The Flat Adventures of Weird and Ninja

Today was the first day of the many adventures to come for HowWeird and RachelNinja! Since Weird finally got out working at his internship on Saturdays, and work is starting to wind down a bit for me because it's the end of the school year, we made plans to hang out.

After watching Prince Caspian ("You're a mouse," haha!), we made a stop at Home Depot. Why? For LGMH's, of course! We found the paint section, and it was right there by the help desk. We took a few and then we were done. Haha, we thought it would be a lot more adventurous than that with the searching and stuff. I guess the adventure was in my almost slipping right ouside because it was pouring at that point!

Then we stopped by Staples because we wanted to get our flats laminated. We went in to see what the self-lamination stuff was all about, but there didn't seem to be anything that would work or that was sturdy enough. We went to the desk and I asked about the pricing and since it would be a LOT cheaper to get it done professionally, we went ahead with that.

Of course, we weren't exactly done cutting all of our flats yet so we headed back to the car to continue cutting. I cut the remaining 5 of mine and then handed my scissors to Weird. Although Weird can do a ton of artistic things and knows a lot when it comes to architecture and designing and all that stuff, he had issues using scissors!

Once we were done, we headed back into Staples. The person behind the counter changed! Haha, I was a little nervous because ... what would the person think?!? I asked, "Can we get these laminated?" and he replied, "Sure." He didn't even pause to ask what they were. As he started working on my flats, Weird and I were talking about how he may have done someone's flats before ... or maybe he played VMK too! That would have been cool.

And then they were done! So excited! We spent a lot of time examining them in the car.

My receipt. The letter size was $1.99 and the ledger size was $2.99. We thought that was a really good deal.

After all that work, it was time for some flat fun! We were so excited that they could now go anywhere, and it would be okay! They wouldn't get wet or dirty or greasy or gross.

Ninja's first picture was with Weird's iPod. She was wondering why had Jonas Brothers on it, especially when it's the greatest group ever according to most junior high school girls.

Then Ninja was being her ninja-like self as she was peering down from the car's sunroof.

We were in that parking lot for a LONG time so we decided it was time to leave Staples and head somewhere else. Bye to Staples! Gotta love it now!

Weird and Ninja had to be buckled up first before we moved. Safety first, you know.

Our next stop was Dunkin Donuts for some iced coffee.

Weird was a little tired so he decided to take a quick nap ... with his eyes open ...

Weird and Ninja discussed the movie and shared their favorite parts.

This doesn't have to do with flats, but I just had to add this in ... Weird's such a great friend because he saved one of the lid popping things just for me! Haha, I had already popped all of my own.

I wanted this picture taken for AmberDaze! I know she doesn't like it when flats are on straws and paper clips and such ... but here are flats with the GOOD kind of straws!

Since I took Ninja to work with me for the past week and a half withOUT the lamination, she got a little dirty. The streak is condensation from a pot of mashed potatoes and the brown spot on her hand ... ummm ... I don't really know what that came from ... LOL.

Ready for a road trip to WDW!

Gotta check that rearview mirror first. Ninja's just checking out Weird~ hehe.

The day had to end, but Ninja wouldn't hear of it. She went back into hiding, and she's now at home with Weird!

Okie dokie, that was it for today! More adventures to come! Though Weird and Ninja may not be heading off to WDW anytime soon, they will be going to Six Flags next week so yay for more flats pictures!

Haha woot woot woot! I gotta say, if people were kinda iffy about printing out flats and whatnot, they should definitely go out and get it done! Simple screenshots that you might have taken, get them from friends, whatever you have to do! It really helps when people are missing VMK. In my opinion, it can be a lot of fun having our VMK characters out in the real world!

Ninja, if you don't mind, I'm going to answer this question. A little background story on Ninja and me, not too long, just a general thing. We started out as friends and then we realized we kinda liked each other. Haha, then it wasn't kinda because we dated for a while. We are no longer together but since we had the friendship foundation, we are best friends now. As Ninja said in another thread, we do love each other, though not romantically, and we care a great deal about each other. Hope that answers your question without being too wordy!

You guys made me want to go to Home Depot, so I went with my mom and brother. I made up some weird excuse to go over and look at the Disney paints, and I grabbed a three cheers for pooh and alien green

Haha, if I had the guts, I would have taken a picture of Weird and Ninja on the counter by the register because then the donuts could be in the background! But I don't know if I have the guts to do something like that yet!

