Hotel/Flight/Ticket Reservations

What site do you use to make your reservations?
I have searched several including the actual airline and hotel along with your usual orbitz, yahoo, getawaytoday, hotels.com & expedia (of which these two had the same prices for everything I checked out....hmmmm). Have I missed one?:lmao: I am sure there are others I checked too but aren't sticking out in my mind.
Any travel agencies I've received an email quote from are quite a bit higher than I what I can find on my own.

Thanks!

Erika

I think they are higher when you go through a site like that. I always book my room/flight tickets individually. I will be getting our tickets though through getaway.com, but never as a package deal.

we use either AirTran or Southwest, book as soon as dates are released & hope for sales;) to get credits later

kayak dot com is a good place for general pricing, then you can book direct yourself or thru any of the vendors they also feature:thumbsup2

I was going to recommed booking separately and using kayak.com for airfare as well.

Do places usually give the sale price later down the road if I was to purchase now?
So far Delta is cheapest for airfare, we only 4 carriers to choose from out of the nearest airport.
However if I go with Carousel Inn, Orbitz is the least expensive if I do a package of air and hotel. ARG! So many choices/decisions!!!

If Alaskaairlines is one of your choices, try them I always look at expedia, aaa, disney travel and alaska air. Often Alaskaair is cheaper then booking myself. All depends. Decide what you want, where to stay and the price out your options. Good luck

I just got our air/hotel package on priceline. We got a great deal that way! I'd never used them before so I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap it was.

If you book on Alaska let's say for $250 roundtrip and you keep an eye on the rates and it drops $15 you can call Alaska and they will give you a credit for the difference. We have done this several times and it has added up. You have on year from the date of travel to use the credit.

Ooh that's good to know. I had no idea Alaska did that, too! (along with SW)

I used to use expedia a lot but the last few times we've done orbitz and it's worked out pretty well.

AirTran will refund the difference if it is in the exact same fare class (unfortunately, they've got what seems to be a dozen different ones, and i've only been able to obtain a credit to my account when i call).

SW works differently, you can go online to existing ressie & adjust to get a credit. Also if a DING appears, you'd need to 1st cancel the existing ressie then apply the credit to your purchase. Takes nerves of steel;) ; in the transportation thread there is specific details as process.

i prefer to book components of trips separately, more control as to price changes and ability to cancel if need be...of course, there is trip insurance...good luck

i just used priceline.com for my airline tickets. we have a small airport here in mobile, but i've been checking on tickets for awhile now and i think i got a really good deal. i booked my hotel online thru the website and it was coming out $250 cheaper to do it that way than a package deal thru priceline.
good luck!
