Hello everyone,
I was just wondering....this may sound stupid...but my kids love to feed the ducks (I know your really not supposed to);) but does anyone know if there are ducks at the beach club to feed?? We stayed at the GF and had lots of ducks, we stayed at the poly and had lots of ducks.

If they also like to swim with them, your kids will be thrilled! Yes, there are ducks at the BC and they're known to swim in SAB

OH NO!!! PLEASE do NOT feed the water fowl at the Beach Club!!!! They are EVERYWHERE! They swim in SAB and poop all over the ground near Hurricane Hanna's.... The ducks pester any guests trying to eat at Hanna's... here is a lovely view of some of the lovely creatures and their droppings as we tried to eat lunch one day....

If you MUST feed the ducks, please do it on your walk to Epcot away from the resorts.... PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASSE!!!!!

:thumbsup2

One year we stayed at the Beach Club and there was an entire family swimming around, ducklings and everything. I didn't think they were too annoying, though, just cute.

Please don't. Sure, it'll entertain your kids, but it's bad for the ducks and contributes to the problems with aggressive birds at WDW.

The birds are wonderful to look at, and you can use this as a opportunity to teach the kids about what ducks like to eat, and how they catch their food, and to teach them that you can make animals sick by feeding them things they're not supposed to eat.

I realize that Disney has that rule & it is posted. But they should tell the CM's that pilot the boats to & from Hollywood Studios to Epcot not to feed the ducks as they do so it is confusing to the kids when they are told by their parents not to feed the ducks but the some of the CM's do. I ask one of them once & was told I am the captain of the boat I will do what I want lol.:rotfl:

Sounds like he was a winner.
I'm going to echo the other posters. I stay at the BCV's often and while the ducks are really cute, the bird poop is not and when they start becoming aggressive when you snack they cease to be cute. Imagine walking around SAB and stepping in duck droppings. :scared: Not sure but check by the beach area, there may be ducks down there. I don't think it would be confusing to the kids at all. Mommy or daddy says we have to follow the rules. Remember the classic mother line "if your friends jump off of a bridge, would you do it too?"

We feed the ducks on the beach when we have leftover bread. It doesn't take much to have a large crowd around you though. They will start to get aggressive if certain ducks don't get fed either.

He is 'a winner'...he is one of my favorite CMs at WDW. In fact, I am looking at a photo of him as I type. The thing to remember here is this...he is on the water, where the ducks live..their natural habitat. They are not bothering anyone. They are not coming into the boat and taking food out of the hands of children.
But, this is exactly what they do at the resorts. I have been harrassed by the ducks at almost every resort. I don't mind them swimming in the pool but I do have a problem with them pecking at my feet and legs as I sit by the pool, trying to get me to feed them. They were absolutely brutal at MK at the Plaza area.
Please don't feed the birds in WDW. Between the ducks, the crows and the other assorted nasty birds dive bombing for food, well they need to stay on the water where they belong!!

Disneyfan1977,

I love the ducks too! Since you are staying at the BC just take the walkway, in back of the Boardwalk, to Hollywood Studios. You will more than likely find a family of ducks along the way.

Here is a family my youngest DS and I encountered on one of our trips. They were so cute!!!:) It is away from the resorts so you can feed them there!

The natural diet of ducks does not include bread. Or crackers. Or fries. The ducks at Disney World or anywhere get enough of their natural food that feeding them "human food" isn't necessary. Ducks will poop anywhere no matter what they are fed. And they will go anywhere that they don't feel threatened. So no matter if people feed the ducks or not, they will still be around at Disney World.

But - don't feed the ducks just because it's not part of their natural diet. That's something kids can learn very easily.

there are birds and every and each one of the WDW resorts. these guys know a hand out - or even misplaced trash - will be there.

don't think these will become a problem - but now WDW has some eagles, hawks, and other birds that will hunt.

the eagles who I only though would only eat fish - were attacking the bunnies.

so would expect a few to figure out where the birds that they hunt live and start taking their fill.

I was eating a hot dog in Liberty Square and a seagull came and took the hot dog right as I was putting into my mouth. I screamed so loud. My family had a good laugh.

Don't feed the mice either. We were at Disneyland and we saw mice in the bushes around the carousel. It was kind of gross, but then I thought they really can't kill a mouse here...bad form.

Wow...I had no idea....we were just feeding them crackers and such. But I guess we won't this time. We do enjoy watching them waddle around. They are soooo cute. I don't mind them. :cool1:
