Cheapest place to get moving supplies??

DH and I are moving in about a month. We can't do the boxes from grocery stores this time (would void our movers insurance). Anyhow, where can I get the cheapest boxes/supplies??

I was thinking of getting these boxes:

I don't know anything about mover's insurance, but if there are no requirements on where to get the paper, I find that the best thing to use is blank newsprint. Most newspapers sell the "end rolls" for a very reasonable price. (I paid $.50 each about two months ago.)

I have found a lot of moving boxes around here from the Craigslist free section. They have all been actual moving boxes, not grocery store. But you could email the person first to be sure.

I googled "newspaper" and the big towns nearby, and then I called their main number, or customer-service number, and just asked "Do you sell your end rolls of newsprint? How much, where do I go to pick them up, and what's the best time to come get them?" They've all been very happy to get rid of them.

I should also add that they do still have a cardboard tube in the middle which makes them sort of heavy, and the ends can be a little bit greasy, so you might want to put them in your trunk, or put a sheet on the seat of the car.

I would look at www.uline.com which sells all sorts of packing materials. There prices are very reasonable, and they have several warhouses around the country for fast shipping.

And they are much more of a wholesaler than retailer.

I did, but sadly their shipping costs are HIGH! If I could get free or at least cheap shipping from them, I would, but for what I wanted shipping would be almost $70!!

I worked for the Moving Business for many years. Ask the moving company for "free" used, and or discounted used boxes. We gave them away all the time...

I've moved in my life about 20 times and have NEVER paid for a box.

You can check with Publix or any grocery store and ask their policy. Fruit boxes are great because they have removable tops. I call my local Publix and they tell me what date they're available and they have them broken down and waiting for me. THEN I give them away on Freecycle!

Any good packing tape will work. Newspaper is the best free filler of all. Get the Sunday paper and have others donate theirs to you.

I use uline for eBay. They are awesome. I live very near a warehouse so I don't have to pay for shipping.

I would also check with a few local apartment complex's (big upscale ones are best) as people fill up dumpsters with their boxes all the time.

I bought mine off uline and sold them on craigslist....it was good for all around!

I think at one time that Home Depot sold moving boxes. Not sure if they still do--I haven't been in none for a couple of years.

Freecycle or Craiglist free section..... I always post ours there when we're done w/ them. You can also post on Freecycle asking for them and I'm sure you'd find someone happy for you to come pick up theirs!
