The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Greetings!
We will be staying at the WL this Sept/Oct for the first time.
I have read through several WL threads and found them very helpful, thank you for all your input/views/opinions and pics.
I have a question about the kiddie pool, is it a zero entry? and anyone have a pic of it? Also in the main pool will I be able to take the baby (will be 10 mos at the time) into the water in a baby raft/floaty? Or should I plan to get a water sling? And did I see that I can rent a life jacket for the week to be used in the pool?

Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge and experiences- we are so very excited for our first WL stay.

We just returned from our stay at the lodge 1/31-2/6. The lodge was beautiful as always and we truly enjoyed our stay. We were booked in a woods view room and ended up in a woods view with bunk beds. It was room 2006 we could see the otter pond and had a woods view. I will post pics of our room as soon as I get them loaded.

If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer.

The kiddie pool is 1 ft and is not zero entry. Last trip we brought a ring for my youngest dd and no one ever said we could not use it.

Beckie, great thread. I couldn't believe when I came home we were on a new thread. Great job.

Hi all,
Great thread! We will also be staying at WL for the first time this August. I just received my confirmation from CRO and it says (JB) next to Woods view. Does anyone have any idea what JB stands for? I did not request bunk beds as we need 2 queens. I am wracking my brain trying to figure out what it means.

TIA!

JB is the Wilderness Lodge code for Woods View. :)

Oh, ok. Thanks for the response. What does JB stand for then? Seems funny to type out Woods View and then put a (JB) next to it. Just curious...

Maybe this will help you understand:

Each hotel has a "resort code". The Wilderness Lodge is "J" (Villas at Wilderness Lodge is "X"). This differentiates the resorts for central reservations when they are booking.

For example at Wilderness Lodge:

JA- Standard view
JB- Woods View
JC- Courtyard View
JD- Concierge
JH- Honeymoon Suite
JP- Presidential Suite
JS- Deluxe room
JV- Vice Presidential

Were as at the Villas it is:

XA-studio
XB-1 bedroom
XC-2 bedroom (dedicated)
XL-2 bedroom (when a studio and 1 bedroom are combined)

Swimmers aid's are allowed but only in shallow water. Life jackets are available for use at no charge at Teton Boat & Bike Rental with a Resort ID card (room key) for the duraction of your stay.

For your safety and enjoyment, diaper-age children are required to wear swim piapers or rubber pants when using and pool. Swim diapers are available at the Mercantile for your convenience.

Thanks for this info. Now I know what it all means! I was trying to figure out what JB could possibly mean..."Jerky Bozo," or "Jazzy Banjo," etc. None of that made sense, LOL.:rotfl:

Seriously, thanks, this is very interesting.:)

Hi there!
I am trying to figure out what room category to book for our first stay at WL, we have stayed at AKL and Poly conceirge before and would love to stay concerige at WL but I am not sure I want a standard room view. Can we book an Inner Courtyard Conceirge Room or can you only have a Standard Rm with Conceirge or a Deluxe (with conceirge)? So I guess that would be a...let me think ....a JCJD??? :rotfl: So is their a code for "Inner Courtyard"--:confused3 ? No wonder those poor CMs get mixed up sometimes ;)

I think I can help you. It is called a standard room for concierge but it is not a standard view. When you book your room you would ask for a courtyard view.(or a woods view depending on what you want) Concierge rooms are either standard or deluxe. The standard ( i believe) are either courtyard or woods view--with the exception of the honeymoon suite and those 2 specialty suites. The deluxe rooms are not actually on the 7th floor with the concierge lounge however still have access to the amenities of the lounge. This is how it was explained to me. I am booked in a standard room with a courtyard view for April. You dont actually give them a code when you book just a request as to a view. I hope this helps and I didnt confuse you more!!:goodvibes

Robin4NY is correct.

Just remember: Standard Concierge doesn't mean the "view" but it means that the room is considered a "standard sized" room. Same square footage as any other standard room at the Lodge.

The Concierge level views are South Wing (either inner courtyard or a view of the Villas); or North Wing (either inner courtyard view or a more standard view which can have some great views of the Magic Kingdom, Contemporary and of the FireWorks!).

When the Itinerary Planning Office contacts you, just ask them to put a request on your reservation that you would like an inner courtyard view. Just remember; even though it is Concierge it is still just a request. But I have found out that they will do their best to honor your request. Also, when the CM picks you up to bring you upstairs, re-request your room choice. They will check and see what they can do!!

Good luck and have a great vacation. :)

Hi everyone. We just got back from a great trip to the WL. I wanted to let everyone know that the club level room descriptions on disney's website aren't entirely accurate. The room description for a standard club level room reads "all rooms have one queen size bed and one bunk bed". When we checked in, our room had 2 queens. It took 2 nights before we could switch to a room w/ bunk beds. I preferred the view (of the castle!) from the room we had w/ 2Q but we needed the bunkbeds to preserve the nighttime peace.

Overall, the club level was fantastic. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I'll get some pics up later.

I am trying to figure out what room category to book for our first stay at WL.

I was busy yesterday, I added more information about room categories and views on the first page see...post # 2.

I have been updating and adding new information since the thread was started, so check back in a few more days...it is a work in progress.

Thanks
Beckie

We could see the fireworks from this room. We could hear the EWP, but could not see it, and we could hear the horn from the boats. The horns bothered dh on the nights they ran late, but the rest of us were fine.

When we were there in 05 we stayed on that same hall at ground level, second room from the end still on the side... I fed a duck a few frosted flakes one morning and she came back the next day (while I was eating breakfast, so i think the same time) and brought a friend. both of them were tapping on the glass with their beaks to get our attention... I didn't want to have a big duck problem by the time we left so we just took some pictures for evidence (but i'm on campus right now and they're at home)

I'm pretty new to these boards, but I'm SOOOO thankful I found them!! Everyone here is just AWESOME!!!

Today I finalized our trip plans. We will be there mid-April, staying at the WL for 4 nights-- HOORAY!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

I haven't been to Disney since the mid-80's when I was in high school!!

I have have a courtyard view, and requested an 'inner courtyard on the 4th or 5th floors so we can see the boat parade (I forget the name of it).

I CAN BARELY SLEEP AT NIGHT!!!
I'll be sure to post pics of our room when we return.

Anything I should know before hand? We are taking our 4 y/o & 2.5 y/o DD"s. It's a surprise for them. :goodvibes

You are going to have a fabulous time!!! :thumbsup2

If you want to be sure and see the Electrical Water parade at night you might want to request the SOUTH WING. We were on the 4th floor, north wing and could hear the parade and barely see it through the trees but not really well at all. The south wing would have a much better view!

Thanks to all of you who straightened out my WL conceirge with standard "view" vs standard "room" dilema!! Now it makes perfect sense and I am ready to book our trip--can hardly wait. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some time to get to the travel agent and get the ball rolling for real. I like to do all my own research first so I can just "tell" the TA what I want. :surfweb: Thanks to all on these boards for making great trips possible for everyone!!:worship:

I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge this past July and loved it and I am booked again for this coming December. I can't wait! I'm subscribing as I am sure I can help answer questions and also possibly learn something new myself! You can read about my July stay by clicking on the link in my signature. I have lots of pictures of the Lodge.
