My name is GoingtoWDWAgain and I keep switching resort reservations......HELP!!!!!!!!!

First I had 7 nights at CSR and 7 nights at Poly....that was too $$$ so....
I switched it to the entire 14 night stay at WL and that was too much at one resort so........you guessed it I switched to 7 nights at CSR and 7 nights at WL and again switched to 9 nights at CSR and 5 nights at Poly (want that Poly stay) still didn't seem right so I switched again to 7 nights at Pop and 7 nights at Poly, and am still thinking of switching. Trip is for July 2 - 16, during the busy 4th of July. I'd rather stay at value or moderate resort first as these will be our major park days and end vacation with deluxe resort. We  the Poly but are trying our best to make it affordable for our budget, that is when I came up with split stay between Pop and Poly which is still a bit $$$. So, now I'm thinking  7 nights Pop and 7 nights WL, Contemporary or AKL  We've enjoyed previous trips at WL, love the monorail service from Contemporary to MK, Epcot and can eat at GF and Poly, never stayed at AKL but the food options don't seem appealing to us and the bus is a must to all parks :sad2:

Any suggestions/tips/ideas

For those that have switched and switched and switched resort reservations, please share your story popcorn::

Too funny. I was going to reply that I had been switching resorts too, but I in no way compare to you. ROFL:rotfl:
I have switched from 2 days at ASMu and 4 days at Poly, to all days at the Poly to now all days at the Yacht Club. A lot of switching for me.
I have this terrible habit of trying to SAVE experiences. I have wanted to stay at the Yacht Club but also wanted to SAVE it for when we have all 4 boys with us. This trip our oldest is not coming along.

I feel your pain!!! I've gone from WL to POFQ to AKL to now Poly and my DH has threatened bodily harm if I switch again !

I'll admit it! I usually end up with something totaly different than what I originally booked. Our original res. was for POFQ. Then we decided to try 4 days at POP and 4 at the Poly. Then free dining came out..." hey Hon, can we put the $$$ we're saving from 9 days of free dining towards our res. and just stay at the Poly?" Great idea as this was our first ever resort together and we absolutely love it there! Then there was a 'mishap" with one of our vehicles and after a storm last week we discovered that our roof now needs a little work. So now we're back to...you guessed it POFQ {except now we've lost our king bed res} All I can say is Sue Ellen from DU is a Saint! Unless we win the lottery we'll probably keep things as they are now! There's still hope for the Poly tho!

Oh sister, I feel your pain. It's a sickness, truly it is:

Last years trip
1. 8nights 2 rooms @ Pop with free dining (planning to rent out my DVC points to pay for it)

Decided since we owned DVC we should use it so

2. 1night at Beach club Villas and 5 nights at Old Key West 2 nights at Vistana

Decided that was too much moving so

3. 6nights at Old Key West and 2 nights at Vistana

Decided I didn't want to stay off property so

4. 6nights at Old Key West 2 nights at the Grand Floridian

Decided that was too much $$$ so

5. 6nights at old Key West 2 nights at All Star Music in the family suites:banana: .

I have made just as many changes with this years reservations...but I won't bore you with the details:rotfl2: .

I switched three times today alone.... I think I passed you for switching sometime last week! :lmao:

Seriously though, it seems like you really want Poly, and my new motto is: "If you really want Poly then book Poly." I, of course, have booked Poly a grand total of three times now but the cost keeps getting me to switch back to POFQ! :scared1:

Good luck!! I hope you enjoy wherever you end up!

Well let's see. I started with 6 nights at the Poly. Then I added a night. Then I changed my dates and changed to Pop. Then I got a PIN and upgraded to CSR. Then I changed it to Pop and WL. Then I changed to CR. Then I switched to Poly again. And now my final outcome it....4 nights at Pop and 6 nights at Poly. :dance3:

Haha... luckily I still haven't made any reservations. I'm not going until next January so I still have a bit of time...

Here's my path...(let me pull up my excel worksheets)
Originally I wanted to stay at AKL Club Concierge and do either the Sunrise or Sunset Safari. It was going to be a 6night/7day stay.
Good right? but a bit pricey.
So I decide Hey what about a split stay - so I considered a split stay between AKL and a Mod. I think at that point I was thinking CBR...
Still the numbers seemed high... we're a couple of starving college students... so I thought ok maybe a Mod the whole time wouldn't be too bad.

I ran the idea past DF and he said he wanted our honeymoon to be special, so he wanted to stay in a nice room. I tried to explain that it would be nice anyways... but he insisted.

Then I thought...hmm... maybe we don't NEEEED to stay Concierge... maybe if we stay in a Standard room we'd still be deluxe, but not to expensive. But in the back of my mind I was thinking maybe we'll get a complimentary upgrade which is not healthy thinking. If we got there and didn't get one, then I would probably be disappointed, so how about splitting it between Standard the first half, then Concierge the second.

