not sure if this has ever been posted here before, but I found a website for calculating how much gas will cost for a road trip.

http://www.fuelcostcalculator.com/TripGasprice.aspx

If it's correct, $312 roundtrip to drive to and from Boston (plus meals and overnight hotels each way) is much better than $1200 in airfare plus cost of a car rental.

we just used this site to calculate dh roadtrip and it was only off by a few dollars!

Thanks...this gives us an idea of how much we are going to need :faint: for our trip in September.

Thanks for the link, I've been worried about how much gas is going to cost us in Nov. It seems like it's going up 5 to 10 cents every other day here in the Eastern Panhandle of WV. It's hard to believe that we were paying $3.09 for gas a year ago.

Thanks for posting that, it actually shows cheaper then what i thought it would have been!!!

We leave Saturday and Ive been checking the price for the past month our price a month ago would have 201.00 round trip. Its up to 228.18 now.
I Hope the prices dont continue to climb that quick all summer.

That actually makes me feel a little better about our two upcoming road trips, thank you! Of course, there is no way to know how much gas will be in Aug. or by next March, but as it stands right now I not panicking as much as I was.....:goodvibes

Where are you from in the panhandle? I'm in Kearneysville and the Sheetz was $4.00 two days ago so it's prob. higher now!!! I can't believe when I go to my parents in NJ it's usually $.20 cheaper and they pump it for you!!!

Wow, what kind of car do you have. I can't believe it is cheaper from Boston than for us here in Pa. We have a Pathfinder and it said it would be 422.00 for us to drive to orlando. And that is right now, I am assuming I would hate to say it but when September comes around I am sure it would be more.
We actually decided to fly because it will be cheaper for the four of us than driving.

we are not going to disney, we're going from chicago to boston.

I just calculated our fuel usage and it was way off. It said the gas cost would be 361 and it really took around 500. We just got back a couple of weeks ago.

It took $500 from Virginia Beach to Orlando roundtrip? What kind of car do you drive?

Thanks for the links! It actually wasn't as bad as I was budgeting for...who knows how that will change in August though!

UGH - $569 Roundtrip from Texas..... we are driving a Suburban so it's to be expected, though...... and for 5 people for almost 2 weeks, that's not so terribly bad compared to flying and renting a vehicle.....

I just calculated using the other 2 sites posted and they were quite a bit cheaper (by over $100) than the original poster's site..... I'll just go w/ the high number so we won't be shocked at the end....
