My family and I will be staying at POR for 8days/9 nights in November...one day being Thanksgiving. I know we must make reservations pronto but with the hours not being posted, I've hesitated doing the 180+10. Also, we are not on the DDP. We plan to eat TS 4-5 times otherwise GG, CS and snacks.
Anyway, what are your dining "must do" for 11yo boys? They're past the character thrill but love tasty cuisine. I'd love restaurant suggestions any resort and/or all parks.
:worship: Thank you, DISers! This forum has educated me immensely!!!!:worship:

My sons are basic food type guys and they love Trails End at Fort Wilderness

I would say the Whispering Canyon Cafe...they do things like hobby horse races, if you ask for ketchup they bring you every bottle in the place and if you keep drinking too much soda, they bring you a large pitcher to drink and so forth....

What characters are your sons' favorites?

At $38 a night for everyone I can see why you won't want to do the DP. However, just be sure to do the math to be sure it isn't a good deal anyway. Many of the TS meals will have holiday pricing ($30.99 for dinner at Chef Mickey's plus tax if you're not on the DP) so at 5 TS meals and those CS meals you may be close to the DP cost anyway with 4-5 TS meals, CS meals and your GG bill.

By the way do you mean 8 nights and 9 days?

I'd still do a character meal or two and definitely w/DS20 in the group buffets make sense

Boma at the AK Lodge
Coral Reef in Epcot
Chef Mickey's is still so much fun and a good spread
Cape May at the Beach Club has the character bfast or the "clam bake" dinner buffet
Crystal Palace has a really good menu and even a great location even though it's a character meal

Holiday pricing :(  We went last year just before Christmas, arriving the day the increase started. I was never so happy to be on the dining plan as when I found out that!

My kids like Boma. They're younger than your boys, but like to try different foods and a visit to the AKL is always fun.