Then I was introduced to the Wilderness Lodge Honeymoon Suites. For the low low price of $405/night I could have my very own Jacuzzi. Tempting? Yes.
Also, around this time my mother convinced me that I should do a 10 day trip, not just 7, which of course I thought was a fabulous idea.
So 10 days at Wilderness Lodge maybe Honeymoon Suite, maybe not.

Then I decided that still might be a little steep price wise. I really should probably do a split stay with something else. Port Orleans seemed just right, besides I had never been to Downtown Disney, and it would give me the chance.

Then DF went into the ROTC office and told the administration lady that we're planning on Disney for our honeymoon... she flipped, and was surprised that we weren't staying in SoG. Apparently, cadets qualify. DF told me this and I told him that we can't stay there, because they don't have a King bed option, but I still ran the numbers, and looked at the pictures, but ultimately it was a no. Maybe in a few years when we have kids it will be a nice option, but now... I want a King bed.

Anyways... I'm not sure what the rest of my train of thought has been, but right now this is my plan:

I'm going to book sometime in June, (before DF leaves for officer training) a split stay between POFQ (King Bed) and Contemporary (King Bed - Garden Wing)

Which is how it will stay unless:
1. I convince myself that's too much money.
2. I get an amazing pin number.
3. An awesome code comes out
4. A million people add money to my registry.

If it's any of the bottom three that might mean a resort upgrade, or I might decide that I'd rather spend the extra money on something else... like parasailing... or a Richard Petty Driving Experience for DF...

If it's the top one, then I don't know what I'll do... probably cry. I think I could handle re-evaluating my plans for upgrades... but downgrades... maybe not.

My dream is to stay in a Poly Honeymoon Suite, but that would require both tons of money in the registry and a pin/code.

Anyways... I expect that considering the number of times I've changed my mind until this point... I will probably change my mind a million more times once I've booked.

I know I'll be satisfied with whatever I end up with though... because I'm going to Disney and I have never stayed on the property before.

This will be my first trip. Started out at POR, as it would be a total of 5 of us, one being 6 mos old and 1 being 3 years old, so the three year old could sleep in the trundle bed.
Then changed to a family suite at ASM. Then my son in law got his orders to go to two training sessions, three weeks each, which one of is occuring during our trip. So.....
changed to POFQ...lol
I was worried about my sanity until I read this thread...I feel SO much better, thank you very much!!!
Now if only I could stop changing my ADR's....lol.

I've switched so manys times I feel like I've been to every resort Disney owns and our trip is not till Dec. In fact I told my husband were staying at one resort and that was 3 resorts ago. So right now he doesn't know where we are staying.

To the OP, you are not alone! In the last 3 months, I have switched our resort ressies 3 times! We started out at Pop but I thought my folks wouldnt be comfortable, so then I switched to CBR, but I didnt like how the resort was so spread out, and I changed it to POR. I'm hoping its the last time...time will tell!:thumbsup2

Thank goodness that I am not the only one!!! I have switched our reservations from WL to POR to the GF. We are not going until late Nov./early Dec. so hard telling where we will end up!!:lmao:

You all better watch out. Disney may decide to flag your names and not let you change ressies anymore. :lmao:

Can they do that?????? :confused3

My upcoming trip started out at the WL... then I moved it to the poly and then moved it the the GF now I am staying sugar loaf GF... oh I have some experience with changing ressies :rotfl2:

What? Switching your resort choice and changing a reservation? Never, okay maybe once, well there was that other time, hmmm, I don't think I should really respond to this thread. My poor TA probably takes a shot of bourbon every time she sees an email with my name attached to it.:rotfl: She is incredibly understanding and always seems to get us pretty much what we want.

You are not alone, I do that all the time...it makes my poor DH nuts. I am set on my Aug and Oct reservations though...I think ;)

LOL Sounds just like me!!!!! OK, I haven't actually called to make the switch to Poly...but I keep toying w/ it. We are booked for 8N at POFQ. I've always wanted to stay at a monorail hotel. We're traveling 11/28-12/6 so I can't START my vaca'n there as it will be even BIGGER bucks over Thanksgiving...but the rest of my stay goes into Value season so maybe then???? But then I think we'll be doing MK toward the early part of the week and that's when I'd want to be at a monrail hotel. :scared1: ..but to change rooms 3 times for 8nights is a bit much! Then I think, ok, how about 5N at the Poly and only 3 at POFQ to start our trip. But MAN...the cost of the Poly keeps coming back to haunt me. Will it be worth it? Or worse, will we love it so much I won't want to go back to a moderate??? Our children will be 6 and 9. This would be a great time to splurge on the Poly...or the Contemporary. I've always wanted to do that too. But thinking of the increased cost and what it could buy in terms of food, or trader pins, or souvies....I just stick w/ POFQ. Darn this is tough!!!!
