We got the 40% code too, and there are 5 of us.

We figured it was a once in a lifetime bargain, and went for the Poly. If that's not what you're thinking, let' simplify things:

With the 40% off, Wilderness Cabin is $153 per night. You could save money on food (but then you're cooking-- do you really want to do that on vacation?)

All Star Suites: $110.40 And you have 2 rooms.

POR: $89.40

I think I would go for POR. You're getting a moderate at less than a Value price. The pool is supposed to be amazing, and your kids are old enough to appreciate it. That is, if your boys will share a bed. ( I teach HS. 13 year old boys can be funny about that. If it's an issue, go back to the All Star Suites.)

edited to add: as to when: Our postcard had the code starting August 10th. That was convenient, since we were planning to leave on Aug 13 anyway. But that way we don't miss school (we're both teachers and wouldn't pull the kids out anyway) and it's after the summer course we both teach. But take a look at the dates.

Wow, that opens up a lot of options on both counts. Then I vote for POR-- have you SEEN their pool??

We used a 40% off coupon last year on a stay at AKL and it was so great. It was a hotel I was wishy-washy about and wasn't too sure I wanted to stay at. Now it's my far and away favorite.

Let me warn you from past experience, there are limited rooms at each resort you can use these coupons at. So even if there are open rooms at the resort you want, there might not be rooms available at that discounted rate. We ticked through several resorts last year Poly, POFQ, WL, before we got to AKL. Fortunately it ended up being good for us and far and away our best stay at WDW. But you really need to hurry up and make your decision fast because where you stay may not be your decision after all.

Good luck!

But he is trying to schedule our family mission trip to Ethiopia for the summer as well as a trip to Alaska in addition to Disney, and ... I keep trying to tell him we can't do all that by December, but he wants to try.... I also tell him how expensive all those options are. However, we each have 130,000 AA frequent flier miles that could pay for the 5 of us to fly to Alaska (seems like it will cost 50,000 miles each instead of 25,000) So the cost would be lodging and transportation.

Christine

New plan, he goes to Ethiopa and AK and you and the kids go to WDW. Now your a family of 4. :rotfl:

The POR rooms in the Alligator Bayou section have trundle beds. But if you really want the kitchenette, go for the All Star Family Suites.

If you went with a resort with no kitchenette, maybe the dining plan would be an option.

I would love to have the flexibilty that you have to plan your trips. A September trip would be great, but I teach kindergarten and wouldn't dream of missing a day the first month of school. The children are still transitioning and they're often quite a few tears shed those first few weeks, both from our new students and parents!

Happy planning!!!

You have my admiration!!! Both of my boys were still in ps when they were in kindergarten and had the best teacher in the entire world. I was in awe of how she handled those children. My degree is in secondary ed and I cannot imagine trying to handle 20 children and teaching them to stand in line, hold their pencil, tie their shoes, etc... You are right. You cannot go in September!!!

Christine

I'm fortunate enough to work at a wonderful school and have a great assistant teacher! I am trying to plan an October trip for a long weekend.
Definitely use your flexibility to your advantage! Go when no one else is there!

I think I would go with CSR with a 40% off. Great resort, fitness center, wonderful main pool along with quiet pool areas and the food court is the BEST of all the moderates by far. A great resort for the moderate rates by far! However, enjoy whichever resort you choose. I always say....go with your gut feeling" and you can never go wrong. Enjoy !

As PP said, it's POR (Alligator Bayou has the trundle beds), family suite at All Stars, or a Wilderness Cabin. And, of course, most of the deluxe resorts sleep 5. I think WL and AKL only sleep 4.
