The entire podcast team went to the theater to see the show WICKED.

It was a fa-reekin awesome.

Great songs.

Great humor.

Great spin on the Wizard of Oz.

Just all around good time.

Glad you all loved the show and defied gravity!!

The book is FANTASTIC btw! I read it about 2 years ago and it stuck with me for quite some time. From what I understand there are some great variances in plot from book to stage.

I haven't had the chance to see Wicked other than the Tony's with Indina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth, but I truly want to see it when it plays near me.

the ending was changed to make it better for the stage... much like any good musical, Patty LaPone does an over the top closing number. Or is that how I am going to end the broadway musical adaptation of my autobiography?

I thought Patti Lupone was in the revival of Gypsy?;) And getting raves might I add!

I just think of Patty as the only person that could play me in the musical version of my life.

I LOVE WICKED!!!! It is an amazing show. I was able to see it last year with a friend when it traveled to Houston. Just an absolutely fabulous show. Especially What Is This Feeling? and Popular. I could play those songs over and over and over again.

I'm so glad y'all got to go see the show!

I wonder if "Buenos Aires" would be changed to your venture to Orlando???;)

Lady knows how to belt a tune that's for sure!

OMG! I am soooo jealous!! WICKED looks killer! I have wanted to see that ever since I heard they were making a musical out of it!! Love the book, it too is awesome! I would highly recommend the book, not to mention Gregory Maguire's other stuff. Oh well, it's not like we get lots of musicals here in AK anyway. I'll just wish I can see it someday..............:genie:

I love, love, love Wicked!! The theater in Chicago where Wicked is at is amazing!

I flip between that soundtrack and the Juno soundtrack on my iPod when I am not listening to podcasts.

Loathing
Unadultereated loathing
For her face, her voice, her clothing
let's just say - we loathe it all
ev'ry little trait however small
makes our very flesh being to crawl
AHHH!

They changed the ending? Now I REALLY want to see it!

OK. Thanks a bunch maiziezoe, I will have to go get the soundtrack tomorrow! :goodvibes BTW, love the Juno soundtrack!

I LOVED Wicked, it really was absolutely freaking awesome, would have LOVED to see it with Kristen Chenowith, I'm a huge fan of hers, but alas she didn't come to Cleveland. It was a fantastic show. Up until Wicked my favorite shows were My Fair Lady and Beauty and the Beast, but Wicked blew them away.

I wonder if they will do anything with any more of Gregory MacGuire's books. I think Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister would make an interesting play. Can't imagine it being as good as Wicked though.

I have had Popular stuck in my head since Kevin posted this...:rotfl:

Did you all know Nancy (Idina Menzel) from Enchanted (Robert's girlfriend) played the original Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway and in London? I can always find a Disney connection!

Cool! Glad the PodSquad had a great time! My DW and I have tickets to Wicked when it comes to Rochester in May. Our tickets are for opening night which also happens to be our 13th anniversary.

I saw this on Broadway last month. It is a wonderful show. The props and sceenry were amazing.

So glad you had a good time. I think at most shows they have a lottery where you can put your name in to purchase front row seats for $25. LOTS of fangirls show up for those! I took my DD to the Chicago production for her 17th birthday and she was lucky enough to get front row center. She cried. She really identifies with Elphaba since she thinks she's "beautifully tragic".
