If not Windsor Hills, where?

Looks like the week that we'd like to book, nothing a Windor Hills is available. I have 2 kids, DD8 and DS11. They love pools with a slide. We don't spend tons of time at the hotel/condo, but would like a "resort" feel and good community area.

What would you recommend? What is comparable to Windsor Hills as far as amenities and cost? We are looking at 2 or 3 bedroom condo/town house/villas.

Thanks!

Regal Palms on 27 has a mini water park for their pool area. Example: http://www.vrbo.com/89408

Also Liki Tiki Village on the west end of 192 has a mini water park but it's just condos ( request building 1200, it's newer). We stayed there a couple of years ago and was in buiding 700 which was ok but the newer ones are from 1000 and up. Example:

Just say "no thank you" to the breakfast if you're not interested in a timeshare presentation. They didn't hassle us at all. They do call and leave a message as to what is going on for that day.

Reunion Resort, south of WH on Old Lake Wilson Road has a mini water park but is more expensive than WH and the others. Example:

I read recently the top 3 condos to rent near WDW are Windsor Hills, Windsor Palms and Emerald Island. Hope that helps. Good luck.

We are looking from April 12-19, this year.
2 owners have gotten back to me with availability at Regal Palms and Windsor Palms.

What would be the better choice? The price difference is not that great. I think that the kids would like the pool at Regal Palms better.

Can renters at Windsor Palms use the pool at Windsor Hills?

Thanks for the replies!!!

George (gqchicago), will probably get back to you on availability in WH or elsewhere.
No you can't use the WH pool when staying at WP or anywhere else. They are two totally different and separate places.

I think the kids would definitely like the RP pool better. It's a little further from Disney but in a nice area. There's a Publix and SuperWalmart just a couple of minutes away.

Realistically, what is the distance to Disney and Sea World from Royal Palms??

I feel like every resort says "10 minutes to Disney":confused3

lol, we were in Coral Cay in November and I timed it to the Disney arch on Epcot Centre Dr, 9 minutes. Then on to Epcot carpark, mid afternoon, I was out of the car and sitting on the tram within a further 6-7 minutes.

Regal Palms would be about 15 - 20 min or so to Disney depending on how you go and the traffic. I think you can get on 429 now just past Orange Lake on 192 and enter Disney via the Western Way. Might be a $1. toll. I'm not sure about the toll, someone else might know.
SeaWorld would take you 25 - 30 min. You would have to go east on 192 and access the I-4 entrance and head toward Orlando. It may be quicker to go south on 27 and get on I-4 and head toward Orlando and SeaWorld from there. Someone who usually stays out there will be able to give you a better answer.

From WP it would take about 10 min to AK via Sherberth Rd. and 15 or so to the other Disney parks, again depending on lights and traffic. SeaWorld would be about 20ish.

Thanks, all of those times would be fine....we also don't generally go back and forth from the parks anyway. Once we are there for the day, we stay!

Hi Ginny

yes you can get on the 429 just past orange tree and it costs a $1 on the toll, or you could get on the I4 at champions gate, which you are not far from where you are staying, only a couple of junctions to Disney.

don't know how busy it is in April though, as I have never been at that time, if it is busy you would probably be better off going on the toll road, its a lot quieter

I also searched and found about 15-20 open homes on Windsor Palms and Emerald Island on your dates, PM me your email and I can send you the details if you like. (I have a utility that lets me search VRBO calendars for openings by date in the area).

I hadn't looked at that site, thanks! I will check them out!!!

I have found, however, that sometimes the week is available according to the calendar, but when you contact the owner, it isn't.

Looks like I may have something from Florida Sun Vacations at Windsor Hills:goodvibes

I am so excited!!! I often lurk on these boards and rarely ask questions, but everyone has been so helpful!!!!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I know that when I booked my condo with them, they updated the availability calendar within an hour on their site and that was late on a sat. Most likely, if it's available on their web site, it truly is available!:wizard:

Thanks for posting about Florida Sun Vacations. I thought I looked at them earlier in my planning, but it must have been All Star Vacations I was thinking about. I have already reserved with an owner for a 2bdrm condo, but after looking at the links provided for Florida Sun, I searched for a 3bdrm (our preference) and found about a dozen for our dates, most of them the same price as the condo we had reserved. I have done a rate quote request for one that looks beautiful! It doesn't have the free long distance I wanted, like the one I booked has, so I will have to decide if having the 3rd bedroom is more important than calling my friends/family. I will feel bad about cancelling with the other owner, but we aren't going until Dec so he will have lots of time to rent to someone else. I guess that's what I get for being impatient, and trying to get things booked early.
