Contemporary parking ?

does anyone know if you can park at the Contemporary and then use the walking path to the magic kingdom.. or do you need a dinner reservation at the hotel in order to park there...??

No, you can't park at the Contemporary and then go to the Magic Kingdom, unless you are a guest at the Contemporary. They are very strict with parking there, as it is so close to MK, and many people would do what you are thinking about if it were allowed. Then there would be no place for the people who are staying at the Contemprary to park. And that wouldn't be fair to them.

If you want to have dinner at the Contemporary they will give you a 3 hour parking pass. So if you want to eat and then pop over for a little while, that will work. But if you stay past your 3 hour parking pass time limit, your car may be towed.

I had asked this a few days ago. The UG actually suggests it, to avoid the mass exodus at closing time.

We always get stopped when going to the Contemporary. In our experience, they are very strict in keeping only people staying at or eating at the Contemproary from going to the parking lot. We have also seen people turned away at the security gate.

i do remember going to animal kindgom for dinner and getting a 3 hour parking pass... we were going to eat at chef mickey then walk over to save time.... looks like we will have to go back to the transportation area..

I believe that security at the Contemporary will only get more strict with the construction going on as well.

THere is usually signage at the resorts, as you enter, that state they are not able to provide parking for park access. This is generally only an issue at the Epcot resorts and the monorail resorts...for obvious reasons.
If you are eating at CR and want to head to MK after eating, I would suggest one of two things...
1. park at the TTC and take the monorail to the CR for breakfast and then walk back to MK
2. take the resort bus to MK and then walk to CR for breakfast, and back to MK after your meal.

If you want to pay the price for valet parking,you can stay as long as you want.(Free if you are a DVC owner,have a handicapped parking pass,or a DDE card.)

Not quite free for DVC members. Only at resorts with DVC resorts attached. That would be BC, BW, AK, WL.

Unless you are staying at the CR, parking at the resort is limited to dining or shopping times at the resort. Parking is so limited there with all the construction that it is very hard for the guests who have cars to find a parking place at their own resort. With a handicapped tag, you would be able to park in the handicapped parking at the TTC and take the monorail to the MK. And who doesn't like riding in the monorail?

Hotel parking is for hotel Guests.
Theme park parking is for theme park Guests.
If you are not availing yourself of some feature offered by the hotel, you are not a hotel Guest.

You will get valet parking for free,plus a tip. When you valet park,you have no time limit,unless the valet specifically tells you there is a 3-hour limit.

The whole concept of parking at a resort to avoid a parking fee and head to a park is getting way out of hand. It is happening all over and causes a big problem for us that actually pay good money to stay at the resort.

I recently returned from the WL. One night I saw a bus pull up from MK. 5 groups of people got off the bus. Everyone walked in front of the bus and straight to the parking lot. Needles to say I had a problem finding a decent spot that night.

I wish Disney would put an end to this and enforce the rules. It is very annoying to be aced out of a parking spot by some cheapskate staying off grounds.

Relax pal.... I am staying onsite.. I simply asked b/c we are doing dinner at Chef Mickey.. STAYING ONSITE AT THE BEACH CLUB.. and renting a car b/c my son is handicapped and the busses are an inconvenience with his wheelchair ...and I didnt know if I could walk to the Magic Kingdom after b/c our plan was to go watch the fireworks.. people ask questions and others give different answers..

If you're just going for fireworks, you may be able to do it in a three hour window.

At the very least, maybe you can have some members of the group, including the person in the wheelchair, walk to the park after dinner, while just one person takes the car to TTC (and then takes the monorail or boat over to MK)? At the end of the night, you could all take transportation back to the TTC (you should be able to ride the wheelchair right onto the ferry for instance) and walk to the car, as the handicapped spaces are very close to the front at the TTC and wouldn't require taking a tram.

Not jumping down your throat, because you honestly don't seem to know. But Disney does not view parking that way. Even if you are staying on site, that still only gives you parking rights at the resort you are booked at. Just because you are staying at the Beach Club doesn't mean that you can go park at the Contemporary, or the Poly, or any other resort and not risk getting towed. You will still only get a 3 hour parking pass, unless you valet park. The Contemporary, Poly, and Beach Club parking lots would all be jammed with people not staying at that resort otherwise. And just think how angry you would be if you pulled up to the Beach Club and there was no place for you to park.
