Summer Bay Resort

We have booked a one BR condo at Summer Bay Resort for the last week in April for myself and 3 daughters. The reviews on tripadvisor.com were not that good. Can anyone make me feel better about our choice. We used skyauction and the reservation is non-refundable. Thanks everyone.

We are staying there in May. Most of the reviews on Tripadvisor are about being scammed into a time share, and staying at the Inn at Summer Bay. If you do a search on these boards (I spent hours making sure I would be Ok with this choice), I couldnt really find anything bad about it, but lots of good things.

I have heard the condos are nicer than the villas... but, I cant say if thats true!

Good luck. We are looking forward to this trip and are confident we will enjoy Summer Bay!

Summer Bay is incredible!!!

We stayed there in 2006, in a two bedroom and it was the nicest place we have ever stayed! We really enjoyed our time there.

I don't understand the negitive reviews, except that maybe they got the older villas or hotel.

We got a wonderful new condo and it was luxurious and above average as far as condos in Kissimmee go.

Don't worry, you'll love it, it isn't far from Disney, clean and comfy, lots of stuff to do, nice pools and children's water play structure park, it was great!

You're lucky you got Summer Bay on Sky Auction!!!

I was hoping for Summer Bay for our trip in Sept. , they didn't have it, but they did have Silver Lake which looks similar so we booked that, hopefully it will be similar to Summer Bay!

*They do try to get you to attend a breakfast to sell you a timeshare though, just say no and don't act interested if you're not ~ we did it and got free tix to Arabian Nights, but it took about 3 or 4 hours ~ not 1 1/2 !!!!!​

Thanks for the responses. They make me feel better. Earthfaries, I too am a homeschooling mama of 3 angels!!! This is our 6th year. We love Disney and we love homeschooling. It is a great adventure!!!!

We stayed at SB last October. We had no problems at all to report. The timeshare tour was about 2 hours, we had free breakfast and was given $100.00 in cash, no pressure at all.

A couple of things to watch:
-the gift shop is a complete rip off, if you need anything, Publix is right across the lake, and a SuperWalmart is around the corner on 27.
-mini golf, etc is a little pricey. Look for activity center events to make these items free-aka golf tournaments.

I just wanted to add, Im fairly certian you are not required to attend the TS tour if you book through skyauction (which we did as well).

I use skyauction almost exclusively and you absolutely DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE A TOUR for a regular auction purchase. Some auctions are for a special BUY IT NOW that clearly states a tour is part of deal.

HOWEVER, like all timeshare resorts that you check in to you will be invited to take a tour and recieve a gift (cash or tickets) but you are not compelled to do so. If you can say no easily and get up early ie.7.30 for the breakfast and tour (out by 9.30) you still have your day and cuts down on expenses. We always take the tour so know the drill. Have fun. Summer Bay is great. We will be there in two weeks. We love it. Also booked on skyauction

How do you get out so fast? Maybe it took us 4 hours because we really showed interest

Do you go in showing no interest at all?

I'd like to do it for the free tix, but not if it is going to take 4 hours again, I always wondered how lots of other got out so fast!!
