Offsite at Night

I'm thinking about staying at HoJo's for my next trip. I'm fine with walking over to Disneyland in the morning, but I'm a little concerned about walking back at night (around ten o'clock). For those of you that have done this, would you consider it safe for two females to be walking back at this time? Thanks. :)

The answer to your question is always overwhelmingly YES people feel comfy. I haven't done that walk back alone (I *have* walked back to Anabella alone, though), but I know how people answer! :)

Remember, you'll be surrounded by fellow tourists. I never see sneaky-looking (or acting) people around there. Beyond tourists, I've seen residents going to and from work on the bus, and I've seen two homeless people sleeping on the benches at the bus stops, one on Harbor and another on Katella.

I've done this walk by myself, at night, and have had no problems. There are many other DLR guests doing the same thing, so you won't be alone.

As DangerMouse said..you won't be alone. DD21 and I felt safe walking back to the Fairfield Inn after a late night in DTD. There were many people moving about so it does not feel isolated.

Personally as a woman I wouldn't feel good about walking ANYWHERE alone at night, and that includes Harbor Blvd. But I feel perfectly fine there as long as I'm walking with someone else. As others said, there are usually tourists walking around everywhere so I would consider it safer than most other places. You'll be fine. :thumbsup2

I walked it myself back in October at night going back to the Castle Inn. Everyone us right there are families and other tourist around.

Thanks so much everyone! It makes me feel much better to know that other tourists and families will be around.

When I was in college a roommate and I went and stayed off site. It was about the same distance as Hojo's, but on the other end of Harbor. We always tried to find a family to stay close to when walking. We probably freaked those families out, but we felt safer... :)

I've never felt afraid doing that walk at night. It's well lit, lots of traffic and other people walking. Not like the herd (LOL) that walks on the Harbor side but still plenty of people. I would even do that walk with my 2 kids, just the 3 of us. :)

I forgot, it takes us a little longer after a long day, but usually no more than 10 minutes and that's waiting for the lights. :)

You should be fine. But remember you are in public, so like anywhere it's best to keep an eye on your surroundings. I have seen some strange characters on Harbor a few times, so they are out there (like anywhere).

Last year I was walking to DL by myself (meeting DH and DS who were already there) from the Tropicana. There was some woman doing something I guess she wasn't supposed to be. Because suddenly the workers at the Tropicana came out in a golf cart and chased her down the street! It was all very odd. LOL I didn't feel unsafe, but it did make me feel awkward about the whole thing! I've also seen some interesting characters standing around the crosswalk, trying to sell stuff ect...

But I always just make sure I'm aware of what's going on around me.

Would you suggest walking on the hotel side of Harbor or the DL side at night to Hojos?

I will *gulp* have to do this walk by myself near closing due to an agreement with DH that will let me, the only thrillseeker in the family, stay behind after the fireworks to knock off some rides while he gets the boys to bed.

So ... if you see a lady walking close to your group late on June 1, it's probably me trying not to look solo!

Or, should I take a taxi?

I've felt safe walking beck to the HoJo, but if you feel very uncomfortable doing it, you can always use ART (which is much cheaper than a taxi) to get back.

HTH
Have a Great Trip! :cool1:

You know, if you feel funny either take a taxi, ART or just walk down the opposite side of the street. do whatever makes YOU feel good. Honestly though, I don't think I would worry at all, I'd just walk it and be happy. :)

I have walked back after midnight with another woman and wasn't nervous, but if you ever feel uneasy you can always ask someone going your way if you can join them for the walk. I have done that other locations, and no one has eve seemed to find my request strange!

That's an excellent idea. I think I'll do that.