And Weird already answered your question but yes, we dated for a while about 2 years ago. We were really close friends before we were together so it was only logical that we'd still be close friends after the fact.

The reason why we're really tight is because during my senior year of college, I got really sick and for a couple of years, I had a ton of medical tests, lots of medication, and two surgeries. It was a really trying time for me and there were many times that I was just so down on life. Weird was always there for me and very patient with me. When we dated, he was very understanding when I had to cancel plans last minute and he was okay with just staying at my house watching movies or playing Mario Party. I know for a fact that I would not have been able to make it through without him.

That's also why VMK was so important to us because it gave me a chance to get away from it. And it was great to have a real friend that I knew play the game as well. We bonded a LOT also because of the game (although we argued a lot over things like Haunted Mansion ... haha) so it's only appropriate that Weird and Ninja continue on with their adventures!

Now you can all say "Awwwww." Haha, but don't worry. Although there are times that we can still be "mushy" because we're so close, we also make fun of each other all the time. Okay okay okay ... I tease him more than he teases of me ...

Yep! Only 5 more days until Six Flags! We're going with a big church group and they're all rollercoaster riders and we're ... not so much. So it's going to be fun taking Weird and Ninja on the "easier" rides like the family coasters and the log flume!

The movie theater was across the street from Home Depot so it was the perfect opportunity. We probably aren't going to do anything with them for a while since we're not going to WDW anytime soon (hopefully next year we can go with friends). But it's so cool to have it! Haha, I don't know why, I just think it is. It's a way to signify that we're DISers ... haha, away from the computer monitor.

Haha, all day Weird and I were like ... "We'd be able to take this picture ... if we had Fun-tack!" He actually thought about constructing something so that they could stand up on a table or something, and I made sure that he knew that no straws or paper clips could be involved! Hehe.

Haha, we were a little ... cautious when it came to taking our pictures. We kind of looked to see who was around. The only picture that may have been caused a "Uhhh, what are you doing?" reaction might have been the straws one. The Dunkin Donuts employees might have thought we were weird, but I really wanted that picture since we were there!

After a while though, it got easier to take the pictures and we weren't so embarrassed to have them (there was a kid watching us when we were in DD). I think people look because they're wondering what they are. I think now a lot more people know about Flat Stanley too so it's probably not entirely weird.

HAHA, this is funny! I guess that's just the way family works! BTW, do you just carry the Fun-tack around with you all the time? Because I intend on having my flats with me always and I was wondering how to store the Fun-tack!

Haha, take a few when people aren't around just yet ... and then I'm sure you'll get more comfortable with them. The first few that I took that were posted on the "Home.less Flats" thread were taken in my classroom when no one else was around. Haha, I even closed my classroom door!

When we got home, I was saying that I should have taken other colors! It would be so nice to have a pink one or a purple one. Weird joked that we should take one of each (and I've read that some people have done that before!), but I think I was just so focused on the Alien Green. I guess that just means we're going to have to take another trip in the future!

Yeah! I was so happy with the price. I thought it would be better to get the self-lamination stuff, but it was cheaper the professional way. The only thing about that was that we felt weird bringing all those flats up to the counter! But the experience was a-okay. Then i was thinking, what's the "worst" that could happen? The person asks what they are? Or the person gives us a weird look? Haha, either way, they'd get done!

Weird used Photoshop to do his. I used Powerpoint. I just pasted the picture into a PPT document and stretched it there (mine are half the size of a portrait page). I don't have any skill when it comes to artsy things or computer things so I was so glad that PPT worked for me!

After Sunday service and Sunday School, Weird and I had to meet with a bunch of people to practice for an upcoming church retreat. Our worship team is responsible for leading the music for a few of the sessions (he's the "WT" leader and we're both singing and we also have an acoustic guitarist, a pianists, and a dummer). Little Weird and Ninja wanted to get some practice time too!

I didn't realize they were so blurry! Whoops! I didn't have the flash on and I didn't lean on anything for balance. But Weird and Ninja still had fun. They were chilling on our music stands while we were practicing.

The other members of our team picked them up and were wondering what they were, but they didn't even ask where they were from! Haha.

We actually wanted to get a lot of pictures today, but we ended up being really busy all day. Oh well, we've got the time!

My dearest friend was also a guy I dated for a few years... we just decided we were much better at being friends. He was my best friend for almost 25 years (Yes, I'm probably older than your moms ) and knew me and understood me better than anyone else.
