrived at say 4.30pm, we could do this, right? (I find I appreciate HHN a lot more if I've had a leisurely day rather than a full park day)

The only thing we'd lose is the flexibility to decide which nights we go once we're on holiday (S&S would require us to pre-decide our nights) and we'd have to go within that 7 days that our park passes are valid.
