Background: We're currently booked at the Residence Inn on Clemintine for our Oct trip, 9 nights, We require a kitchen and separate bedroom.

So this morning I was playing around and noticed that the Park Vue has some 2-roomed kitchen (with oven) suites avail, around $200 cheaper than RI for the same period. I stayed at the Park Vue with my folks summer 1990, in a normal room, and even now can remember thinking how wonderful it was being across the street and walking pass people waiting for buses/cabs/etc.

But I also know that RI rates higher in Trip Advisor, has grassed areas, Garden Walk, and generally looks better. We don't mind the idea of catching the shuttle, and or cab if necassary.

I've booked directly with the hotel so have no penalties should we decide to change.

Any thoughts?

never stayed @ parkvue; was between HoJos & Parkvue before we got great rate @ DL hotel...don't mind me ;) no 1st hand knowlege just a vent:mad:

while it might not be a big deal to those who are DL vets; one thing that really bothers me about the parkvue is the fact that they tout themselves as a good neighbor hotel.:confused3

I called & spoke to mgmt (who seemed very nice, sent me a brochure with religious material & swore that they were a good neighbor hotel).

I called DL - twice and was told they were definitely NOT a good neighbor hotel either in '07 or '08.

To me, it's akin to a seal of approval from the mouse himself; for the Parkvue to misrepresent themselves is disturbing to me - what else are they fudging:rolleyes: ?

Thought I posted This. Stayed at RI many times, last year mid August $139.00/night, this year, same time, $189/night for 7 nights. Fits our family of 6 just right.

After having a good think about it, and looking at the replies I'm going to stay with RI. And, to top it off, whilst messing around on Expedia I found the rate cheaper ($134 comp to $149). I just rang Marriot and had my rate reduced. :cool1: Around $152 inc tax cheaper for the 9 nights

I just getting a better feeling about the RI.

The great thing about RI is the hot breakfast buffet that they do. It is a great money saver and the food is good. Plus the pool is nice and warm. Staff was friendly. We would stay there again if we ever get to go again.

They may not know what it means to be a good neighbor hotel. They may think they are because they are a neighbor to DL. I don't think they have to be a "good neighbor" hotel to be good. Our favorite is the Desert Inn and Suites and they are not a good neighbor hotel. Now I have never stayed at the Parkvue just thought I might provide a different perspective.

while i don't think a hotel has to have the "good neighbor" status to be good; it is a tool designed by Disney that these hotels adhere to a certain standard; a boon to those of us whom have never been in the area

last time i looked, parkvue displays the seal/icon from Disney on printed material & website, don't think they are that naive - sorry to say...a direct misrepresentation imo...akin to a hotel indicated they are approved by AAA when they are not

funny thing, in tripadvisor's reviews it's is noted that those who post positive reviews are possibly receiving fruit baskets & wine on subsequent trips! (see below) talk about dangling a carrot for good feedback:rolleyes1

"I noticed on other peoples reviews of this establishment that they are getting fruit baskets and wine....hmmm could that be true, like i said i stay here 3-4 times a year and have yet to receive any sort of basket from them,,,,,,oh well i'm staying at the Parkvue this coming thursday the 10 of January 2008 for two nights,,,,hopefully the manager reads this and i get a free basket....."

I can't STAND the Park Vue. They booked me a month earlier than I wanted and then charged me for two nights when I didn't show up- then they refused to refund my money or let me speak to a manager. They wouldn't even honor the rate they had given me fotr the week I was ACTUALLY supposed to go.

Shady people with dishonest business practices.

They will also go grocery shopping for you (no additional charge- you just pay the actual cost of the groceries). And they have gas BBQ's for the guests to use too. We stayed there last year, and it will be our 1st choice when travelling with the kids until the DVC units are completed at the Grand Californian in late 2009- then we will be staying in those.
