Rehearsal Dinner and other planned activities:

Yay! Congrats! I'm doing DCl for my honeymoon too.

And I'd love to hear more about your Dessert party at the GF marina.

Looking forward to more:surfweb:

Yeah for DCL!

I really don't have any details about the dessert party yet! I need to discuss the bar and catering with the GF when I am there for my planning session. I do know that you have to have the music piped in.

I don't have any pictures of the patio but I am going to take some when I go for my planning session in March. Janet2K had a dessert party on the patio and it was decorated beautifully. If the search function is working you should look for her report. She has pictures that show the view of the fireworks and of the area.

A little about us:

Alex is from Monk Fryston which is between Leeds and York in North Yorkshire. He is a Senior Network Consultant. When people ask me what he does I just say I.T. or computer stuff! I am from Ontario, Canada and met Alex in Bermuda about ten years ago. I am a teacher but I am currently not working. I left to take care of our daughter.

The Proposal:

What proposal?! There hasn't been a proposal. We discussed marriage before our daughter was born and have been planning our wedding. I was thinking it would take place during Christmas, then New Year's......... and I am still waiting. No proposal means no ring!

Two Styles of Rings I would like:

Why Disney?

At first, we never considered having a Disney wedding! We were thinking about getting married in England and I really wanted to get married in a castle. There are so many beautiful castles in Yorkshire.

Allerton Castle

Ripley Castle

This didn’t work out because it would be too far to travel for some guests and the cost was very high especially with the dollar to pound exchange rate. Our next choice was….

Hawaii

Although Hawaii is beautiful it would still be too far for guests to travel to and it would be expensive for them. We still didn't have a location.

My mom was visiting and we were planning a trip to Disney in October 2008. I went on the boards to check something and wandered over to the Wedding board. I started reading a few TR’s and my mom and I started looking at people’s wedding pictures and thought a Disney wedding would be great! Next I just had to convince Alex. During the years my family traveled to Disney quite a bit so I knew they would like the idea. Alex's family traveled all over Europe but never to the United States so his first trip to Disney was in 2005 with my family and I. His first response was no because he pictured a really Mickey themed wedding. After I showed him pictures he agreed that Disney would be a good place to have a wedding and we could make a family vacation out of it and so could our guests.

Your plans sound wonderful so far- I love wishes fireworks and am hoping to have a DP for them versus illuminations. Look forward to reading more of your plans... welcome and congrats.

Yeah! I love new PJ's! Thanks for creating one. Your plan sounds similiar to mine with most of my activities occuring at the GF! I cant wait to read more. I have heard that Randy Chapman is amazing!

:welcome: !

you definitely have stuff to write about in your pj and I look forward to reading more. Funny, part of my family is from North Yorkshire also.

Thanks for reading everyone!

Planning Timeline

August 2007 - I called and was “penciled in” for October 30, 2008

- they initially asked me the date I was looking at, location, and the number
of guests

September - I had a 30 minute planning session on the phone. We talked more about the ceremony location, reception locations, when the contract can be signed based on ceremony and reception locations, # of guests, the minimum amount of money that needs to be spent

October 31st - I was told that my ceremony (originally SBP) and reception choices were “tentatively” being held.

January 4th – I was asked to provide information for the room block, information for the complimentary website, and asked to provide addresses for the save the dates.

January 16 – changed to WP

February 4 –list of vendors sent, menus, and planning pages

Currently - waiting for a letter of agreement which will be ready after February 29, to pay the deposit, and for my save the dates to be sent out.

I have an appointment on March 25th at Malindy Elene Bridal Salon in St. Petersburg. What are the chances that I can go to one store and find "the dress"? :confused3 If not, I will have to find some other stores in Orlando.

I have a planning session scheduled for March 31st! It is scheduled for four hours at Franck's and then we have a menu tasting in the GF kitchen. I need to choose two appetizers, one salad, one sorbet, two entrees, one dessert to taste. :cool1:

Wait, you can book your planning session before you have a co-ordinator? I thought you'd have to wait to know who your planner was before you could do that? I'd love to be wrong!

So far your wedding planning sounds great. You're exactly one month after us!

They recommend that you go for your planning session 4-6 months before your wedding. That way the prices will be locked in. (The menu and bar prices I have say the prices are valid until September 2008 so I am expecting an increase) I asked if I can go earlier than 6 months because I don't want to go by myself, DF cannot go at all, and March is the only time my mom can go with me. I think you can go for a planning session any time after your letter of agreement and contract are signed. Right now I do not have a planner but I will by the time I go for the planning session. HTH!

we were told we could go earlier than 6 months as we were originally going just after 12 months and they said it was fine but couldnt lock prices till 6 months, we just got back last week and it was just over six months for us

Maybe it depends who your co-ordinator is. I originally asked if I could go in February for the planning session. I was told no, because that would be two weeks before our contract would be made. She said if the contract wasn't signed then you could only do a site visit. I am just happy I am going in March because I don't think they were too keen on that.

This is the first bouquet I wanted when my colours were green and pink.

I changed my colours to pink and brown so I think I like these flowers better. (I am very indecisive and keep changing everything!)

I really like this bouquet. I like how it is wrapped but I think it would look nicer with pink roses. I am not sure about the calla lilies.

Which flowers do you think would look best? Thanks!
