Resort Searaycer (mouseboats lol) question

Okay I have been able to determine that if we rent these boats at any resort other than the Magic Kingdom resorts all six of us can ride.....without having drivers licenses. (although 3 of us do)

My question is....which resort marina would be the very BEST waterway to rent from.....example...can you ride your Searaycer all the way to DTD from POR? etc...

We rented 2 on our trip last week. The GF seems to be one of the best marinas to rent one from, you can ride out into the lagoon in front of MK, ride on past CR, and go out to see the old River Country Water Park and Wilderness Lodge Resort. A good hour trip.

IMO, the best place for sea raycers is the Seven Seas Lagoon. For all the reasons it's the best are probably the same reasons that you have to be a licensed driver. There's so much more room to ride & explore and the wakes from the "big" boats for wake jumping

From what I've seen, there's not much to do at Crescent Lake (Epcot/DHS) most is a no wake zone and no where to go off & explore. More to see from DTD to POR (I've seen "road signs" on the waterway) but I think most of it is again a no wake zone.

DH swears the only place to rent a sea raycer is at the MK resorts.

The searaycers at Crescent (BC/YC/BW) are set to only go half as fast as the ones at Seven Seas lagoon. The YC Marina Captain told me this last week. Crescent is so much smaller it is essentially all 'no wake' zone. On Seven Seas and Bay Lake you have so much more to explore as others have pointed out. Very easy choice in my mind. The again, I do have my drivers license.

Thats why I was asking which resort other than the Magic Kingdom resorts.....

Can anyone give me input? Or do you think it just wont even be worth it to rent one from somewhere else?

But I CANT rent from there because 3 of my kids wont be able to drive and if we double up the boats will weigh so much they probably wont even move lol....

Caribbean Beach has a 45 acre lake huh.....this is the type of info I am looking for.

Does anyone know if you can drive your boat ALL the way to DTD if you rent from POR? and how big is THAT lake?

Yes you can it will take about an hour round trip.

We rented from POR and went to DTD (you can't leave the boat, however), then went to the waterway to the left (see map). They have road signs up too so you won't get lost. It was fun! You can get some nice pictures from the water as well.

Rent from any of the marinas on the "Seven Seas Lagoon!"

They're much faster...even with two on board...my DW & DD
rode together and had NO problem racing around.

Just a tip...rent for a full hour...you'll have enough time
to visit the 4 resorts residing on said lagoon. Oh, yeah...
watch out for those crests caused by the passing
boats to and from the MK...or, ride right through them.

Sounds like you have a bit of a problem if you can't share a boat with your kids due to weight. There has to be a licenced driver in each boat, anywhere you rent.

We have decided that we can't rent again until our kids are drivers. Last year, DS14 and DH got a boat and it barely moved with their wieght in it. They said they had no fun, and when he switched so DD12 could ride, it wasn't much better.

Actually, that's not true anymore. You must have a licensed driver for the MK resorts area sea raycers but not at the the other resorts/marinas.

From the WDW site:

Guests must be at least 12 years old and at least 5 feet tall to drive a Sea Raycer. At Magic Kingdom® area resorts, at least one person in the boat must have a valid driver's license. There is a maximum combined weight of 320 lbs permitted for a Sea Raycer, or 2 passengers. All drivers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian sign a release.

I still think the MK (Seven Seas Lagoon) would be the most exciting/thrilling, but it could be fun (just not as fast) exploring DTD-POR

Last year we rented a Boston Whaler at POR. We couldn't take that to DTD only down and around OKW. I'm not sure if it's the same for the Mouseboats.

The Boston Whaler boats hired from POR/OKW have to stay within that area of the Sassagoula River, similarly the ones rented at DTD have to stay at their end of the river too. Not sure why.

Sea Raycers are different, you can indeed take those all the way from POR to DTD and along to OKW if you want, which would make a nice one-hour hire. And as the OP commented, the piloting restrictions are just 12+ for Sea Raycers on the Sassagoula River, no need for an adult to be on board (although a responsible adult must sign a rental waiver form). Although I would love to rent on the Seven Seas, like I said, two of us in one boat just wont do it....they are all teens and there would be no way my husband or I with one of the kids would be under 250 pounds.

Thanks for the link to the map of the POR waterway.....I have two rooms rented with a package and I think we get a coupon that allows us to rent for 1 hours but get 90 minutes.....plenty of time to get to DTD and back!!

Curious, why is the 250 lbs figure an issue? Is there some rule I've never heard? My fiance and I rent them together all the time, and combined we are over 250 for sure. Granted, they dont go as fast as when we are solo, but its not like they are putzing and its still a great time!

Somewhere (and if I can find it I will post it) says that there is a 250 lb limit on the mouseboats......

Okay I was wrong its 320 lbs......the 250 lbs was for riding a horse...SORRY lol. But my kids will STILL want to drive their own boat and I cant blame them..

Thanks for the information on the Sea racers. My DH and I will be doing them in August and I was wondering if there was a weight limit.
