Got a question for anyone familiar with airtran. There is a $75 per ticket charge if you change or cancel your reservation, plus any increase if you are just changing and booking another flight. What happens if you DON'T cancel your reservation and just don't show up for that flight?

Hubby suggested we add a couple days onto our upcoming Disncy cruise, but to stay on site and visit parks. Being I already booked my airfare, it's goign to cost me $150 to change the one set of tickets (plus the extra to book the different flight). Sometimes I can get a flight cheaper than that, so why not just not show up to ride that one flight home. Can they keep you from boarding a different flight? Sorry, jsut not sure what they can/can't do.

You didn't say when you were flying, but from your signature it looks like 5 months from now. Like all airlines, AirTran does change their schedules. Some say more than others. But they're very accomodating if they do. My suggestion is to watch for a schedule change on the flights you have booked. If it changes, call AirTran and ask for your desired dates or for a complete refund. If the schedule doesn't change and you aren't going to use your flights at all, I would still call AirTran see what they can do for you. I'm assuming you paid less than $75 for your flights. If you paid more you should call and cancel when you know for sure that's what you want to do. They will deduct $75 from the price you paid and issue a credit for any remaining balance. That credit is good for one year from the date of original purchase. And I would definately be watching for a price decrease while deciding, as you can get a credit when that happens, too.

thank you, i hadn't thought about that (a credit). i will keep an eye out. I have had them change our flights in the past (only once) and we were able to get a non stop because of it, but that was the same day. I was looking to change it a couple days. Might just have to wing it and plan to spend our pre cruise day at the parks and call it a visit.

I'd be interested to know the answer to this also. We have Skybus booked to Florida next month and unfortunately it's looking like we may not be able to make it...considering we only paid $30 pp for the plane tickets the cancellation fee would be more than the cost of the tickets so I'm wondering what happens if we just don't show up.

If you do not show up for your flight you are considered a no show and the airline will cancel your whole itinerary. I agree that if it's going to cost you $75 plus an additional in fare you might be able to purchase a one-way ticket for less. AirTran isn't known for having massive schedule changes like most airlines so I don't know if that will work in your favor.
