Beastly Kingdom at AK Really Will Open?

Nope.

Just rumors since the place opened. We do know it was intended to be a part of the park. Camp Minnie Mickey opened as a temporary land. In fact, Disney called the place temporary and indicated the Beastly Kingdomme would be built on that site. Then they pulled the budget for it after Asia opened.

Obviously, the rumors persist and hopefully will come true. Complete with The Dragon Tower coaster and its giant talking bats, the Fantasia water ride, the unicorn maze, the mother goose shop, the Loch Ness Monster cafe, etc etc

Ohhh, what is Beastly Kingdom? I like the sounds of that!

When DAK opened, there was to be a land dedicated to the mythological creatures. This is why there is a Unicorn parking lot and a dragon in the logo. Both creatures were to figure prominently in the park.

As the park was being built, it was decided that this area would be constructed after opening. In order to appease crowds, they set up a temporary land, Camp Minnie Mickey. Even well after opening, the area was referred to as a temp land.

Here is a press release from Disney

"Beastly Kingdom is the realm of make believe animals, animals that don't really exist, out of legends, out of fairy tales, out of storybooks. Like our legends and fair tales about imaginary animals, this land is divided into realms of good and realms of evil.

The evil side is dominated by DRAGON'S TOWER, a burned, wrecked castle inhabited by a greedy, fire breathing dragon. He hordes a fabulous treasure in his tower chamber. The castle is also inhabited by bats who speak to us from their upside down perches. The bats have a plan. They enlist our help trying to rob the dragon and fly us off on a wild chase. At last, we meet the fire-breathing dragon himself and barely escape un-barbecued.

The good side of this land is ruled by QUEST OF THE UNICORN. An adventure which sends us through a maze of medieval mythological creatures to seek the hidden grotto where the unicorn lives. There is also FANTASIA GARDENS. A gentle musical boat ride through the animals from Disney's animated classic, "Fantasia." Both the crocodiles and hippos from " Dance of the Hours" and the Pegasus, fauns and centaurs from Beethoven's "Pastoral" are found here."

Other things that were allegedly part of the area was a Mother Goose Gift Shop and a Loch Ness eatery, that was to be built around a small lake that had Nessie pop out to the sounds of scottish bagpipes.

Unfortunately, Disney execs decided it would cost too much and nixed the plans. The theater for Festival of the Lion King has been enclosed perhaps demonstrating once and for all the permanency of the temporary replacement.

Oh well, maybe some day

Wow. Thanks for the info. Even though now I am a bit sad that it may never happen.
