Does CR "feel" like Disney?

I've been looking at all of the Deluxe resorts. I didn't think I would like CR, but the photos look great! I'm just worried it won't feel like Disney. Does this make sense or am I totally off base?

I totally get what you mean.... I do love the CR, and some things you can't beat, like seeing the monorail come through the concourse! But when we stayed there it was purely for convenience to MK. It doesn't seem (to me) to have the theming of the other resorts.

The room itself was the most gorgeous I have stayed in at Disney, but I agree, that (to me) it does not seem Disney-ish. :)

I understand what you mean. But, the CR was the very first place I stayed at WDW when I was a teen. Nostalgia alone makes it very Disney for me. And what other hotel has a monorail running thru it? That uniqueness makes it Disney. I never feel that because it's not cute and cuddly, or exotically themed that it isn't Disney. It's the uniqueness that makes it special. And it's the only one that you can walk to MK, and has the best views of the MK if your staying parkside. How special is that!

I think of it as classic Disney ;)

Have not stayed there-but hoping to when the new tower is done. But if I saw this out my window every night-I think it would feel like Disney.

The monorail goes THRU the middle of the hotel, and you can walk to Magic Kingdom in less than 10 minutes. I actually think the rooms are nicer than most of the other Disney Resorts. The room size is definitely a plus. Chef Mickey's is definitely Disney-ish.

We cut our teeth at this resort back in the late 70's and 80's. We always stayed in the north garden wings and nothing could be better than going into the Fiesta Fun Center and hearing the click clack of the air hockey tables and games. But low and behold, they shrunk the game room and food court and it lost its ambiance for us. now that they moved it all up stairs we just visit the resort and rather stay elsewhere. We most always stay in the MK resort area, tried all the resorts and have settled on the WL for the last 10 trips, we still boat over to the CR, like the Outer Rim for a drink and just like to watch Bay Lake out the window but they have shrunk the first floor and to us ruined the 4th floor shopping area.

CR is Disney!!!!!!!

Don't ya think?
It's been there from the beginning.
We stayed there are were very impressed.

Felt like Disney to us! We loved it! Got to see Wishes every night from the comfort of our room! Loved the stores and the restaurants! The monorail rocks and just the general overall feeling. The kids said it is their favorite!

I agree CR is disney - The original resort, the monorail, the views. Just such a special resort for my family and Disney memories.

Whenever I've visited there, I never felt like I wasn't at Disney, just being so close to the Magic Kingdom. However, the complete lack of any theming has always turned me off. Of the 3 monorail resorts, it's definitely the least appealing for us.

How can it not 'feel' like Disney?:confused3 It's one of the orginal WDW resorts. If the decore is not to your taste, there are plenty of other WDW resorts at which to stay.

The CR feels like Disney in every way. However, that being what it is, we choose not to stay there because 1) the theme is too much like other chain hotels, and 2) in my eyes, it is too expensive; for that price I would rather stay at the GF or Poly. :)

We stayed there in June 06 and LOVE IT! It felt like Disney to us! My daughter called it "her home in Disney". I had a hard time getting her to feel comfortable with trying the Poly because she loved the CR so much!

I also do know what you mean, however my family and I just love this place! Cute story... when my dh was a child and he went to Disney with his family he told his parents as they were riding the monorail and went through the concourse how he wanted to stay there. Well, his parents told him that when he got older and had his own family he could do that and well, that's just what happened. :) My first 2 trips ever my parents and I stayed at Poly and I felt for the longest time that that would be the place that I would feel the Disney Magic the most. But lo and behold after staying there with the family a couple years ago, I still want to go back to our family's favorite at CR. We love it there. Tower MK view rooms are priceless and the proximity to the MK is awesome.

With that said all the changes we aren't so sure about. But that's just us. We LOVED Concourse Steakhouse's Sticky Mickeys, but now they have changed them and have or will be closing the Concourse Steakhouse and changing the menu and moving it downstairs. Such a shame in my opinion.

We hope, even with the changes that we aren't so "for" - that when they start selling DVC there that we will be able to buy in there. That has been our hope all along.

CR is Disney to me. That's where we stayed in 1976. I'd love to stay there again someday.
:goodvibes

The view of the Magic Kingdom alone is great! The monorail going through the concourse is exciting, the kids loved it!! It's our favorite resort in the Magic Kingdom area.:tink:

Do you have noise from the monorail when you stay in the tower? I'd love to be there next December, watch the fireworks from our room. We do love Sarasota Springs, but location of the contemporary is very appealing.

What you see is what you get.

I think your observations and feelings are something you should use in making your decision. Using the thoughts of others may lead you to making a decision which is not truly yours. The feel of Disney is not tangible and is personal, since in essence the Disney feel in part is you. Personally, the parks have the Disney feel, while the resort just have a theme.

We stayed in the garden wing & and enjoyed the night parade thing as well.
It is certainly different than some of the resorts, but very Disney to us as well.(I just wish we could afford to go back there again!):cool1:

Have fun!

what other resorts has a big Mickey clock in its front. You can't see it until you go up.

has a mickey steel sculptor in the back.

use to have (and I still miss them) Goofy's talking in the tower building elevator. and mickey's in the wings.

wish they would put their voices back!

you can see the fireworks from your balcony - if you have a MK view.

if you have a bay lake view - then it is EWP.

both to me are very Disney.

the CR had been looking not so contemporary. but the new look is a hit and believe me the pictures don't do it justice.

the only complaints that I have seem are the sink in the bathroom - it isn't deep enough? so don't let the kids wash anything without you there or water on the floor.
