The other thread was so long I thought I'd start a new one for specific questions...?

For those of you who have used them, did any of you just send the package based on the info in the email or did everyone actually talk to someone?

Did any of you just go to a FedEx drop and do that packaging yourself? there's no padded FedEx envelope at the local one; can I just buy a little generic padded envelope for the gold?

Did you put a declared value on the FedEx package? I don't really want to do that, but I know the value is probably around $350 and don't want to end up w/only $100 if it is lost for some reason. I feel like I'm advertising to people to steal this envelope.

Thanks for your help!

I used them.

I actually sent my shipment from my work which has FEDEX as our preferred carrier. I would call FEDEX and have them bring you the necessary stuff and you fill it out and they will take it for you.

My turnaround time was fantastic. I shipped it on a Monday and they had it Tuesday am (I tracked it). I was called around 4 pm with my payout amount and I had my $$ in my paypal account by 7 pm.

The person that I spoke to was very nice.

I didn't have any issues.

Good Luck!

I tried to read through the other thread, too and got to about page 15 before I lost track of things.

So, is it the consensus to use USGold and not anyone else?

Thanks and have a great day! :goodvibes

Can someone give me the readers digest version of what US gold is and how it works? TIA!

I requested info from USGoldBuyers.com and immediately received an email on how to ship them my gold.

The email includes info on how to ship via FedEx, including a phone number to call for supplies and pick up. It also includes a copy of the Method of Payment Form as well as an example of how you will need to fill out the FedEx paperwork.

I packed my gold into a small padded envelope with my Method of Payment Form and took it to FedEx/Kinkos. At FedEx/Kinkos the man working at the counter asked me to put my padded envelope into an official FedEx cardboard mailer. By using the official FedEx mailer it was insured up to $500, otherwise it was only insured for up to $100 (correct me if I am wrong but this was my understanding).

He double checked the info I had put on the blank form and then handed me a copy of the form and a receipt after he weighed the package and entered all the info into the computer.

The package is shipped overnight to USGB, USGB is billed through their FedEx account for this, no money out of pocket.

Once they get your package they evaluate it, contact you with an amount and pay you as you indicated on your Method of Payment Form http://www.usgoldbuyers.com/mop.gif

Thanks so much!

My local jeweler offered $529 ~

USGB offered $1003.90 ~ i was thrilled!

Also, Fed Ex WILL PICK UP. Its on the USGB instructions they email to you.

Per their instructions: i called Fed Ex for a pickup, got my jewelry ready in a padded envelope, the Fed Ex guy came to my door about 6 pm on Thursday WITH SUPPLIES (the box, tape etc) and shipping label that i filled out. It was rec'd on friday morning ~ you track it on line.

I got my call today. Easy as can be.

Definitely go with the on-line guys as the local jewelers are *middlemen* making their profit by taking in jewelry and sending it away also.

Hope this helps!

I saw someone say they used the # on the sample shipping label for the account # for usgoldbuyers-did anyone use this # or did you pay for shipping and get reimbursed?

USgoldbuyers are not accepting any new calls until Monday March 24th :(

That might not be a bad thing. I just read an article that said gold went down today after the interest rate cut was announced. Maybe it will go back up next week.

Yes, i used THEIR Fed Ex number, as they instruct us to do in their email.

You do NOT pay for shipping and you NOT have to leave your house.

It's in their instructions: Fed Ex will PICK UP at your home providing EVERYTHING you need.

Folks, you're making it too difficult.

It isn't. Just follow the instructions they send you in the email.

Thanks for replying. This is what I did too. Did you also call? Or did you just let the email suffice?

Remember they are not even taking phone calls regarding this until Monday, they'e been swamped since the Wall Street Journal article.

Yes, but I emailed and received the shipping info attachment Monday night. I couldn't sit home today and wait for FedEx to bring me stuff so I mailed it at a postal connections type place. The instructions did not say I had to also call; seems like it would just repeat the stuff I emailed.

The email they sent me said to pay for shipping and they will reimburse me for the shipping but there is a account# in the sample shipping label. So if I follow the email I WOULD pay for shipping up front anyway.Just seeing if anyone did this or just used the #

Hmm, thats interesting.

Maybe it was changed, or are you reading the part of the value over 5K?

Here is part of the email they sent me:

Shipping Instructions
1. Pack your valuables securely in a manila envelope or cardboard box. When packing,
we suggest small ziplock bags or some sort of wrap (silver foil, etc.) before inserting in
the box or manila envelope.
2. Contact Federal Express by calling (800) 463-3339 to schedule the pick up.
Make sure to tell FedEx that you need supplies.
(FedEx small or large padded envelope, or box and a blank airbill).
Do not use letter envelopes because they tend to rip if they get wet or mishandled.
If the value of your shipment is more than $5000.00, we advise to use USPS Registered Mail with signature required. U.S. Gold Buyers, Inc. will reimburse all of your shipping expenses.
Please use the sample airbill below to assist you in filling it out properly. Remember that FedEx is there
to help you so don’t hesitate to ask any questions.

Hope this helps.
Oh, and note that you can't just do this without first contacting them and receiving their 'official' email with these - or other - instructions.

I should add that their email gives their account number for fed ex and all their personal company specifics for filling in the packing slip and label.

Last week at this time i was a cynic, but having made more than twice what my local guy wanted to give me, i am a believer! Its amazing to make so much on stuff i didn't even remember!

Best of luck to everyone.

I'm wondering which method of payment to request. I'm hesitant to ask for Paypal because of the darn fees. How do Western Union and MoneyGram work? Do they incur any fees? Would a company check be very safe? What are you all doing?

I requested a check since I've been hearing there are paypal fees.

They said the check was sent out the same day they called with my offer and I should have it in a few days.

:cheer2:

Shipping was super easy. Click the link on their site for the information to be emailed to you. Call fedex and request and envelope and blank airbill- and they bring it to you and pick up your package. I sent mine out Thur. last week, it was delivered Friday, and I got a call with my payout on Saturday at somepoint (not sure of the time because I was at Disney and missed the initial call)

Paypal fees for me were about $11 for a $382 pay out. It wasn't that bad. And the money was in my paypal account within 15mins of hanging up the phone with USGoldbuyers.

Really, it is VERY easy, I didn't have to contact them other than the clicking of the link on their page for them to email me information. It was SUPER easy!!
