Still Going To Rent Stroller?

There are quite a few posts of people that will not be renting due to the price increases, but are there still those that will still rent and just budget more money for renting?

I'm not renting a stroller, the only possible way I would rent a stroller was if I was at disney just for the day, but would never pay for more than that. I bought a joovy caboose (which I love) for LESS than what I would be paying to rent

Since we will be there with our 4 four year olds (won't be 4 until November for our December trip) I still plan to rent and to pay the premium by the day cost, just in case they can make it without a stroller on a day or two.

We gave away our quad Runabout to another family with quadruplets, and honestly can't imagine hauling it down to WDW and then managing it in the park anyway. I haven't really seen a double umbrella stroller that would work x2 and that I want to carry, fold up, and manage into and out of the parks.

So we will pay for it and say thank you very much in the end!! Convenience is priceless in our household.

Especially considering that I thought the pre-increase prices were already high! I bought a new Maclaren double stroller and brought it with me for less than it would have cost to rent one in the parks.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this and I think that I am going to have to rent a stroller -- I don't see myself as having another good choice. My kids are 6 (55 lbs) and 4 (45 lbs) and don't need a stroller anywhere but Disney. Their combined weight already exceeds the specifications for the double stroller we own, and even though we could buy another double stroller with a higher weight limit, I don't need it for any other reason and don't really want to store it. We will be there over the summer and it will be hot, so I'm not going to insist that they walk the entire time either. No choice! Disney has me over a barrel.

I'm taking DN in the fall and I'm just going to wait and see what happens. She'll be a week shy of her 5th birthday and I'm hoping that we won't need one. If we do, I'll just rent one. It would cost me just as much to buy one and lug it with me as it will to rent.

Thats the thing now. So many people can now buy stroller much cheaper than they can rent. At least they can resell them if they dont think they will need them after the trip. I bet the Macs are selling like crazy now with their high weight limits they are the best option now for so many families with older children. We love ours and Im glad I have a couple.

NO way, no how! I'm watching one on ebay right now that is just what I want! Even if I bought it RETAIL it would be less than renting it from Disney. I am expressing my opinion with my debit card, and I encourage anyone who feels the same to act accordingly.

With the price increase I seriously considered purchasing a double stroller that will accomodate both my 5yr old and 2 year old and then reselling the stroller, as my 5 year old would never use it again. However the thought of lugging a double stroller on the buses and boats throughout my travels makes me cringe. Not to mention the inconvenience of flying with it then having to list it and sell it. I think we will just sigh and use yard sale money towards the convenience. Sometimes the convenience is worth more than the extra $100.00 we'd actually save.

No, definately not- originally my thinking was it was cheaper than risking my stroller getting damaged in transit on the plane, but with the price hikes I can buy a nice- yet affordable- umbrella stroller with a good layback on it, sunshade and everything for cheaper than hire, if it survives the plane there and back we have a nice stroller at home, if it doesn't we're still $$$ up on what we'd have spent hiring for 2 weeks.

If it turns out we regularly need a 2nd stroller for our middle children (stroller we're taking is for the 1 year old- middle ones are 4 and 5) then we'll be buying a cheap stroller whilst we're there, I'd rather pay $40 for a cheap one to buy in the park than pay the rental fee.

Well, I just asked my DD (who will be 5 for our next trip) if she wants to sit in a stroller or walk. She said walk. YEAH!!!

My girls will be 3 and 6. What we may do is bring DD3's stroller (Zippy) and rent a single for my 6 year old. In fact, we may not even bother with the Zippy, and just have the girls share a rented single. We'll see....

I didn't find flying with it inconvenient at all, and I flew alone with my four year old twins. I pushed it right up to the gate and it was there waiting when we landed.

If anything, it was helpful to have it in the airport.

I normally rent a double and I won't be doing that this trip. A friend gave me her Maclaren Triumph that I cna use for one of my kids. Unfortunately I think I'll haver to rent a single at Disney. I didn't want to rent at all out of principal, but there are a few reasons it will make the most sense. Mostly, I think two of my kids can pile into a single if they have to. Not for a long period of time, but if the oldest needs a quick break she can get in the single with her sister. I thought about buying the Mac Volo, but then I have two strollers and three kids at WDW and two strollers that I don't need once I get home.

I agree about having to lug a double stroller on the bus and plane! What would we do with two sleeping kids, a double stroller and only two adults at the end of the night? We have never been to Disney so I have no clue how well my kids will do--they are 5 and 3. I know I would need one for my 3 year old--she's so little and one of my steps are like 3 of hers! She will tire quickly! We are going during free water parks and more and free park hopper so we saved a few hundred so I guess we will just use the savings to pay for the stroller. Sometimes paying for something that will make your trip more enjoyable is worth it!

Two years ago we bought a Jeep double umbrella style stroller. My kids were 2 and 4. It worked out great! It was $80 and at the time it was right around the same price as renting. We used it to and from bus stops and were so glad we had it.Here is a picture then:

The next year we brought the same stroller. Still worked great but one of the bolts in the back popped off on day one so I tied a bandana around the back hinging part and we used it for 10 days. The weight limit on this stroller is 35lbs on each side. We were really pushing it last year. Here is a picture:

Now my daughter will be 7 on our next trip and she weighs 40lbs. My son is 4 and weighs 35. Our plan is to use that stroller until it takes it's last stroll. It was bought for Disney and it shall die at Disney. At that point after saying our tearful goodbyes we will either have the kiddos hoof it or rent one for the remainder of our trip.

We will still be renting. The difference in price for us between the old and new prices is only $70.

Definitely not renting. It was our plan originally, but we'll be there for 7 days, and my 2 year old will definitely need one every day (not sure on the 4 year old, but I'm guessing he'll need one in the afternoons). I just bought 2 brand new ones for less than what it would cost to rent, and I can sell one of them on Craiglist when I get home, bringing the cost down even more.

I think Maclaren should write Disney a thank-you letter for the sales increase, lol.
