I wasn't aware that I could get SW credit if my fares dropped until I read about it on this board. I obtained an $80 credit last week and was able to apply that to my mother's ticket that we booked yesterday (she is coming to WDW for a few days when we are there to see her grandkids' first trip). With the fare sale that started a few weeks ago and our credit, she is flying RT from St. Louis for $104!!! Thanks DIS-ers, you guys are awesome :thumbsup2

WHAT? If fares drop SW credits? How does this work?

From the Southwest site go to "Travel Tools"; "Change Air Reservations" and follow the instructions. It is very easy to do . . . did it last week for our upcoming WDW trip and got a $40 credit to use in the next year. It wasn't much (the fare only went down to $74 from $79). Takes a few minutes.

It is a great policy. Too bad American doesn't have the same one, we just had the fares drop for a trip we are taking in the fall. I will try much harder to always use SW in the future :goodvibes

hey hilbrink...how far out did you book your trip??? im in st louis and going to orlando sept 12-21..did you use ding?

Booked in Jan (the day the fares were released) for a May trip. I didn't use Ding, just checked on my fares and noticed they had dropped.

Any other airlines do this??? like Airtran?? lol

AirTran does issue credits when the fare is reduced, minus the phone fee. It has to be for the exact same flight you have booked and there have to be seats available at the sale fare. If you have 3 seats booked and they only have 2 available at the sale price, you can only get the credit for 2 of them. The credit isn't a cash credit, it's for a future flight and is good for one year from the date of your original purchase.

will airtran change your flight for you or is there a fee to do it??? like we booked a flight leaving Buf @ 6:40 am and getting into MCO @ 2:00 pm
they now have a flight thats gets in at 10:40am... what do you think my chances are if i called and asked to switch flights?

AirTran will be happy to change your flights for you, but you will have to pay the change fee and any applicable increase in fare.
