I have a problem and need advice. I used a $6 RR when I purchased a Garnier face cream. It is one that is free after MIR. The girl couldnt get it to go through, so what she did is.... voided out the 12.99 price of the Garnier and made it 6.99. This was my fist time using a RR so I didnt think anything of it. Until, I got home and started to fill out the MIR form. I am pretty sure that when I send the rebate in I will only get 6.99 which I dont think is fair.
That is like taking my 6.00RR away from me. I went back to the store today and talked to the assistant manager and she said there was nothing she could do :sad2: I told her I didnt accept that answer and I wanted to talk to a manager and she said no other manager was working. She told me to call 1800 walgreens. I did as soon as I got home and it is only an automated line? So, I need some help please!!!
Thank you so much,
Heather

I'm not sure I'm following, but does your MIR refund the amount you purchased the product for? If so, you have the receipt to show your purchase price and will get that amount back, yes?

I am not a Walgreens expert, but it looks to me that she did cheat you out of your $6 RR by adjusting the price. She should of just keyed it through as a coupon. Does the rebate say "up to $12.99" or $12.99?

So, you wanted to use the $6 coupon for something that was 12.99 that you will get the 12.99 back. So you wanted to make a quick $6... Now that the sale is done, I don't think there is anything you can do about it... if you would have see it sooner, when she was ringing you up, you could have just saved the $6 to use on something else and paid the 12.99 and got the 12.99 back........ Sorry it didn't work out... keep us posted and let us know if anything happens.

Yeah I agree they will only send you the 6.99 rebate. You can't return it either since you won't get your $6 RR back. I am sorry that happened, stuff like that happens to me ALL the time. I usually have good coupon karma later and get back what I lost so I hope that happens to you. :wizard:
Maybe you could email customer service and hopefully they would send you some coupons or something at least.

The clerk needed to ring it up as $12.99, so that would show as your purchase price. That way she would get back her entire $12.99, instead of only the $6.99 the receipt shows currently. I have not had this happen, but am curious to know how you're able to resolve it. Good luck!

This deal is good for the month of March. It is something like buy one Garnier face product get UP TO 12.99 back. I have been cheated out of the 6 RR and I am upset about it. This seemed like a good deal to me that is why I did it. This was my second time shopping at Walgreens, the first was to get the 6 RR for the Venus razor. I do not think I will be shopping at Walgreens ever again. I will stick to CVS!!! I like it much better! And they have not ripped me off!!

Oh BTW the receipt does show the 12.99 at the top, but then she voided it and that shows at the bottom and adjusted the price to 6.99, UGH....
Thanks for all the advice so far and please keep them coming. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution!

Did you call the 1-888-324-3028 number in the easysaver catalog? They have someone answering the phone from 7am-7pm CST 7 days a week. I would try calling that number and explaining to them what happened.

Sorry this happened, Walgreen's is famous for things like this and it's very hard to explain what happened to do a return, but I absolutely would in your case because that's a big rebate item.

Last week I used the Curel Easy Saver coupon on 2 items, it took the $4 off, then I used mfg. coupons (which is allowed). Instead of scanning the mfg. coupons, the cashier voided the two Curel and entered them in as a taxable item minus the mfg. coupon. This added the $4 back from the Easy Saver coupon. I tried to explain and she said she knew what I was up to and wasn't going to allow it, so I said that it's always been okay to use a Walgreen's coupon and a mfg. coupon on an item (they still weren't free) and she said she was tired of people doing that. I just paid and left, I have 5 more Walgreens to choose from. I'm just spoiled from CVS and I end up having to take my free Excedrin after I get finished at Walgreens (but I LOVE their clearance!).

LanaJae, my Walgreens doesn't let us use mfg. coupons with their store coupons. I tried twice and the cashiers (two different ones) told me I couldn't do it.

OP, you can always try to send in the receipt and circle the 12.99 price for the Garnier if you don't get a different response from Customer Service. Might be worth a try if you can't do anything else.

Is that the only item you bought? Did you use a coupon too? You can only use one manufacturer's coupon per item and the RR says manufacturer's coupon on it (at least most of them do).

Was she a manager? Where is it her place to decide to be "tired of people doing that" and not allow it. That is Walgreens corporate policy!

I wouldn't have paid. I would have either called the manager or Walgreens or left without the product and gone somewhere else.

Of course, at one of my Walgreens the manager came out and wrote down my license plate number after I purchased a Fusion Phenom razor with a coupon and used a Register reward and paid little OOP.

I just love it when cashiers make up their own rules  I've been doing the rebate thing at Walgreen's for many years, and I've never once had a problem using a coupon from either the Easysaver catalog or their sale ad with a manufacturer's coupon. Their store coupons are really just a way of providing a sale price, so why shouldn't we be able to use manufacturer's coupons with them? Makes no sense.

I've been having issues with their register rewards, too. They only give you a week to use them, which I didn't notice and one of my $6 expired :headache: Believe me I'll be more careful next time!

as far as the mail in rebate goes, if you would have used the RR coupon, off the 12.99 you wouldn't have gotten the full amount back anyways. you only get back what you pay for it.

Hmmm....I've never used a RR for a FAR item, but if you use a manufacturer's coupon (which a RR states that it is) you get back the full price it rings up at. They do NOT deduct manufacturers coupons used from your rebate.

To muddy the waters even further, I had a manager tell me you can't use RR to purchase FAR items. I have no idea if that's true or not...I purchased an item that should have given me a RR, but the catalina machine was broken so they gave me a note to take $6 off my next purchase. Then they hassled me about it when I tried to use it, until I pointed out that I did indeed have $6worth of items that weren't FAR things. :confused3

I'm not sure I'll even bother with any RR items in the future. Seems like the confusion/problems are stemming from them.

Many of ours encourage it like CVS does when they put the circle in the ad that says to look for a mfg. coupon, so I was really surprised with the Curel thing.

No, she was a teenager lol - I shouldn't have paid, but I just wanted to get out of there and go back to my happy place (CVS).

What can be done about people like that manager? I would've been livid. I guess all we can do is avoid stores with managers like that and hope that everyone else does too, but I sure feel bad when people live in areas where they don't have another store option.

When RR first started a manager told me that you could not use a RR in the same transaction that a RR would be triggered.

In other words, so they said, you can't pay for a RR item with a RR no matter if it's the same day or even next week because you're not really paying for it. All subsequent RR items end up being free plus you get a RR. That's abusing the system because you're just recycling your original money.

I no longer shop at Walgreen's. It's too much of a hassle to remember what I can and cannot buy with my RR from week to week.

That's exactly what many of us do at CVS, we're recycling our original money with ECBs. Aren't register rewards being reimbursed back to the store like manufacturer coupons? Does anyone know?

Hello everyone!
I am learning more and more about Walgreens daily and I am pretty certain I will be avoiding it like the plague!!! :rotfl2:
Is there any advice about my situation? I still dont have any clue what I should do.

Thanks!!
