So could this all be part of another plan?

They have said in many posts they are working on a way to keep VMK people in touch, then the letters about we have heard your pleas and concerns etc.
My theory is that this is a marketing device. I think in a week or two we are all going to get notified that they have heard our pleas, seen the outpouring and while they can't afford to keep it a free game, they have decided to give us a pay to play option and everyone is going to bite and jump on in and that's what they wanted all along.Any thoughts?

I have considered this very thing. Know what? I don't care. I will pay them their $50 - $60 a year and I will see you all on VMK. :thumbsup2

I think that would be a great idea. Maybe they were just seeing how willing we would be to pay to play.

It's just wishful thinking though... but it could always be true.

Now that I'm employed, I can actually spend my hard earned money on something like VMK. Haha, I'll just have to forego non-virtual items since my pay is minimal. But boy oh boy, VMK would DEFINITELY be worth it!

I think it's time for Disney to show they are true leaders of innovation and set the standard for on-line gaming in the 21st century by instituting a play for pay policy. I feel this will be as popular as the 1 for 2 nights at my local restaurant that's no longer open for some reason.

Bad thing is the other pay to play Disney games are $80.00 a year which is way to much in my opinion. I could handle $50.00

And yes I think this could very well be what they had in mind all along.

That would be fabulous if it were true but somehow I just don't see them creating a big elaborate marketing ploy by telling us all that the game is closing just to elicit a "we'll pay-to-play" response from the players so that they can charge us:( I think they would probably just tell us that VMK is switching over to a pay-to-play. I have a sneaking suspicion it has something to do with the contract with Sulake, but thats JMO :) At any rate they have heard our pleas and are responding so thats definitely a good thing! Keep sending those letters and e-mails guys! :thumbsup2

Seriously, there has to be a plan. Getting rid of a Virtual Version of the most Magical Parks ever, I just cant see it happening. Revamping a system that could not handle the volumes that play at that Magical Park, now that is something I see happening. Here is hoping that is the plan to only make VMK bigger and better.

My DH has said that it's been the plan to make VMK pay-to-play since the initial announcement. He can be a bit of a pessimist sometimes ;)

This has been on my mind the last few days. The Blackheart Quest showed how much improvement was needed to VMK with the lock down on pirate lobby and also the major lag most experienced. Also with Yavn stating they were trying to figure a way out for VMK players to recognize each other in other Disney.com games and "the new beginnings" thing. Maybe I am a conspiracy nut and just want my VMK - but I got a feeling that VMK is closing and something else is launching. Besides when has Yavn ever given us any direct infomation. Always a little hint of what is to come. Maybe the hint is VMK is closing and ...

I am more than willing to pay for my VMK as is but if the game is being relaunched bigger and better well - :worship:

Thanks for letting me dream, now back to playing mansion. And keep up all the good work ppl.

I've thought about this too. Especially as they gave us a 6 week window.
Why else would they have given such a long window when it's a free game.

If it was already pay to play, I could understand the notice. But Disney isn't really known for giving a lot of notice for things closing when they aren't making money off of it.

If it was Disney's idea to annouce the closing when they already had plans to make it Pay to Play I think that is selfish and cruel especially to kids. VMK kids (including my children) are the ones taking the closing the hardest and Disney should be ashames of themselves if this was the plan all along.

I agree. If their plan was to announce pay to play after the closing scare it was very unfair to the kids who play.

Plus people are purging their inventory. Imagine if they changed their mind or allowed people to pay to play with their existing inventory.

I would hope that if VMK is still allowed to exist, it will be a "whole new world". I hope we can start over in something bigger and better.
