our non-rushing (sorta) disney anniversary w/ PICS & VIDEO! new TR link - p. 136

moths don't bother me. neither do bats, although i've never been really close to a bat. it's the beaks and claws that bother me with birds. i was attacked by a blue jay when i was 9 years old and that's what tainted me for life! i have to have an extra chair if i eat anywhere at disney that has a duck/bird problem so i can put my feet up in the chair. and i pretty much have to close my eyes when walking through frontierland in the late afternoon - it seems like that area is ALWAYS full of those big, scary white birds during that time of day. they're planning an invasion, i tell you!!!

see above. :scared1:

Okay, now I was attacked by a blue jay in 96. I had pulled up at work and parked my car at the back door by my office. As I got out, the darn thing flew right at my head and kept trying to peck my eyes out, I just knew it!!! I was running and screaming trying to get the key to my office door! Heavenly days...I thought I was gonna die!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

 um......slightly awkward, i would say.

Yeah. What was really awkward is I go to church with the "bathroom" couple. After my friend told me about this, it's the first thing I think of whenever I see them!:rotfl2:

picking up where i left off, we were on our way from enjoying "it's tough to be a bug" to use our fastpasses for the safari. we entered the fastpass line and were happily winding our way past all those sad-looking standby line patrons when, all of the sudden, the fastpass line stopped. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING??? we weren't even close enough to see the loading area yet. so we waited. and waited. and waited. about 20 minutes later a CM came over the speakers and said that they were having technical difficulties and would temporarily have to close the queue. :headache: oh, well! at least we had fastpasses so we could try again later. so we, along with all the other standby line people AND the fastpass people, about-faced and marched slowly back to the line entrance. on the bright side, we struck up a conversation with another vacationing couple in front of us that were really nice!

after we finally got out of the line, it was almost 11:00. since we had had breakfast so early that day, we decided to beat the lunch crowd and head towards pizzafari.

it was on the way to lunch that we noticed the crowds getting thicker.....something we really didn't experience at all last year. but it was a sunday and i'm sure there were some locals around, especially since the week before was AK's 10-year anniversary.

we split a pizza, breadsticks and a water. it was pretty good. :thumbsup2 it's my first food porn pic!!!

i love the decor in pizzafari. it's so bright and cute! and the place was a nice break from the park. it was quiet and cool there that day.

after lunch we decided it was time to conquer everest.

on the way over the crowds were getting worse. it was NOT looking good. when we got there, to our dismay, there was a 90-minute wait for EE! :scared1: i've never seen a wait like that anywhere at disney personally. so we grabbed fastpasses because we weren't about to wait in that line. at this point it was about 11:30 and our fastpasses weren't until 3:35. way longer than we wanted to wait, but what can you do? :confused3
goodbye everest......we'll see you this afternoon!

DSC03714.jpg

after that we headed into dinoland. i was itching to RIDE something. the only thing we'd done so far was a show, a trail and wait in line for the safari! so we hopped on primeval whirl which was a 15-minute wait.

DSC03717.jpg

i love spinning......and giggling.....and spinning......and giggling.....:upsidedow

DSC03719.jpg

now it was time to go back into time to catch a dinosaur! look who we saw on the way over......some old dear friends!

DSC03721.jpg

see ya later this week, guys!

i think the wait for dinosaur was like 20 minutes, so we hopped in line.

DSC03722.jpg

i love this ride. that silly dinosaur ALWAYS scares me even though i know he's gonna be there!!! :rotfl2:

DSC03724.jpg

well, that's all i have time for right now. not a long update, i know, but i wanted to give you guys a little something!

up next......the flat people come out of hiding and WHAT IS SHE WEARING???

Thanks for the pics Dawn. I've never gone on that trail to see the animals. That is really neat! Guess now I need to go back. :rolleyes1

Sorry it took so long to get there though. :scared:

That pizza looks good. That is what DD and I did in Jan. We split many a pizza during that trip.

That little girl in front of you is cracking me up. :rotfl: It's like she is totally unaware that there was a big scary dinosaur anywhere around. :confused3

Winkers - YIKES! :scared1:

thanks for the update dawn.:goodvibes ..i feel the same way about dinosaur..i freak out every time regardless how many times the thing has jumped out at me in the past ;)

blue jays are MEAN! the one that attacked me had a nest in the bush near my grandma's mailbox. i was getting the mail and it attacked me, scratching my head, chasing me all the way down my grandmother's LONG driveway and into the house. VERY SCARY!!!!!! my cousin was making fun of me and then he went out there and it chased him around the block! my poor grandmother had to wear a baseball hat and carry a broom to swing at the thing every time she got the mail until my grandfather eventually cut down the bush!

:rotfl: i have several friends like that who have done embarassing things that i'm not sure they know that i know about and i have to keep from snickering when i see them. namely having an "accident" on my bathroom rug. VERY STRANGE. after a friend of mine left one day i couldn't find my guest bathroom rug. later that day i found it in the washer, then after investigating further i found "evidence" of what had happened. i won't go into details - they're pretty gross! :scared: now when i see her i feel bad that i know about it.

awesome - i gave you an excuse to go back! :rotfl2:

Wow! Sounds like a very crowded day! A 90 minute wait sounds crazy.

Your pizza and breadsticks look delicious.

Great pic on Primeval Whirl!

Hi Dawn,

Just started reading your TR. I couldn't believe what I was reading --you're a court reporter! Me too! I don't usually meet other reporters outside of a professional setting so I was quite surprised. Good report so far. :thumbsup2

Great update Dawn!! I love to hear about AK since we have never been there. We can't wait till October to be able to finally go to that park!

Okay, homegirl, you are teasing me!!!!! You look very cute in your pics...remember our saying, "Big butt and a smile"! BBD.

With your aversion to birds, I bet it's hard to find a cs restraunt in AK where you aren't swarmed by them!:rotfl:

The pizza does look good, even though it is not quite 3 a.m. as I write. I love the Pizzafari decor, also. So bright and unique. Lots of things to take pictures of.

I noticed the little girl in the front of Dinosaur, too. She's refusing to look at the Dinosaur.

I enjoy this ride, but in March, we got stuck on it at a part where the car was just shaking up and down. We were stuck for about ten minutes, and it never did stop jostling. It stopped on the track, but then continued to shake us up and down and 'round and 'round. It was fun for the first minute, but it got to be not so fun after a while. There was no escape, because we were belted in. We heard that someone's backpack flew out and it stopped the ride. Later on, coincidentally, we were on the bus with the guy who lost the backpack.

Your pictures are good. Keep 'em coming!

Maybe they found this guy in the stand-by line for EE :rotfl2:

Thanks for the update - :surfweb:

Mmm...those breadsticks look tasty....I, too, have some pix from Pizzafari coming up much later in my TR.....

It seems that AK was busy.......

Technical difficulties on KS? Hmmm....maybe those animals aren't real after all......

I love Primeval Hurl....I love the "action" picture from that ride...:thumbsup2

I went to AK 3x my last trip and didn't hit It's Tough to Be a Bug OR Dinosaur......:scared1:

Can't wait to hear more......

The safari was down? Never heard of such a thing!

I love your fake scream in the Dinosaur picture. You MUST fake scream on Dinosaur...especially for the picture! What does Donny Osmond think he's doing in the front row there SMILING at the carnotar? :sad2:

And if you love spinning....I hear the new Toy Story ride spins. Which is a bummer....for me. Because spinning makes me sick at my stomach.

RE: Sunday crowds.....we had this problem last September! Unbelievable. I will not likely do AK on a Sunday again.

Loving all the pictures! Thank you!
