GF or Poly-having second thoughts

We have GF garden view booked for Dec. 6-14. I am starting to second guess myself and consider staying at Poly instead. We are travelling with DD 5 and DD 1. Which would you stay at with a 5 and 1 year old and why??

I always second guess myself :sad2:

I think that the GF is a fabulous resort, and the monorail can't be beat. That said, I think the Poly theming is more suited for kids with the pool and what-not, the TTC is within walking distance for direct service to Epcot, and you still have all the other transportation options available that the GF has as well. Either resort, you can't go wrong. My personal preference is the Poly.

I would do Poly. I too think they'll like the pool better. Plus, I just like the themeing better than GF, but that's just my preference.

I don't think you could go wrong with either one of them. Just pick the one which theme interests you the most.

Have stayed at the Polynesian and have spent my life lusting after the Grand Floridian (seriously -- ever since it opened) -- I think you should go with the one you like the best -- I don't think you would be disappointed with either one -- however, at Christmastime I don't think the Grand Floridian could be beat -- those Christmas decorations and that giant gingerbread house -- it would be perfect.

I know how you feel about second-guessing yourself -- I do it all the time -- it seems to be my curse while planning our current vacation.

With the Christmas decorations and all, I would (without a doubt) choose the Grand Floridian. I stayed there for the first time when I was about 7. I remember falling in love with the "fanciness". The giant gingerbread house didn't hurt for a 7 year old either! I say keep it!

I booked the Poly for our Jan 09 trip-- but I waffle DAILY on whether the Poly or GF are the best bet for us & our DD who will be 3 then. I'm sure whichever you choose will be perfect though!

Well I just stayed at the Poly for the first time and fell in love!
The theming is really amazing and it sounds like your children would thoroughly enjoy the Poly's pool. I also noticed that after buses stopped at the Poly to pick us up, they went to the GF to pick up more people. So that being said, there could be a higher chance of GF guests having to stand up on buses. However, at Christmastime the GF really is beautiful with that ginormous ;) gingerbread house. Just go with the resort that you feel will make you and your family happiest!

We were at the Poly last month for the first time and absolutely loved it! My 4 year old nephew enjoyed it as well. We went over to the GF for breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and had the opportunity to look around a bit. We felt that the Poly was much more child friendly. And the volcano pool is amazing! But, being that this is Disney, I think children will have a great time at any of the resorts! Have fun planning your trip!!!

I, too, dont think you can go wrong, but the GF is my absolute FAVORITE resort. zero entry pool, waterfall and waterslide, very much so fun for the kiddies. your kids are young enough that i dont really think they will really ahve too much of a preference ya know? stop second guessing and go have fun! you can always stay at the Poly next time or do a split stay. but the GF is particularly FABULOUS at Christmastime!

You probably don't want to hear this..but I think WL is the best resort to be in at Christmas time.;)

We have stayed at both with young kids and liked them both. Heading back to the GF for our next trip though :)

Good-Luck!!

We stayed at the Poly last Sept. and my kiddos (4 and 2) never once said "Mommy, I just love the theming at this resort!" ;) They did, however, let me know how much they liked swimming and playing on the beach! We (DH and I) did not love the Poly, so we are trying the GF this time. We like the feel of the GF much more than the Poly, and our kiddos, well, lucky for them that it has a pool and a beach (oh yeah, and a dinner with Cinderella!!!). They'll love it!!!

Pick the GF - here is why.....
1) with a 1 and 5 year old - you are not walking to the TTC - unless you are carrying them - even with strollers it is a hike.
2) December is amazing at the GF
3) 1 and 5 year old, only one stop to MK
4) December may be cool for the pool, but the GF has 2 pools and they are very cool
5) Boat to MK - direct trip
6) Did I mention, the GF is awesome in December.
7) You can't go wrong, either is great AND you are in Disney.....

I have to disagree with this. If you have a stroller(s), it's perfectly doable. We stayed at the Poly and walked to the TTC every time we went to Epcot, no problem at all, probably only about 7-8 minutes tops I'd say. I would think the 5 y.o. could walk that if need be, if you don't have a stroller, I'm not sure how you'd feel about carrying the 1 y.o.

I've never stayed at the GF, but I can tell you our kids (almost 3 and almost 5 at our trip time) LOVED the Poly. Great pool, if it's warm enough, your 5 year old would likely love the slide. Great CS at Captain Cook's, too.

Haven't been at Xmas time either, so I can't comment on that.
