What to do...

I very happily booked a 2 bedroom villa at OKW with a 40% off code. (I was originally booked at CSR but I was concerned about where 7 of us would sleep with only 4 beds. The 3 teenage boys are too big to share a double bed.) Now my husband wants to stay at a mod so that it will be less $$$.

So if I go back to my plans to stay at CSR, will a cot fit easily in the room? (anyone know the cost to rent a bed?) Or should we go to POR so we can have the trundle bed?

Or should I tell a little white lie and say that the mods weren't available for our days?:confused3

I guess it depends on how frugal your DH really is..... you can always compare the rack rate for mods w/ the discounted rate you got & hopefully it comes up comparable. Even if it is a little more, remind your DH that w/ the 2BR villa you get a full kitchen, to help (hopefully) keep the costs of feeding 3 teenage boys plus the rest of the gang, down. If they're anything like my 3 brothers as teenagers, they'd eat everything available to them & still be looking for more. :scared1:

Have you considered a trundle bed at POR? Or are your boys too tall for the trundle?

I don't know when you're traveling, but I ran the numbers with a few random dates, and the OKW 2BR at 40% off comes out just slightly cheaper than two moderate rooms at rack rate. Now, if you can get the moderate at the 40% off, then obviously, the moderate is the better deal. In fact, if you could get the moderate at 40% off, you might be able to get three rooms for around the same price as OKW with the discount. But for that money, I'd keep OKW for the other amenities.

Not to mention OKW has a boat to DTD. But 3 rooms also means 3 bathrooms. Also, remind DH that the master bedroom has a 2 person jacuzzi. ;) The older units at OKW do not have elevators, buildings 62-64 do. If you decide to keep the 2 bedroom, add no separate entrance for the 2nd bedroom to your ressie. That way anyone leaving has to go thru the main door. I'd also bring some sort of air mattress for the sofa sleeper. That bar is not very comfortable. You can get an electric blow up one fairly inexpensive. If he's still balking, tell him you can easily eat breakfast in the room everyday and possibly another meal. Not that I'm saying you'll cook, cereal and sandwiches isn't cooking. :D

No double beds at OKW two bedroom villa. You get one king sized bed in the master bedroom. Two queen beds in the second bedroom and one queen sleeper sofa. Tell your husband about the jacuzzi, king bed, TV in the bedroom, porch access from the master bedroom. Large standing shower in the bathroom. Full sized refrigerator in the kitchen.

They should have replaced most of the older sleeper sofas at OKW with the newer type with no bar under your back.

Close to DTD (ala Disney Quest for the kids), Pleasure Island for the adults, lots of room - no crowding at all.

That's good news about the sofa sleeper.

Donald - 2 rooms at a mod would be $1000 less than the 2 bedroom villa at OKW. He doesn't think it's worth the $$$ because we don't eat in the room or do much laundry.

Hmmm, $1000 less is significant. That will buy a lot of souvenirs & food. With 7 people, I would probably still stay at OKW but it is a close decision. If you stay at OKW, where would you be eating breakfast?

We have 4 character breakfasts scheduled at this time. We might just do the 2 rooms at a mod. I was just soooo excited to stay in a villa.

Cool, in that case either would work. The reason that I asked was that the only thing that I was disappointed in during my OKW stay in October was breakfast options. Normally I prefer a counter service breakfast at my resort and then eat the rest of my meals at the parks, resort restaurants etc. However, I felt that the counter service breakfast options at OKW were too limited for me. I did eat breakfast at Olivia's twice and it was very good but just more food than I want for breakfast.
