Delta imposing a variety of higher fees as of April 1st, 2008

Well, aren't you the little ray of sunshine!:sunny:

With that one way, one stop fare From Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando eight months out for $702 plus second bag fare and new charges. I am jumping aboard!:rotfl:

I am so glad I booked last week. We bit the bullet and booked 4 tickets for $1500 from Bangor To Orlando. Still much better than the $5100 we were quoted with air Canada and Westjet:rotfl2:

I'd gladly drive 4 hours to Bangor to save that much in airfare:thumbsup2

Delta's website is still showing 2 bags checked free.

I'm not sure what Delta will do when passengers use a credit card charge back.

Your credit card company will probably do nothing... Once Delta tells them "we changed the rules and here on page 432 of the contract of carriage it says we can" Delta is covered...

Especially since you have to GIVE them cash or a credit card to check the second piece of luggage. They don't automatically charge the card on file. At that point you agreed. Forced or not.... (Folks have already tried this stunt on overweight charges that were changed, those were also effective immediately and there were posters on flyertalk who tried protesting the charge, they lost)

Based on the first post of this thread I thought the baggage charges were effective 4/1. The CoC (but not the baggage FAQ) on Delta's website now show the change in checked allowance taking effect 5/1.

The CoC of is suppose to clarify and amplify the material on the main website. It's not ethical for the CoC to contradict terms listed in the main website.

I don't have any problem with airlines looking for additional sources of revenue but I have a problem when airlines try to keep the changes secret so passengers are stuck paying.

Have to agree...I have no problem with the 'extra' fees/charges. But they can at least post them on their website so passengers can plan accordingly. I can't, in all good faith, tell our posters to go to Delta's site and see what they recommend for baggage allowances..not any more. They are just putting misinformation out there.
Sure, go ahead and note that you can check two pieces of luggage, as they do now. But at least put in that by such and such a date (May 1) you will have to pay for that second bag. There are a ton of people who fly yet do not know this. Can you imagine the chaos at checkin on May 1??? Perhaps I'll head to Logan and just stand and watch it happen.
