Haunted Mansion and Princess

Has anyone ever taken a toddler on the Haunted Mansion? We have a child who will be 17 months old when we take our trip, and we're a little worried about taking her on that specific ride.

Also, does anyone know the best place to find Princess Aurora and Princess Jasmine? The little one actually watches those two movies, so we want to make sure she meets them.

I think Princess Auroa can be found at Kreshus in Epcot story book dining and I would assume that you could catch Jasmine around the carpet ride. I hope someone else has some better answers for you

Aurora and Jasmine are two of the easier characters to find. Your best bets are CRT and Akershus (Norway in EPCOT) for meals, and by the garden in France (Aurora) and in front of the Morocco Pavillion (Jasmine) in EPCOT. Also, in the Toontown Hall of Fame you can probably find one or both, and Jasmine can sometimes be found in Adventureland by the Flying Carpets and the Tiki Room. If you own an oil company, you could also meet Aurora at the GF at the Princess Tea Party for $225 for you and your daughter. If your husband wants to come, it's an extra $700 and a kidney or something.

We took our ds at 23 months on the Haunted Mansion. He did fine. I think the idea of 'ghosts' is really lost on the really little ones, so as long as they are okay with it being a darker ride, they will be fine.

Pirates actually was the ride that he really seemed scared on, and he just sat on my lap the whole time. Pirates is dark too, but the sounds are a lot more abrupt and quick.

Also remember that with the princess characters, they are 'face' characters -meaning a real person in a dress. That really threw off my ds. He liked the fluffy characters (Pooh, Mickey, etc) but was a little shy about talking with the 'face' characters.

Thanks so much for all the advise. Sounds like it'll be alright to take her on it as she's not scared of the dark. It's always been one of my sister and my favorite rides, so we want to share it with her.

Also, for the characters, thanks. She actually does much better with face characters than the fluffy ones. She gets a bit frightened of people in masks. Thanks again.

We took my 16mo dd last year, and she had no problems whatsoever. Didn't faze her as she didn't 'get' it. I expected my then-4.5yo dd to have some issues, but she LOVED it (not sure she 'got' it either - but she *still* walks around repeating "I do . . . I DID!").

One of my boys was 16 months the last time we went. He went in the Haunted Mansion with us about 6 times. He was fine. I think it depends on the kid...each one is different and there's really no way to tell what they'll be afraid of. If I remember correctly he was afraid of something tame like the Buzz ride or something which we'd never have guessed. But after going on it over and over he even got used to that.

We took our 19 month old on HM and he did just fine. He shouted "Dou-Dou" (Ghosts) the entire time! It was pretty funny.

We found Aurora in the Judges tent in Toontown. She was there with Cinderella and Belle. We never found Jasmine but I have heard she can be found in Morocco.

LOL!!! I actually took my daughter to the Tea Party and it was well worth the kidney I had to sell.

We did the Princess Storybook Buffett at Akerhaus and got most of them in one fell swoop. We were fortunate that Cinderella stopped by that day too.
Mulan was just down the road at the China Pavillion.

The one that was the hardest to find was Pocahontas but we found her at the Conservation Station in AK

my 6 year olds still dont really get the "scare" effect to it. i think the theming and the reaction from others is what sets little ones fears. if they overhear someone being afraid, theyll probably be afraid as well. just keep the positive comments, such as "mickey has a halloween house!" and "this is gonna be fun!, were gonna see silly spooks!" and just keep them smiling.

epcot is your best bet for the princesses. world showcase and akershus

On our sons' first trip to WDW our youngest was 8months and oldest was 3. We took them both on the Haunted Castle Our oldest was fine, the baby didn't know the difference. We just laughed and made light of it for them.

Also, last July we saw Jasmine by the Magic carpet ride and got pics. My boys were in LOVE

We took our son from 6 months on. No issues ever. It is his favorite ride still at age 5.

We took DS on at age 13 months and then again a few weeks ago (at age 3). He was fine when he was younger. At 3, he was a bit scared in the first room but once we got on the ride, he was fine. We kept it positive and happy and talked him through it.
