The Great Make Up Trip Of 2008~7/22- SEE YOU REAL SOON! (pg. 86) ~COMPLETED~

fantastic pics. they r gorgeous.

great update.

sorry he got scared.

I'll be ready for it!! If you stretch it out long enough it will last me until my trip!!
:rotfl2: I doubt I can stretch it until September!

We have never walked Discovery Island. Will have to check it out. DH and I were debating back and forth about taking DS into see ITTBAB, but I think your story convinced me to wait.

We actually still did not walk all of it. We mostly just did the back side of it.
That one scene in ITTBAB was pretty intense. Had I known about that part, I wouldn't have brought him in there.

Your pictures really are so nice! I love the one of the water and all the trees right before the lizard.

:rotfl2: I think I did the same thing in my last TR!! I will go change it now. Poor DH.:rotfl2:

Thanks about the pics:)
Yak & Yeti report coming up soon!!;)

I remember that same typo on your last report :rotfl2:

Great Update:thumbsup2

You have helped me decide on ITTBAB with my DS. That will be a definite NO for us:scared1:

You got a lot of great pics:goodvibes

Great Update Blue! Love the pix DGD came over to check out the tree and said she didn't see all those animals and neither did I!! Note to self "Check out Tree!!

Blue.. you take AMAZING pictures. Do you ever visit the PICTURE OF THE DAYthread? I put a link here for you. The photographers over there would LOVE your stuff. Post something!! I do, and my pictures aren't half as beautiful and clear as yours!

So sorry you brought DS into ITTBAB!! Sounded like he was as prepared as could be.. he'll get over it!:rolleyes1

You are doing great (again...) with staying on top of your TR. Thanks!:cool1:

Thank you:)
That one was taken right behind the tree but turned the other direction. Really pretty area.

:rotfl2: I can't believe I did it again. Probably won't be the last time either.
Thanks!
Yeah, I'd wait on the ITTBAB. I guess I got over confident on DS's bravery.....it really was scary!

Yes, definitely take time out to walk around the tree. It's really neat! The detail is amazing.

I think I visited that thread a long time ago. I need to check it out again....especially now since I have no immediate future trip to plan for.:sad2:
It'll be a while till DS will want to try that show out again. :lmao: Oh well, mark it off the list. I was AMAZED later on in the trip at what he DID do and LOVED!! But you'll have to wait for those details....:rotfl2:

I've been reading your thread all along but don't post much. I'm loving your TR! The pics of the tree are amazing! We did It's Tough to be a Bug on our first trip to Disney back in 2002 and it gave me the creepy crawlies  I do believe that will be my first and last

We always breeze through AK and do not spend nearly enough time. I didn't even realize there were hippo's other than on the safari :confused3 I've learned something new! Thanks :goodvibes

Glad you decided to post!:) Thanks about the pics.
I'd say about 1/4 of the way down the Africa trail is where the hippo's are. I forgot to ask how long it will be closed.

Sorry to hear about DS on Tough to be a Bug -- we are planning on trying it for the first time in June -- I THINK my kids will be okay, but we are all such bug woozes at our house, we may all be laying on the bench curled into the fetal position by the end.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful pictures of the Tree of Life!

Your DS is such a cutie pie!

FJ and his Peep -- :rotfl2:

I really enjoyed your pictures. They are so beautiful. I am wondering how Grace will react to Disney World when she is a little older. She didn't understand what was going on on our last trip. She might freak out on ITTBAB also. Brennan was eight the first time we went and he liked ITTBAB but one of his friends who is the same age went close to the time we went and he was scared of ITTBAB. I guess it depends on the child.

Great pix. I haven't been down those trails around the Tree of Life since 2005 or maybe even longer......makes me want to go back right now...

FJ was happy to see his peeps.....:thumbsup2 Not so happy to be close to the bear's butt....;)

I chase lizards too....:rolleyes1 My maturity level=age 5.

YAY, 3 installments in 1 check! Great start, ds is is ADORABLE! I have to agree that your pics are amazing! :thumbsup2 Keep it coming....

:

As you come into the theater avoid the front right section of seats....that's where the big mean bug (I forgot his name) jumps up from.

DS did fine on all the other parts of the show. It really was a cute show and he wasn't even scared of the big grasshopper. But that fumigation part is where he lost it. Guess it depends on the child.
Thank you about the pics and about DS:hug:
We had a lot of fun with FJ. ;)

I think it really does depend on the child. I tried to prepare him for it but I didn't really know about the fumigation part and that's what got him. Other than that I really think he would have been fine.

We really only stayed behind the tree so technically we still didn't see all of it.
FJ was really happy to see his peeps! :thumbsup2
Too funny about the butt!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hadn't even thought of that.
Lizards are fun to chase!!

Aww, thanks about DS  and the pictures.

I agree! We got seats in the middle of the row so we were good as far as that goes. But we were on the 2nd row which I think may have been a bit too close to the screen.

Great start Blue! I am so excited to be in from the beginning on this one!:thumbsup2 Poor DS on ITTBAB! Good for him though for being brave enough to even be willing to see other shows!:thumbsup2 LOVE your pictures of all the detail! I am always so commando through the park, I miss so many details!:rotfl2:

We were still early for our ADR at Yak & Yeti but we tried to slowly make our way there anyway. We were hoping that by the time we got there it would be close to 12:30 and we could check in. When we got there it was 11:45am! There was not enough time to do anything else before our ADR but it still was not actually time. I decided to just pop in and ask if we could check in early. The worst they can say is "no", right??? The nice CM that I spoke to looked around on her chart and found us a table right then!! We did not have to wait at all. Our ADR MOJO was definitely in tact and I started to wonder if it was because of Flat Jordan. I'm thinking that maybe Jordan sent some of his MOJO along when he sent us FJ. :woohoo:

We were seated upstairs which was quite a climb but they do have an elevator for those who can not make it up the 2 flights of stairs. I love the themeing in this restaurant and wish I would have taken more pictures of it. Here is a pic of the menu's.....

