OT: Disney Vault release dates

I wish they would re-release Snow White and Sleeping Beauty! Now that I have a girl, I would definately purchase them!

I am beginning to hate the vault :rotfl: . I pick up DVDs as soon as they are released because if we have a daughter I want to be able to find the video! I am waiting for Beauty and the Beast.

I am waiting for Snow White and Beauty and the Beast. My girls want these so badly!

Any hope that "Song of the South" will ever be released? I've never seen the movie and since our WDW trip in February (and their obsession with Splash Mountain), my kids really want to see the movie, too.

Another Mom needing Beauty and the Beast on DVD here! I hope it comes out soon. Luckily, my DM got me Snow White when it was out the last time b/c that was my favorite as a kid.

i just did this and you can click on the movie title and see if it is available and if it is not you can request that it be released from the vault! I put in my Beauty and the Beast request!!

I think we should start a Dis request to have people go to the site and request Beauty and the Beast. :)

Thanks for letting us know about the option.

Oh, I'm another Beauty and the Beast DVD wanter!!! I've checked ebay and other places, but I just refuse to pay $40 for a DVD that I know I can pay $16 for when it comes out at Target. Any hints as to when it will come out?

I just wanted to mention that I see a few copies of Beauty and the Beast on dVD on half.com for around $20 plus shipping. These are used copies I believe, but I have had no problems with used dvd's off of half.com. Just in case you're desperate...

For those of you who would consider paying the inflated prices to get it off of ebay, be careful. Many of the Disney DVDs are pirated copies. I tried to buy Lion King for my daughter. I stayed away from all listings showing Malaysia and other foreign countries as the location of the item. I purchased one that was being shipped from within the US. The seller had very positive feedback, well over 95%. It was supposed to be a brand new, sealed copy. I got it and the quality of the DVD was extremely poor. It would skip, hang up, and just not play. I realized it was a fake, a very good fake as the packaging was extremely convincing, but it was definitely not a Disney produced product. I filed a complaint and got my money back, but it was a headache. By the time I got my money back, there were tons of negative reviews of this seller. All with the same complaints that I had. I guess the guy's luck had run out and he got a bad batch of pirated copies.

On the other hand, I was thinking back in December about stocking up on Cinderella DVDs before they went back in the vault. I figured I could hold onto them for a few years until there are a bunch of moms desparate to get their hands on Cinderella for their little girls and make a killing. But I decided against it. I'd feel bad charging someone a lot of money for the DVD.

I've heard that they won't release "Song of the South" again due to the fact that it is racially insensitive. I haven't heard that from an authority on the issue but it is a little controversial (I can only remember parts of it, and I was little when I saw it) and could understsand that they may just keep it in the vault.

I bought Beauty..., SNow White and Sleeping Beauty on ebay for a total of $20...no idea it would be pirated. However, I have no problems with any of them at all. I will buy the Disney copy when they are released. So here's the stupid question...is it illegal for me to have these?

Don't worry about it. For one, they aren't necessarily pirated. The seller could have been selling perfectly legitimate copies. I just wanted people to know that these fakes are out there and to be careful. Use PayPal or buy through Amazon's Marketplace where they handle the payment. That gives you some protection should the DVD turn out to have problems. I'd say that knowingly purchasing a pirated copy is probably illegal, but it's not like sellers are advertising "Pirated copy of Sleeping Beauty for sale. And it wouldn't make financial sense for Disney to go after parents purchasing these DVDs online. Really, the copy I got was very convincing. I probably wouldn't have thought it was pirated except that it wouldn't play correctly, then there were other people starting to post feedback complaining about poor quality DVDs. That's when I realized my copy probably wasn't legit.

I'm no expert, but my guess would be that it isn't illegal for you to buy them because how are you to know. The people pirating and knowingly selling them are the ones that are doing the illegal stuff. They are the ones that should worry!
