Okay, so I thought someone on the family board may have done this. We're going to DC this summer with our kids ages 14, 12 and 2. I've read that all bags and strollers are prohibited in the White House... so even if we contact our Congressman about a tour, it's pretty much out of the question from a practical standpoint with a 2-year old, isn't it? Has anyone dealt with this issue? :headache:

We took the tour when my one son was a about 15 months old. It was fine. When we went on the FBI tour I was asked to leave before it started :lmao: . That day my son was a little too noisy and antsy.

I think the second instance sounds like my DS! :rotfl:

I'm more concerned about logistics - going in without a diaper bag, etc. I can't imagine hiking back to our hotel after that to gather all the gear... my understanding is there is no place nearby to store or check those things like they have at some of the musuems, etc. Anyone experience that, or would you just say forget about the White House this trip?

I'm curious about this also. We are thinking of doing a side trip in September when we go for a wedding. My kids will be 9,7 & 2. I was also curious about what to do with the stroller and diaper bag.

We've been to the White House 3 times and they are very strict about bringing anything in. I took a simple wallet/purse, and that was permitted. We always went back to our hotel immediately afterwards to get what we needed for the rest of the day. I would call your congressman's office and see if you would be allowed to have a stroller.

We stored our gear at the Museum of National History (there are lockers to your left as you enter). It's maybe a 10-15 minute walk to the White House. Just make sure you have some quarters for the lockers.

Enjoy your trip!