DH and I both got cokes and DS got milk. It was our first day and we were hot and hungry and hadn't really found our "groove" in the parks yet so dh and I skipped the alcohol menu for now.

As we waited for our waitress to come back to take our orders, dh took a pic of ds and I. Then, FJ decided to jump out and have some fun at the table too!

***I must say that when I set up the FJ picture, the couple at the table next to us stared at me in horror. You really would have thought I commited a murder or something. :confused3 Our waitress came by before I had a chance to put FJ back in the bag so I had to explain myself. When I told her it was our friend Jordan in California and he couldn't come with us, she made such a fuss about how sweet we were and the other couple FINALLY turned around and minded their own business. DH and I had a good chuckle after this. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: I didn't take FJ out for anymore pic's in this restaurant because of that couple. However, I quickly learned throughout the trip how to handle people like this. From then on I ignore them until after I get my picture taken, then with FJ still in hand I turn to them and look them directly in the eye and smile really big like I'm about to go talk to them......they seem to scatter at this time. :lmao: "OH NO, THE CRAZY LADY WITH THE GUY ON A STICK IS GOING TO TALK TO US...EVERYBODY RUN!!!!" :confused3 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ok, back to lunch... I can't remember what ds got but I think it was either chicken strips or mac & cheese. He also had the carrot strips and apple sauce for dessert. It was around this time that DS started showing his grumpy side!! He was not in a good mood anymore and had been up since 4:30am without a nap. He was not a happy camper, and all I could think was to hurry up and eat and get the heck out of there!!

DH had the steak & shrimp which he said was "ok" but you have to remember that DH is a picky eater. DH can also grill a killer steak so it's sort of hard to get him out of his comfort zone with steaks. I tried it and realized what his problem was. It was marinated in wine or a wine sauce. I thought it was great!! So, you can judge by which ever one of us you may be the most similar with as far as food attitudes go. :lmao: I had the shrimp lo-mein and it was WONDERFUL!!! Very tasty and as usual with WDW the portion size was LARGE so I couldn't eat it all but I sure tried really hard. I wish I would have remembered to take pictures but unfortunately I didn't remember until the dessert came and we were already half way through. :rotfl: So, sorry about the half eaten pictures but here was our dessert. We weren't even going to get desert since we were so stuffed but our waitress talked us into it by reminding us that it is included on the dining plan. DH got the chocolate brownie sundae which I cracked up laughing at when she set it on the table because it is HUGE!!! DH just looked at her like "what am I supposed to do with this??" :lmao: Seriously we could have all 3 shared it and still had some left over. Here it is.....
2490435002_09fe08006b.jpg

I ordered the sorbet which came with 3 different flavors...mango, lemon, & raspberry. Let me tell you....IT WAS SO GOOD!!! I wish I hadn't been so full or I would have eaten the entire thing. Here is what half of it looks like :rotfl2: .......

CONTINUED.....

When we left Yak & Yeti it was within our window to get another fast pass so we booked it over to the safari ride to get them, then headed back toward Expedition Everest to use our Fast passes and hopefully meet Winkers and family. We got there at 2:00 pm and it was H-O-T!!! Man, I don't know what it is about that side of the park but it is always BLAZING HOT!! We grabbed a bench and I took these pics of FJ while we waited and looked for Winkers' clan.

DS started whining again and then crying. He was sooo grumpy and it was so HOT, so at 2:15 I sent DH to go take his ride on EE and I would stay there and spend the next few minutes while he was gone, looking out for Winkers. DS and I walked closer to the big drop in EE and took this picture of DH coming down. He's in the last seat on the left.
2489680085_70c10e619e_b.jpg

When DH came out it was almost 2:30. So, I decided to take my ride so we could move to a different location that wasn't so hot. When I took my bag off and handed it to DH so I could ride, I forgot to take FJ with me!! :scared1: BAD DISer!!!:sad2: I'm still bummed out about that one. So, I'm sorry but I have no FJ pictures on EE. I took my ride and sat next to a teenage girl who's parents sat behind us. I immediately warned her that I might scream. Honestly, I scream whether I'm scared or not....It's just more fun that way!!:yay: She laughed and said she probably would too. We had a good fun ride. I like trying to make friends with the stranger you're sitting next to. Sometimes it works and sometimes they look at you like you are crazy for talking to them. :confused3 But, it's still fun to try.

Anyhoo, when I came down from the ride after getting swiped at by the Yeti.... :woohoo: YES, it was working this time!!! My first actual view of the Yeti...that thing is HUGE!!! DH said he saw no one that fit the description of Winkers and family. Oh well, guess they got tied up. On to COOLER places!! (I did get a PM from Winkers here on the DIS that said her little one wasn't feeling well so they went back to the hotel:sick: Hope he got to feeling better real soon! :flower3: ) We headed out and bought DS this fan/water squirter thing that he had been begging for. It was so hot we figured this was a good purchase and IT WAS!! They keep those things iced down before you buy them so they are nice and cool when you spray it on yourself. HEAVEN!!

Next up....MORE heat and a possible 2 week Safari
