Hi I read that the high speed internet is $9.99 for 24hrs so if you only sign on for an hr every day is it going to be $9.99 for each day:confused3 ? I also saw on a search that you can get free dial up from netzero/juno and connect for free with that? I really just want to go online to check my flight times and email

TIA

My husband always buys it one afternoon/evening and then has two days in which to check his e-mails from work. (First evening say 5pm and the next day before that time). He usually does this in the middle of the trip.

DTD at Disney Quest they have internet access upstairs, however you can't always access all web pages, some are restricted.

From my understanding there is free Wi-Fi available at WWOS in several locations. Check with your cell phone provider to see if they offer satellite internet which you might be able to use while in WDW.

Many resort lobbies and convention centers have wifi access.

I've only stayed at POFQ, and because their local calls are free, I just use dial up to check email and airline checkin.

I just bought my laptop last week, so this is all very new to me.

We are staying at AKL. It seems like there is some sort of cable in the closet. Is that the only cord I will need to connect the laptop to the internet, or is there some other cord I need to buy? :confused3

That's all you need to connect to the internet. Well, that and your computer.

the $9.95 per 24hr is a pretty standard charge. I travel a lot for work and that is usually the going rate at most hotels unless they offer it totally free. I jsut stayed at the Marriott World Center in Orlando and it was $10 there as well I believe.

you could find a starbucks or something nearby with free wifi? We have also used the business center at the Coronado Springs before when my hubby needed to get on the internet for some stock stuff during our trip. I think you can pay by the hour there and it is less than the $10. Not sure if the other resorts (mods anyways) offer a business center- CSR does since it caters to conventions/business travellers.

The Disney Business Centers charge $10 for 15 minutes of use. Their hours are limited on the weekends, so you should check with your resort to get the hours.
We have used the centers at Contemporary, Y&B, Grand Floridian and Coronado Springs.
We now have a laptop and just use dial-up in our room. If you use a local number, the call is free. We have an AOL dial-up account in addition to our wireless card.

Do any of the resorts or convention centers at WDW offer this now? We've never been able to find any free WiFi at Disney. If this has changed recently I'd love to know about it! :)

WWoS does offer free wifi access. I used it while there in March. As far as I know that is the only free wifi at Disney. Some of the resort lobbies offer wifi but they also hae a charge associated. Given most nicer hotels I stay in $10 a day or so for access is pretty standard.

This is basically the way we do it also, so that we can technically pay for a single 24 hour period at $9.99 but actually get 2 days use out of it. We are usually back in our room by 9 p.m. so we start our time around 10:30 or so and then we have till that same time the next night to use the internet.

Local/toll-free calls are meant to be charged at 75c connection fee per call at Disney hotels (it used to be free, 10+ years ago). That said, on our stay in October last year, we didn't get any 75c charges at either the BC or POR when using our telephone calling card, which I thought was odd.

January 07, May 07, and January 08 I used dial up at POFQ and was never charged for a call. I even asked at the front desk and they said local calls were free, and I think it says it on the phone.

I called yesterday to learn that Disney charged for the internet connection, or rather for 'high-speed internet'. I asked the lady at the desk why, in the world of free wifi at nearly every business, and in hotels that are $50/night, was Disney dragging it's feet on the free wifi?

I guess it's a guaranteed moneymaker. Few come to Disney to work, so they're going to charge you if they can. I'm a businessman, I understand. However, I'd like to share photos with family at home and maybe blog each day as it passes.

Anyhow, I call bad form on the whole deal, and I won't be spending the $10 for access.

I have a question on this. I understand it's $9.99/night. But is it per room? Or per computer?
