Polynesian Longhouse Question

I have booked a garden view in July. Do any of the longhouses offer a view of the water or castle from their garden views?

There are a couple of rooms that have a castle view if you lean out (I forget which longhouse). Samoa (volcano pool side) has a great lagoon view with the Grand Floridian in the background. You can also see part of the Electrical Light Parade. Fiji (marina side) has a great water view with the CR as a background. The other side of Fiji has a Luau Cove view.

Are you saying that those longhouses/views you mentioned are actually from garden view rooms? I've heard others posts about a few longhouse locations where you can see the lagoon, but you seem to have posted quite a few. If they have a lagoon view, wouldn't they make you pay for it?

I never stayed in any building other than Hawaii, Tokelau and ?? - circa 1978 - who knows what building!

Of course, I have a Unofficial Guide here but that would mean going all the way upstairs to get it and look it up! :)

vicki_c,

Google "Tikiman" and "Polynesian". His site has views, pros, and cons of every longhouse and room at the Poly.

Mary Joe is right about Fiji and Samoa although only some rooms in Samoa offer a view of the lagoon and GF. I think every room in Fiji probably views either the marina or the little cove looking toward the Luau.

Tokelau is the building that has some rooms with a side view of the castle.

Yes, I'm familiar with Tikiman's site - I get his newsletter - his site won't be up again until tomorrow or Monday. I don't have any Poly plans in my near future, I was just trying to clarify your earlier post for my own Poly education! (It's my favorite resort, but I'm a DVC owner, so I probably won't be seeing the Poly again too soon!). :sad1:

Thanks Vicki!. I just booked a 3 night stay before we move on to SSR. I tried to log on to tikiman's website and was so disappointed to see it was closed. I'm so excited that he's reopening the site!!!!

Another glad to hear Tikiman's site will be back up!!

We stayed in Tokelau on the side opposite the quiet pool, if that makes sense, in a first floor room. Technically, looking straight out onto the patio, you saw grass, a few trees, a walkway and the end of another longhouse. However, stepping out onto the patio and looking left- there was the lagoon. Could also see Space Mountain. I believe we actually had to step out onto the grass area to see the castle, having a hard time remembering, but still no biggie. DH and I pulled our chairs onto the grass each afternoon as the kids napped to get some sun, read our books and look out over the beautiful scenery!!

We like Tokelau so much we'll be requesting it again for 2009.

you do see a little of the garden, not complaining at all

Our garden view room in Tokelau faced the same way as sandym. We were on the 3rd floor. We faced the TTC and Contemporary. We could lean out on the balcony to see Space Mountain. You could see the castle from the hallway door at the end of the longhouse, and we would go out onto the platform in our jammies to watch fireworks.

Request what you want, but the best advice is to be polite! We were able to switch rooms into Tokelau, but we were VERY nice about it!

Cheers!
