Anyone have any luck with budget luggage? I need to get some for DD (13). I'm thinking that anything I buy her now, she'll be sick of in under 5 years :lmao: so I don't want to spend a ton. Buying cheap won't save me anything if the wheels fall off the first time she uses it.

I'm hoping to find 2 pieces for under $100.

Thanks!

I got a wonderful 5 piece set for about $60 at Kohls, they always have amazing deals on good quality luggage, not to mention they have wonderful colors (mines bright pink!) so your DD can pick what color she likes best!

You can also try Ebags dot com. They also have luggage they is quality and sometimes you can score a deal (mousesavers has a link if you click though the moussavers site you can save x%!)

Good luck!

I got a 5-piece set from Target for $69.99 a few days ago. It's their store brand but i have a set from a few years ago and it's still in good shape.

I got the rolling duffel from LL Bean I paid $89 for a large and it is highly rated for durability.

Check out your warehouse stores-my mom get a Samonsite 3 piece set for $129-it's the spinner kind, which she loves.

I just love the hot pink but worry about dirt showing up easy. IT is time for new luggage here also but I am looking for a tapestry pattern. Anyone seen this around?

Another vote for Kohl's. I bought a wheeled carry-on, Sonoma brand, for about $20 several years ago. It's still in great shape and gets used several times a year.

Check out TJ Maxx. I got my daughter a Jansport suticase last summer and it cute and very lightweight. I was very concerned about it being to heavy for her once it was packed.

Try overstock dot com. I just purchased a 4 piece set for $90 that had great ratings and listed as msrp over 400. Shipping was only $1, normally it is only $2.

Mervyn's periodically has luggage on sale. Ciao is a decent brand. Also check HSN and QVC. If your Marshall's carries luggage (some do, some don't), check there as well. I bought two Travel Pro pieces for under $30 including tax--a rolling laptop case plus another one that fits on top of it. Love it! :)

Be careful with tapestry luggage. Someone gave me some as a gift. It was gorgeous. But the raised tapestry part was snagged badly on its first airline outing. It might be okay if it's a very tight weave, but avoid it if not.

We have a Ciao duffle bag that has to be around 15 years old. It came with DH to our marriage. :)

I love rolling duffle bags. They tend to hold as much as a suitcase, but weigh a lot less. They also take up less room than a suitcase.

I got the exact same pink one at Kohl's. I got the 27 inch big one and just packed it with everything for our cruise. That thing really has a LOT of clothes in it and it still only weighs 48 lbs!

Thanks for the Scotchgard idea.
