Split Stay and refillable mugs

Hi,

We will be going in April and we are staying 2 days at SSR and 8 days at BWV. If we buy our mugs at the SSR can we use them at the BWV as I've heard they are only good at the resort you buy them at. Any help appreciated. Thanks!!

They are supposed to be only good at the resort you bought them, but they are a generic Year of a Million Dreams mug....everywhere except one resort (CSR maybe?). So they would not know if you bought it there or at SSR. I wouldn't put down 12 more dollars just because you are doing a split stay, in my opinion you are still staying there for one trip, so non-issue. JMHO, but I am sure the moral compass of the DIS boards will jump in about how it is dishonest and they would NEVER condone this (or tipping under 45% at every restaurant!)

You can use them at different resorts... no one will even question it because they are the same now (as pp stated, they are A Year of A Million Dreams) ...

We actually bring old ones back from the resorts we have stayed....always bring our WL back to the WL and just brought back AKL mug back to AKL even though we bought them 7 years ago.... those mugs look very different and still no one said anything to us... I have seen several people do the same thing... don't worry about it.

Anyway, you should be fine I think that CR is the only resort that does NOT have the YoaMD mugs, so you can buy one at SSR and it'll be great throughout your whole stay Have fun!

We witnessed some customers being asked to leave the Beach Club Marketplace because they were using plastic (non WDW) cups at the drink station.

Actually they were asked to leave when they got mouthy with the CMs. The CMs were very nice about asking them not to use the regular plastic cups and pointed out that the drink station was only for those purchasing drinks or using a refillable mug.

The customers got really nasty with the CMs and in the process, it was discovered that they weren't even staying on Disney property! They had left EPCOT and walked to the BC just to get free drinks!

the 2008 ASM don't have the date on them. I purchased one last Feb but it was not the YOAMD 2007 mug, i guess an older style. i do remember a CM question someone about the mug they were using as the design was different. The CM was right at the station doing some refills. For the sake of $12 i will be buying a new one. I don't want to have to hide around. Plus it gives us a souvenir considering we did not get the YOAMD design.

Hi, all. My family of four drove from NJ to WDW. We spent our first night, (6/23) at All Star Music - the Jazz Building. We've never been in a value resort before, and were pleasantly surprised. The room was perfectly adequate for my family. I was expecting a shoe-box with a bed. It really wasn't bad at all. The pool was fun - but crowded. The food court was pretty good, but also kind of crowded. My kids enjoyed the large icons and the other children. They showed Pirates of the Caribbean at night, and that was fun! It really was a pleasant surprise for us.

We checked into the Wilderness Lodge on Sunday, 6/24. We got there around 8:30 a.m. - and SURPRISE - our room was ready. We were given room 6157 - inner courtyard room with bunkbeds and a fabulous view of the pool (and bay lake). We were loving it. Our last trip we had room 6145. We were able to view the fireworks from our balcony. The pool was never overly crowded, and there was always a chair available poolside. The kiddie pool was good for my four-year old - however; he liked the adult pool with the life jacket. Roaring Forks was decent, but always crowded.

They did switch over to the new mug design, and I did see the cashiers approach people using the old design.

I wasn't too fond of the food choices (or lack of). And, my 9-year old son can eat more than 4 little chicken tenders since he is almost five feet tall! So, they should re-evaluate the kids menu.

Whispering Canyon was a fun time! We ate there twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The food was really good, and we had a blast. There was always a boat within 10 minutes of us arriving on the dock. We always managed to miss the bus we needed, but never waited more than 15 minutes for the next one. The biggest problem was trying to leave Epcot at night and having to wait for three busses before we could board.

Funny enough, every time I walked through the halls at the Lodge, I always felt like I was the only one there!

Oh, and I received five towel animals during my stay!

For the OP. I would go ahead and use that mug for your entire stay. They are there for use through the end of your stay. No one will question it. Now if they had different mugs for different resorts, I would have suggested keeping your receipt for it if questioned, they likely wouldn't have an issue with it if you were able to show that you purchased it during your current stay at WDW. Since they are generic YOMD mugs, this won't even be an issue.

Actually the Contemporary is not selling any mugs because their temporary counter service location does not have the equipment for a soda machine. That information was told to me last August by a manager at the Food & Fun Center before it closed.

As for Corondao Springs since their dinning locations are not owned by WDW, they are the only WDW Resort which is still selling their Resort logo mugs. So that means the YOAMD mugs can not be used there if you were to visit, or eat at their location where the mugs can be used.

The new mugs are good at any resort beverage station during the current reservation period. It sure does make sense that they changed the rules with so many people switching resorts during their stays.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help. Glad to know that we can buy the mugs on our 1st day and use it throughout our stay.

We just came back from a split-stay (on-site the entire time) and only bought our mugs once. At the advice of a CM, we actually bought the mug from a different resort we were dining at during our first night there.

I do not think re-using old mugs (pre-2008) is a good idea & certainly not worth the embarrassment of getting caught, but I don't think there is anything wrong with using the same mug for the duration of the same split-stay vacation.

Minnie61650... thanks for the heads-up... We have used old mugs several times without a problem but I guess we would never want one... So I will have to tell DH we will be purchasing new ones on our next trip... maybe I will just forget to pack them

I never questioned a CM about it, but wondered should we choose to travel there again this year, would we run into problems with a "new mug" yet dated 2007. (All mugs at AKL in mid Jan were stamped YOAMD 2007)

I believe that for the Resorts to sell the YOAMD mugs for 2008 they had sell out of the ones from last year. So it was common for them to be selling the mugs dated 2007 when it became 2008.
